I like E.Turner and think he'd be a really good piece in the triangle but this report says there's some that think he's gonna get $15 to $20 mil per which is a hellz of a haul especially for a guy that's pretty much been a 6th man for most of his career.

I'm interested in Turner but at $20mm? ummmm pass
The market is going to be insane this summer. I think we'll see at a bunch of ridiculous contracts and that will lead directly to a lockout after next season when the CBA expires.
Typical NBA - the teams will wildly overpay players, then the owners will force a lockout because of their own impulsive overspending.
But I do think Evan Turner would be a great fit. I mean, yeah, if Afflalo got $8M in a $69M cap, Turner is easily going to get $12-15M in a $95M cap. Easily. $20M would be shocking... but there might be a team desperate enough to do it.
I can see 15 mil but not 20. Turner would be a great fit, but if we sign him, we must make sure our PG can shoot from the outside. Might get stuck with Calderon for another year. Grant won't work with his lack of shooting. Maybe we sign someone like Curry or Dellavedova as a combo guard and let Turner run the offense.
15-20mm per for a guard who shoots 24% from three? maybe for 10mm max.
I think he's a great fit for what Phil's trying to do and the fact that he can play 3 positions at PG/SG/SF and plays good defense is what Phil likes most about him. I can see him being used at PG for us quite a bit actually which he played some of for Boston and he's a good passer. I'd give him $12 mil per without a thought but $15 is a lot and $20 is ridiculous no matter what the cap is at.

Yeah $10 sounds great but it's not realistic and i think the bidding will start around $12.

The cap is going up over 30% from last summer. So add 30% to any contract number as a good base line. Throw in the fact that usually there are about five to ten teams with $20m in cap room and this summer there are 25 teams with $20m or way more in cap room.
The Lakers have $60m in cap space. I bet they give two guys who don't really deserve it over $20m a year.

well then good, i have no interest in the guy then. he's not worth the money that he's going to get from whatever buyer he finds.
Its sick thats why when I said Seth Curry 7.5mm per--thats like it was 3-4mm 2 years ago. Accept that the cap is going up to 110mm by next year.

Gotta hope Grant is developed enough to provide solid shooting. He looked exceedingly improved at the end of the season. Only time will tell if he's reliable enough. He looked good to me in that stretch.
Crazy money. I can't comprehend ETurn value being that high.
I feel like Evan Turner is redundant on a team that has Wroten on it. Yeah Turner is bigger, but both guys are basically SG who are great passers, drivers, and neither can shoot. The knicks need to get some guys with outside shots and who can defend this FA to put next to Wroten and Grant to make their lives easier.

I agree. Huge pass on Evan Turner for that amount of money. I don't even like him for $10mm/yr. I'd be looking to stretch my cap room as far as it could go--not blow it all on 2-3 role players, as good a fit as they might be. We can get role players, good ones with upside, w/o spending that amount of money.

We picked Wroten up as a mid-season free agent. He should not be factored into this at all. Maybe he ends up being a decent player, then it will be a bonus. But he might not even be worth a roster spot either, it's an unknown at this point.

No one is going to be happy with any of the contracts given this season. There is no way you get a good starting player for under 12 mil in free agency this summer. We have to get adjusted to that. Turner for 15 mil is like getting Turner for 7 mil 2 years ago. It's just the way things are going to work.

I see what you're saying but I disagree. I think we should resist the urge to overspend. I think we could still field a good team next year and one with upside without doling out huge money to a few role players.

unknown to us as fans, but the coaching staff would have more access to him and would have a clearer understanding of where he is physically.

I literally don't know how to handle the valuation on the rise in cap space.
But as a fake GM, I'd want 1 of a couple of things from a player for $15M.
1) Young guy with very noticeable upside (Crabbe almost fits this), needs to be projected, solid starter at minimum.
2) 1-time all-star (or near allstar) ala DeMarre Carroll
3) 6th man of the year candidate, needs to be still young
4) No noticable gaps in game. Can't be Jamal Crawford and lack of D, I wouldn't take a wing player who can't shoot from downtown - Evan Turner, etc.
Great.. $15mm for a guard who cant shoot and is well rounded but really above average at nothing. Please people please.
