Not my point. I'm saying the media would be all over Phil if he got hurt after trading for him. Shades of McDyess.

Again my point is that if Phil had traded for Blake and he got injured the NY Media would have a field day with that comparing it to McDyess. They haven't even needed that kind of deal to take shots at Phil so giving them any ammunition would set them off. It's why I'm leery of Conley.

NY Media is the largest and loudest. They can actually influence attitudes. In the past its motivated Dolan to get involved and I don't want that to happen. Constant bad press is not good. There hasn't even been an action taken and the Media is in attack mode, so I just imagined how they would attack if Phil traded for Blake and he got injured. The NY Media would spin it in the worst light.

I think perhaps you aren't getting me. When the chorus of negative NY Media gets loud enough it's caused Dolan to panic and do stupid things. I don't want that to happen. They never let this team go thru the process before they start ripping the team apart. Phil just rebuilt this roster so it's not warranted to have so much nasty press. God forbid they ever tried to do what Hinkie was doing!
I do think it also intimidates some free agents. This city has chewed up and spit out a lot of people over the years.
Phil is on a good path. The roster has fewer holes to fill this summer. We need for Dolan to let Phil do what he's doing without interference. Let him finish what he's started.

the media is not going to give Phil a free pass cause he has 11 non GM rings. Exactly like StarksEwing1 stated ... if phil does a good job he will get great press and be a media darling. If he continues to do a bad job then they will beat him up especially if he continues acting like a smug azz.

Phil has 11 rings, as you accurately stated, what's your excuse? ![]()
Sports writers are the biggest pieces of shit in NY. Bunch of scumbags that hate anyone that has a better life then them.(So Everyone). Point was that no matter how logical, good or smart a move/decision is, the media will crap on it if it doesn't turn out perfect. Regardless if bad luck or improbable events are the cause. And winning doesn't always stop the miserable from complaining.

The media is just very unrealistic. I don't know why they think its easy to rebuild a team with no draft picks
