Knicks · That Minnesota team is going to be a dynasty (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 4/6/2016 1:33 AM
It's sad that Flip Saunders is not here to appreciate the years ahead but he will get credit in the future for the success that will be coming their way
callmened @ 4/6/2016 1:35 AM
That's if they hire the right cosch. They have the talent but once again they're a lottery team
earthmansurfer @ 4/6/2016 2:30 AM
They sort of ruined GS's chances at 73 wins, well, San Antonio will do that shortly.

Yeah, Minny is a good looking team. Not sure how they are defensively outside Towns though.

Chandler @ 4/6/2016 8:29 AM
If only it were as simple as amassing talent. Okc had one of the most stacked teams ever

Also just when all these studs start getting real good they'll all want max deals and then what?

ChuckBuck @ 4/6/2016 8:33 AM
Keep that core together (Towns, Rubio, Lavine, Wiggins) and find the right coach to lead them and it's a wrap.

Harder to acquire franchise talent, then it is to get role players and the right coach, so they got that sewn.

Comparatively to the Knicks, like they have Towns, we have KP, but no supporting cast yet... We got no players (except 1) we got no coach...we got a loooooooooooong rebuild to go.

crzymdups @ 4/6/2016 8:35 AM
I saw the GSW game. TWolves have an impressive array of talent, but GSW looks exhausted. They should give up quest for 73. It's going to destroy their post-season.

Minnesota needs more outside shooting and a better defense.

As others have said - amassing talent is one thing. They need a coach and some luck.

Towns is great. Levine is great. I'm still not sold on Wiggins for some reason.

Is Shabazz Muhammed a free agent this year? He looked good last night.

WaltLongmire @ 4/6/2016 10:58 AM
This f'n team actually gets another lottery pick!

Looks like they should have been a .500 team this year, IMO... not sure it's the talent mix or the coach, but to me it is amazing that they are heading toward another lottery pick in the upcoming draft.

mreinman @ 4/6/2016 11:00 AM
No. Minny will not be a dynasty ... geeez with the crazy predictions.

what Minny may do if they get lucky is perhaps get to the postseason for a change.

Lavine is not great! he is athletic though but he is not even good (yet).

He can be great, I meant.

But I agree with you overall - they're a nice young team with great pieces. But this happens all the time in the NBA. Very rarely do these teams of assembled young pieces make the leap together.

what do you think are the chances of them being a "dynasty"?

nyk4ever @ 4/6/2016 11:06 AM
how many years in a row have we said this? every year at the end of the year, minnesota plays great and everyone thinks they'll be a dynasty. then reality sets in when november comes around and they still suck ever year. im tired of hearing about them.

I came up with 6.787%...so we are close.

You really have to define what you consider a "dynasty" to be at this moment in the NBA.

Do you feel that they have a player framework to get into the WC or NBA finals?

You've always given more weight to free throw shooting than I have.

BRIGGS @ 4/6/2016 12:03 PM
Great post player=Towns
Great Win player=Wigginas
Third wheel-Zach Lavine
Excellent role players Dieng Muhhammed Rubio

Next year they get back a solid back up C Pekovic that Russian 3 point shooter back up

They will have 35mm in cap space a top 5 pick and a #45 pick

They made the move to bring in vets Prince Garnett etc.. and while it mightve helped--they weren't the best players--theyve been getting better as is. One year of growth and they have the goods to make great additions. Think about the teams NY vs Minny for just one second---they have more of everything that we have. Every facet they are superior and to add they have 10-12mm more in cap space and a top 5 pick. We would not be compettive with GS they shouldve beat them twice in the last two weeks. The next process for them is going to be 45 wins ad I see that next year--after that if the ship stays strong and everyone is working hard--the sky will be the limit and the catch is they are all 20 years old the top guys--thats always what I wanted 3-4 young guys who are of the same age who can stay together--thats how you win longer term.

Yeah, Towns is the only one of their players that I'd be excited to have. And you can build a one-man team.

the talent and foundation are there. they just need the coaching. Mitchell is HORRIBLE! (plays weird rotations like Prince starting over Muhammad), doesn't believe in 3pt shooting or spacing and thought that Lavine was actually a PG. yes with another draft pick, they should be ok. Pekovic is built like STEEL but made out of pink paper (always hurt). Bjelica can shoot but CANT do anything else. They have a gem in Dieng (solid defender) and an underrated Rubio (solid defender). Like I said, the pieces are there...they just need a COACH!
