The guy hits 5 three's in this game where he goes for 40 handles the ball end to end multiple times has a gorgeous jump hook good footwork good hands hes active on D this guy is strength away from being a fabulous NBA player some day--not in 3 years--soon. Hes a rotation player next year off the bench. MUCH MUCH better prospect than Willy G

Thons team lost the game.
He looks good, but its High School and not an allstar team. He looks fluid for his Height. I'd say for sure he is a very good Div I prospect, but NBA? I don't possess the scouting ability to say.

When you are 7-1 and can move like that--play like that--thats NBA. In fact I dont see what Branden Ingram and Ben Simmons have that is any superior?
EnySpree@ 5/23/2016 2:34 PM
I watched 5 minutes of that video. Kid needs to go to college. He was getting abused inside guys were scoring on him confidently. He can run and hit 3's though so he must be good.

HS three is not the same. ANd Ingram, while skinny, played in the ACC, in big arenas, in conf. play, in tournaments.....Etc. Not just in a HS gym. He was dominant because of his height, but he got pushed arounda bit.
I'd draft him and stash him in Europe.

If GS had any ethics they would give us a player to compensate for that waste
And the Raptors owe us for Bargs
Everyone is grasping for the next KG and picking up lemons in the process.

I am not oppose to drafting him but he is not ready for the nba and is not better than Willy right now.
BRIGGS@ 5/23/2016 6:51 PM
When you are 7-1+ and you have a touch like that--you can move like that--hes going to be a star if he doesnt get hurt. Hes going to get strong enough that he'll be able to really contest on defense rebound well--and when fully developed--much like KP--hes go the ability to score all over the place. Just comparing him to Simmons for one second--hes 3-4 inches taller and hes got much better touch. This is not a 6-9 guy--this guy is very tall and skilled. You cant teach his height but you can get stronger. 3 years NBA star.
Also Myles Turner who is 6-11 looked like sht in college--awkward did not play well in many games. But he had the skills and Maker might have more. Hes going to get much stronger and a team is going to be smart and take him.

I'm not gonna lie my dyslexic eyes saw "Thong Maker".
callmened@ 5/23/2016 9:26 PM
i have seen him play in several international and competitive AAU games. hes definitely skilled. problem is hes definitely skilled! meaning he tries to do TOO much...shoot, dribble, pass etc. and hes not great at anyone of them, hes simply ABLE to do all those things. i think he needs to gain weight and focus on a few things first before he expands. in the games i watched he would make a great pass followed by a silly turnover. then he would hit a 3 followed by an airball.
he has immense potential but he might take a few yrs to put it all together

Thats what they said about Giannis. I try not to over think. Its pretty simple he is 7-1 athletic and highly skilled. He knows how to pass dribble shoot hes a rim protector he has immense potential as a rebounder. Probably a top 3 pick talent wise so if he drops past 20 its a stone cold no brainer. We have some guys upfront but watching OKC--they have a staple of them--Durant Ibaka Kanter Adams
nixluva@ 5/23/2016 9:59 PM
Knicks are in a position to think long term. If the opportunity presents I'd have no problem drafting Thon. We do have more pressing needs tho. I expect Phil to focus on Gurads and Wings.

Just looking at Draftexpress's last 5 in the top 60
55 Michael Gbinije # 28 in my mock 56 Kay Felder # 17 in my mock 57 Cat Barber # 25 in my mock 58 Isiah Whitehead # 30 in my mock 59 Dorian Smith 60 Joel Bolomboy
Out of the last 6 players listed--I have 4 of them as first round picks--just my opinion. All guards. The draft is cut off around 7 and it just drops like a rock. The value you can get at 8-9 can be found in rd 2 and its Loaded absolutely loaded with guards. So if we are going to use assets to move up into rd 1 for a really good player--then we should get a big because there are not too many in this draft and Maker is just so unusual. I moved him up to lottery position #6 AHEAD of Ben Simmons. I think Maker actually compares to KP in many ways except that I think maker will be ultimately stronger physically. He has a better first bounce that KP and hes a better ball handler than KP. Many of the same bad things that people said about KP they said about Maker. I view Maker as how KP was viewed the year he almost came out. Just comparing to Willyg for one moment--Maker has so much more defensive potential--his reach and athletic ability allows him to get much higher than Willy G. He can shoot--Im not sure Willy G can shoot it he can handle I havent seen the same from Willy. Willy is efficient in what he does--but hes not close to the divers skill set of Maker.
Nalod@ 5/24/2016 10:37 AM
.....As a project, yeah, ok. Where does one take him and what are the needs of the organization? If IM picking low in the first round and I don't feel like any pick can make an impact as a rookie, I either trade my pick or take this kid and stash him. Let him play against men and get strong. College would have been great for him. Lots of practice time.

that why its really hard to project based on skill and potential.

I don't understand why you do this so much but there's soooooo many players that have great careers in HS or college that never make it in the NBA because it takes much more than just the on court talent but you and some others see these guys that play well in college or the d-league and think they can do the same in the NBA which is absolutely not the case and Anthony Randolph is just one of the MANY perfect examples that are out there. Now of course i have no idea if this kid or any kid that hasn't played in the NBA yet will do well when they get there but the NBA is a whole other monster than HS, college, Europe or d-league and the amount of players that can be named that were supposed to be great or good in the NBA but turned into busts is endless.
