Knicks · Thank god for Phil (page 1)

Really this guy rebuilt the Knicks something none of our past gm's have been able to do ... We are one superstar away from contending for a chip we already have one of the best front courts in the NBA. Grant and worton make me not worried about the pg spot... Let's see if Phil can get a all star 2 guard to want to come and play with the next superstar in kp and another star in melo

As far as I'm concerned if Phil scores big this off season we should all thank him for saving our franchise.

Phil has a lot of work to do still. The one good thing we have is KP.

I don't think Jose is stretched. Phil mentioned him as one of their favorite players. Phil seems to have a fondness for guys that he acquired. Stretching Jose also would be admitting a mistake. He did it with Fish but I don't know if he does it with Jose.

H20= free agent signing

We just need a h20 like derozen,or batum or ?

And then we can compete

How many years have Knicks fans been saying that we need to stop throwing all our money and giving bad contracts out to every player that's any kind of name in the NBA and build this team the right way?? We finally get a GM/president in here that has went the way of the rebuild and doing it knowing they're gonna hear all the BS from the fans and media for a couple/few years until we have a good young team and the fans and media are shytting all over Phil for it. In two years from now there's a really good chance that we have a team that will be a playoff team and hopefully more for multiple years. I know the waiting sux and going through these last couple of years sux to but i really believe Phil has this team on the right track and if we can be patient for two more years or even just be patient through next year cause there's a chance that in the 2017 off season we could be getting that final piece we'll need and be ready to compete in the 2017/18 season.

Patience people patience. We're not as far away as a lot of people seem to think we are.

Phil already admitted that that trade didn't work out as he had hoped and if Afflalo and DW opt out and don't return then we'll have around $36 million and won't need to Stretch Jose unless there's a free agent that wants to sign with us that Phil wants and needs to Stretch Jose to be able to afford that or those free agents.

I'm happy with this direction and I think it's a shame that some fans and media are clamoring for doing things the way we've always done it. This is the most unified the franchise has been in 15 years. This has not been a long wait at all yet. Going into year 3 and the way to improving the roster is much clearer than before.

I pretty much agree. I am hoping for a different head coach.

i think most have been fair with phil. He has done some good things but also some mistakes. Obviously a record of 49—115 cant be ignored i still am patient. Hopefully phil does a good job the next year or so

of significance, yes. And even that was mostly luck. He also got Melo to pass the ball more so that is good too.

However i try to be objective and its true he has done good thing and mistakes. I have praised him for KP, grant,lopez,galloway,and even dwill. However I never liked the calderon trade, i felt we got nothing for shump/smith, and his stubborness about getting a coach who will only follow his system is a bit irritating. Overall im happy with phil but i try to be honest as well

I never accused you of saying anything. I was making statements as to how I see Phil's moves. The thing is Phil may not have gotten great return in the Tyson trade but clearly the most important thing for him was making the change, which set him on the path for nearly totally clearing out the old roster. That in turn led to KP, which I would NEVER take back. So in the end we end up here with far fewer holes to fill in the roster.

I hoped for more wins this year but aside from that I'm pleased with the direction of the team. I would like a good new coach but don't have a problem with Phil wanting a coach he feels he can work with.

well can we at least agree that he still needs to prove he can build a winner? I dont doubt he can BUT its much much easier to dismantle a roster and tank then it is to build a contender

Surely it is! It's extremely hard to build a winner as we've seen 1st hand in NY. I do like Phil's general approach even with the failures that have come with it. I've felt since the beginning that he had a very clear vision of what wins but as a 1st time executive there would be mistakes and learning experiences. Overall he's been pretty conservative and pragmatic. His revamp of the D League team is an example of his overall approach that will in time payoff. People have to be more patient than they've been IMO.

If planned out right the Knicks could throw money at a FA(Derozan or Conley) and still have cap flexibility next yr. Not that these things will happen but its not the same situation as the past.

Either way your taking a risk. If you do nothing you have more cap space but will be harder to attract FAs to a perennial loser. Trying to grab something this yr to show FAs improvement and team on the rise is just as necessary.

Safe route to go would be a stop gap G/F and buy a 2nd rder for another G/F.

The biggest difference from last year to this year Phil gets to sell the next greatest player in kp.

Look kp Is going to DOMINATE this league in a few years . Now that hat we have kp we are going to win a few chips cause once this kid becomes a man he is going to destroy the NBA . You have a kid who is a curry in a 7'3 body and blocks shots like deke, his Duncan bank is deadly too. When Phil talks to free agents phil should definitely bring up 3 things we have melo. Kp is going to be the next greatest and will be contending for chips for a long time, don't forget about becoming a Ny legend and forming one of the greatest 3 headed monsters in the media capital of the world..
