Knicks · We signed Tony Wroten to 3 year contract... (page 12)

One thing of note is that Wroten had his ACL surgery on Feb. 3, 2015 and at this point he's had a full year of recovery time. That's actually a good thing as far as we're concerned. He's had a very long time to get the rehab he needs and should be much more ready at this stage. It was reported that the Knicks have kept up with his Rehab Program so I would assume they felt good enough about his progress to try and bring him in.
This was back in August:

Tony Wroten, who is somehow still only 22 years old, played pretty well for the Philadelphia 76ers early on last season. He was putting up 17 points and five assists a night until he got hurt in the middle of January, playing his last game of the season against the Atlanta Hawks.Eventually, Wroten had to undergo surgery due to a partially torn ACL in his right knee.
6 months. Six. Months. Good lord, that’s incredible.Honestly it would be impressive work by Wroten and the Sixers to have him ready to go on opening night. But judging by this video, that should be light work at this point.
Big ups to Wroten for getting after it in his rehab. Hopefully we can see some of that athleticism during the season this year. There’s no doubt the Sixers are going to need all the help they can get.
He also looks the same: unbelievably left-handed and careless with the basketball and still able to drive past smaller defenders despite the ACL injury.http://www.libertyballers.com/2015/12/24...
No doubt he needs development but from all indications his physical gifts are still there after the Surgery.

Now this is what I want to say and what all there needs to be said as far as Wroten. Its these ignorant fans that have to go the extra mile to trash everything the Knicks do. Even with video evidence and write ups about him. Just pure ignorance

I think he needs skills and BB IQ development. I'm hoping the Knicks expressed to him that he needed to be working on his Jumper, Improving his Right Hand so he's not so Left Hand dominant and to study the offense so he's not completely unaware of what to expect. My guess is that Phil has had conversations to that effect with him.

To be fair, I've been saying for a while that I think Jennings is the most realistic and best option we can get once it became clear that Conley wasn't in a hurry to leave Memphis and that he'd cost over $20M per season.
AND I also wanted Wroten the whole time, too.
We need GUARDS. Not guard. GUARDS.
Look at GSW - three great PG in Curry, Livingston and Barbosa.
Next season if our PG roto is Jennings, Grant, Wroten - that will be GOOD.
Also, I could see Wroten playing more of a SG role here - playmaking, slashing SG. The Triangle likes such types.

Are you calling me an ignorant fan? Otherwise, don't see the context of you quoting me. If you weren't saying that, calling anyone ignorant for their opinion is in poor taste regardless. Also, you said you were going to say something, but your post lacked your overall point.

Yes Wroten is going to play as an attacking guard in the Triangle. There technically isn't a PG in this system. Not in the way they use PG's in other systems. We've seen the role Wroten would play in what Shved was doing. None of our guards have been able to duplicate what Shved was doing so basically that part of the Offense has been missing.

This is one of the reasons why the Triangle is an idiotic system to be using right now. All the rules are geared towards a PG or a player like Lebron or Harden initiating offense at the top of the key with a pick and roll.
Wroten-sanity? The Wroten Apple? The KP and Wro show?

I think Eny is agreeing with you. Or he's drunk, lonely and trying to hit on you. One of the 2.

Eny definitely sounded like he was agreeing. Also ignorance isn't about opinions. Ignorance is related to a lack of knowledge. When it comes to Wroten, there is a lack of knowledge about his game and current status. This is why I felt it was important to post statements of what he looked like this year from Philly Fans and Media that know his game and could confirm that he looked the same athletically, but Rusty, in the games he played before being let go.
My feeling is that Phil and his staff have no doubt been keeping up with him and saw him work out in order to feel comfortable about signing him, which actually hasn't even happened yet, so this is all speculative. Philly guys said he was still just as quick back in December.
The issue with Wroten is his skills and BB IQ. He needs to improve his Shooting, Right Hand and Decision making. Someone asked me about his defense and so I posted info about his abilities and potential as a defender. They were very positive. He still needs to be coached up to make full use of his natural physical talent.
I don't see Wroten being a guy to run the entire offense. I expect they'll put him on the Pinch Post side where he can use his speed to penetrate and create. This is how they used Shved. It would make no sense to put him in the corner looking to shoot 3's like Kerr. You want Wroten working the 2 Man game and attacking the rim. You want him being the Push Guard, looking to create easy buckets.

lol. yeah, im happy for us knicks fan but this is quite pitiful. you'd think we acquired kdurant or something. lol. this guy is a bench player at best. on this team, he would be one of the best players. lol

He's got some talent at 22 yrs old and he's costing us next to nothing. Can't really look down your nose at that when you don't have a draft pick this year. Find talent wherever you, work hard to develop players and hope you catch a break. It's all you can do right now.
This notion that it's just "Tony Freakin Wroten" seems a bit harsh to me. A lot of guys that are now doing well were in the same boat before someone gave them a chance. So yeah we're talking about "Tony Freakin Wroten" cuz there's some upside there and we could really use a break. Gotta hope he can improve in the areas where he's weak cuz in the areas where he's strong he's got some real athletic talent. Size, Quick Hands, Explosion, Speed and Handles to start with and if we can help him improve his shooting and decision making then we would have a good young player.

Don't get me wrong, bro, I LOVE the signing. It was smart. Low risk/high reward. He's young; he has talent; he does the one thing no one on our team can do sans Grant: penetrate and attack the rim.
But, still, it's Tony Freakin' Wroten we're talking about for 12 pages. My point was this is how hungry we are as Knick diehards...we're starving man lmao

i find this statement troubling. just because people disagree with you, you think they are less knowledgeable than yourself? this is typical from you, you've been called out for it before and here it is again. just because you got a raging boner for this guy doesn't make you anymore knowledgeable than someone else who disagrees you. get over yourself, or would it help if i drew a diagram for you?

WOW! I LITERALLY just defined what the word Ignorant actually means and you just completely missed that. Opinions don't have to be fact based! If someone makes a statement that is inaccurate because the writer doesn't know the facts, that is ignorance.
adjective ig·no·rant
Simple Definition of ignorant: lacking knowledge or information
: resulting from or showing a lack of knowledge
So if I post information and facts about Wroten that clear up misunderstandings or false claims, those aren't my opinions. They're facts. If someone chooses to disagree with facts that isn't my problem and I'm not disrespecting them.
You took offense where there was nothing I said that was offensive! I suggest you re-read my post above and perhaps you might see what I was actually saying, which wasn't an attack or offensive.
