I like this because it shows me he knows how imporant guards are that can shoot and drive to the hoop. We are already set in the frontcourt we just need some guards and a better bench.

Phoenix had a middle of the road defense and top offense in Horny's coach of the year season. Dragic and Bledsoe running a two Pg attack with lots of pushing the ball and corner threes. His defensive coaching seems sound, he just didn't have a great roster for that. Seeing how his style meshes with Phil will be interesting. But this is an exciting, modern coach for KP, Grant, and Wroten. Curious to see Melo's reaction. He's on the Tonight Show tonight but they probably already filmed

Is he still talking about Woodson? I had to stop listwning to him because he always brought up Phil firing Woodson and couldnt resist the cheapsots at Phil either. And i am saying this about a guy who was one of the reasons i wanted to get into sports journalism in college.

So i guess Van Gundy said he heard that Hornacek will not be required to run the triangle offense and also said it's an inspiring hire. You can find this on Brian Geltzeiler's twitter account....whoever that is.

Super interesting is the triangle understory.
I can honestly see this:
Phil and Jeff meet extensively. They quickly find a chemistry, and regardless of potential differences in BB philosophy they can both immediately tell that communication will be good. Jeff says "Phil... I know your system. Trust me nobody knows it better than I do! But here is your roster, and if I had the same team I would have won 50 games and here is how. They spend the next 2 hours drinking beers talking the chess of basketball. Phil is smitten, but cool and remains reserved. Phil goes to Montana and shrooms. Day two its moonshine. Day three Maryjane comes and steals the hangover away. With the cleansing golden trifecta of clear thought having opened his mind he calls Jeff and says "Lets make this happen."
I like this. Out of the box. Great hoops guy. Uber high IQ player. Really cant wait to hear about the offense he's gonna run and if Rambis is on the staff in any capacity more than a player development guy.
