Knicks · how about Rolo for pick#3 (page 1)

fishmike @ 5/18/2016 12:02 PM
Lopez would really move the needle for Boston. He's so much better than anything else they have up front. Give that backcourt a great offensive rebounder, P&R setter and rim protector? I would look hard at that if I am Boston
smackeddog @ 5/18/2016 12:09 PM
Who are you drafting at 3 though?
mreinman @ 5/18/2016 12:09 PM
can't see for the life of me how they would do that. I love lopez but I make that trade in a nano.
yellowboy90 @ 5/18/2016 12:14 PM
I doubt Lopez can get you a top 3 pick but he is probably worth a later lottery pick.

I feel like Robin Lopez doesn't have that kinda value..

generally no. But this is a 2 man draft and he perfectly fits Boston's needs. Lopez isn't a star, but he's def an impact player. Boston has enough young players, they are a 48 win team looking to move the needle. Lopez does that. We might have to include another asset, but its just a thought.

Def a step back for us but could be a nice forward move

I don't think RoLo can fetch the #3 pick even in a 2 man draft, but maybe a mid lottery to late first rounder for sure. Melo definitely could've cashed a #3 pick easily, as evidenced by Boston wanting to pull the trigger on a Melo trade earlier this year, but that ship has sailed. Or has it?

Even if it hasn't, I'm not sure it is worth trading Melo for the 3rd pick. Melo's main value to me is mentoring Kristaps at this point.

You think Melo would be happy in Boston?
Im thinking he'd be happier with the Lakers.

Agreed. Lottery picks come locked into cheap contracts. I'm a big Rolo fan but I think he would yield a pick in the early teens.

I think he could go as early as #10, maybe even #8 depending on if the Kings want a Cousins Protector.

Depends if he cares about winning. If he goes to the rebuilding Lakers, he still ain't winning shyt.

With the 48 win Celtics, hungry Talented young players, great young head coach Brad Stevens, his addition could easily boost the Celtics to mid 50 wins and having only Lebron's Cavs in the way.

But growing your Brand and business is most important. Obviously.

If hes not off the board Id take Hield 3--over Simmons if need be. Actually Id take him #1.
callmened @ 5/18/2016 3:10 PM
um rolo is not worth a #3 pick

boston should take Bender. it would be cool to see kp vs bender for the next decade

You know so much about him. To me he is "I love being a NYer and made a commitment to the team, IM an allstar and willing to contribute to the development of the team".
Now, Nalod would be very happy for Melo to waive his clause and knicks get some great youthier upside assets as I would hope it raises our long term ceiling, but that reality no matter how much hate I bestow on him, or pray for the good lord to shed the light on him to change his mind, won't happen.
Bottom line is he signed here to stay here. For that, I can't hate him. To me he is giving an honest effort to be a team leader and alter his game for the betterment of the team. for that, I can't hate him.

That senior tag sets him back.

While I think Rolo's contract makes him more valuable as the cap increases, the rookie scale contract is not tied to the salary cap making them much more valuable. Boston will fill a starting role for $3.8mm and still have cap space to build. I don't trade that upside AND use $10mm of cap space to get a solid center. Just draft Bender.
