Does our Spanish stash pick Willie get slotted in for big minutes at center now? He is coming over this year, right?

I hope so.. that said a friend did just text me though and said that he saw some tweet about how Noah will follow Rose because they all get along with Melo

Noah or Pau??

Which is better for the team and KP's development if we can only sign one of them?

Pau. Would be a coach on the floor for KP and teach KP some much needed post moves at the same time.

Pau by a mile... Noah gets tech fouls and can't shoot. Pau does a little bit of everything.

Pau also played with Hernangomez on the Spanish team.

He has a good interior game which KP can learn from.

Yea Phil would prob need to use his Rodman/Artest Hothead Whisperer Techniques along with minute management for Noah to wring the best out of him. Pau would be a great walking lesson in big man poise for those kids from Seville.

Pau would be great for KP. Noah a very active triangle type of passer. Neither is a 38 min player but can give us solid 25-28 min and different looks!

Dwight? On a reasonable contract and attitude adjustment.
Lebron? Too soon.
Durant?

Kudo's to knicks for acting fast on this. Its a risk. Such as life.

WHY, HELL NO TO THE MAX NOT EVEN FOR AN EXPIRING CONTRACT. that guy is just a cancer.

I can't see Phil even thinking of Howard.
RonRon @ 6/22/2016 4:15 PM
i like Justin Holiday and we get his early bird rights

not sure why we giving up on Wroten though

NYKBocker @ 6/22/2016 4:17 PM
I love Rolo but I think this is a very good trade for us. Plus, getting rid of Jose was big. Now let's sign Lin and we have a Hornacek type team.

Wron Wron,

Im sorry!!!

The core of Rose, Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony should be enough to allow the Knicks to contend in the Eastern Conference next season.

RonRon @ 6/22/2016 4:18 PM
would taken Spencer Dwinwiddie to buy low
I dont think Rose will ever be the player he once was but hopefully I am wrong

I do not believe Robin Lopez, KP, CA FIT TOGETHER either

RonRon @ 6/22/2016 4:19 PM
would much rather have a Bayless, Augustine or some CHEAP UFA PG than gamble with Rose's max salary
Chandler @ 6/22/2016 4:19 PM
I feel guilty about this. Just the other day I was wondering about Grant as the other type of trade bait besides Rolo. JH has been clear he wants "shooters" (i.e., not just scorers) and I was thinking that's not good news for Grant and maybe some team would value him for his PnR skills. I didn't post about it because I thought it was bad karma.

Never in a million years would I think Rolo and Grant in the same deal and especially for this package. Regardless of what you think about Rose, I feel we got fleeced. Cap flexibility is great but if that's what we wanted we could have accomplished this ala Shmp and JR -- i.e., give away Rolo for a bag of peanuts. We could have still had Grant (cheap) and Jose would or could be gone by 2017. Really baffling

The only way this makes sense is if the NYK front office is convinced Rose would come back stronger and faster and even if not in MVP form in some border line all star form. It should help with defense at the pg position; i'd like to think Rose will be a substantial improvement there. However looking at his stats Rose has never been a "shooter" so still a little baffled.

this has to be an indication that they see bigger 5 role for KP and that they think they can get Noah or some other stopgap to contribute. I will really, really miss Rolo and I think the Knicks will too

I am not a capologist but the other crazy thought is whether ROse can be flipped for a valuable draft pick to a team who might need the cap room even more than we do.

fishmike @ 6/22/2016 4:20 PM
its a very interesting deal. Tons of ramification on the cap. Rose had a strong finish last year, but its impossible to envision him as a long term piece, not with his injury history.

Day before draft
Before FA period

This is a deal before other deals. Wait an see.

I liked Grant . Not sure I do this without getting their #1 back, but I don't know what Phil knows. Lets see what else is out there

Nalod @ 6/22/2016 4:20 PM
Can't wait to see Steven A.'s head explode. Does he love the deal, or hate it with a passion of epic proportions?
No shrugging the shoulders for him!!!!
Finestrg @ 6/22/2016 4:21 PM
I guess where there's smoke, there was fire, huh? WOW.

Like Tommy Beer is saying -- the first thing I thought of was the huge amount of potential cap space next summer....We gave up Jerian but didn't give up a pick (between Grant and Justin Holiday, Grant's the better upside young player being exchanged in this deal. Justin holiday may not even make the team. I dunno, maybe he does--I personally like some of the young DL wings I've been talking about better--TA, Terrico White, Jabari Brown)...RoLo was good, better than I thought, but you guys know me on this--$13-14mm/yr was an awful lot for a guy that puts up his level of production albeit he does have good intangibles, I'll grant you. I still think we could replace RoLo, intangibles and all, for much cheaper...Agree with Chuckbuck -- ABSOLUTELY NO WAY do I want Dwight Howard now. I hope to God that's not our next move. What the hell has he done out in Houston with James Harden right next to him for Christ's sake?? I'd stay far away from Howard...I wonder if we're eyeing a big 4/5 in this draft now (Diamond Stone? AJ Hammons? I kinda like Stone's old school/no nonsense inside power game as a complement to KP). Would still like Phil to think hard about drafting one of these young PGs in this draft minus Grant now if he's lucky enough to get a pick, starting with Cat Barber. And my FA plan still hasn't changed -- still like Solomon Hill as a wing priority 1 (I think this guy's TREMENDOUS VALUE for MLE money, hopefully less), then still like Jerryd Bayless as a cost effective lead guard (who are we kidding--Rose isn't staying healthy and may be nothing more than a rental here. Wroten may not even be healthy. Still need viable depth), and of course, Willy Hernangomez (forget about him for a sec -- I wonder if he's the full-time RoLo replacement?).

1 year rental, we'll have $60 million in cap space next summer(if Phil only signs 1 year deals) to put our chips in the middle of the pot:

I loved DRose as a player back in the day. Not sure what he has left in the tank at this rate.

It'll be interesting. With Hornacek running things... could be very interesting. Hornacek got his 28yr old PG.

Curious to hear Melo's reaction...

he's only 27

really strange. My panglossian response is our pg defense improved

babyKnicks @ 6/22/2016 4:22 PM
Love this deal! I'm thinking we should go after Howard at this point...he's a monster rebounder and rim protector. Or you guys think we are going to fill in the roster around Rose PG, Melo PF, Zing C? So we would need a SF and a SG. Or we get howard, shift zing to 4, melo and then we only need a SG. 3D to be specific.

I heard Chad Ford saying today that ten years ago Stone goes in the top 10 but tomorrow he probably is a late first rounder.

Please don't mention player #12 a third time by name or he appears in your capspace like Beetlejuice.

to use a baseball analogy, ROse needs to stop being a thrower (hard drives to basket) and become a smarter pitcher (tear drops etc. and limit the drives). Perhaps they saw something in his midrange game they liked. His shooting stats have never been good (ever, even in MVP year).

just still in wow mode, and trusting that Phil is a step or two ahead of the competition on this. wow!!!

Yeah, only 1 yr. If Rose had multiple years left on his deal, I think I'd be crying right now.
