How much money do we have left? I would love a lights out 3 pt shooter like Seth Curry!

Not sure but Curry would be awesome and would be a nice fit as the back up point guard.

Yeah, but he doesn't shoot enough of them. He needs to be shooting 6-8 3s a game.

1) We are now a veteran team with our starting 5.

2) We are now a playoff team with our starting 5 (if they stay healthy).

This starting five--when healthy--can compete with any team in the east, including the Cavs.

They only had $31m or so I don't think its that much left.

Noah is coming in at about $18 million per. Lee is coming in at $12.5 million per. So I think we have basically spent our cap space.

SocraticBallin22 @ 7/2/2016 9:52 PM
By the way, this starting 5 is better than our 2012-13 starting 5 that won 54 games.

Don't we have a little more because we gave up Early's rights? Edit: Reddit has a post saying we have about 4.3 mil left and I believe they can use the MMLE to sign someone after they reach the cap threshold (probably Willy)

i thought the MLE was 8mill? my bad

I don't know if it will be Rivers but we absolutely need a legit backup point guard and it should be at the top of our list now that we signed C.Lee. There's some pretty good guys that would be really good backups out there and a couple i like are......

A.Rivers
M.Chalmers
S.Curry
J.Crawford
K.Martin
R.Sessions
G.Vasquez

K. Martin doesnt play PG....Vasquez, Chalmers would be great

I thought about Vasquez the other day. I agree, I think he would be a decent pick up if we can get him on the cheap.

16.8 Exactly and Lee's starts at about 11.2, so combined it's 28. Knicks had 33-34 in cap space. So they need to be creative with it 4.3 is not what it use to be as a contract. Even a year ago.

The knicks do not have the MLE, they only have the room exception. So looking at Spotrac 4.3 sounds about right when you include Willy's contract

Noah got his first assist:

The Courtney Lee deal "would not have happened without Joakim Noah," a source close to Lee says. Lee had several offers to decide from and chose New York in part because of Noah's recruitment. "Courtney understands what playing for the New York Knicks means," a source close to Lee says. "He wanted to play in New York and Joakim Noah was instrumental in recruiting him. Would not have happened without Joakim. Courtney couldn't be more excited."

Wasn't there a report today that Willy is considering some European offers that's coming his way?
Uptown @ 7/2/2016 10:12 PM
Apparently, Noah was instrumental in recruiting Lee to come aboard....

Beat me to it...Think Lee jumps aboard if it was Lopez who was doing the recruiting

Finestrg @ 7/2/2016 10:23 PM
So who's left out there for guard depth that's even remotely close to quality? I was gonna say E'Twaun Moore but just saw the Pels snatched him up -- 4 years/$34mm. Aaron Brooks? Tyler Johnson? TJ's restricted though, right? After signing Willy (what's he looking for anyway? Anyone know?), we're not gonna have much to offer anybody. Like it or not now, Phil may have to comb all summer league teams look for some quality low-cost backups with that leftover money.
STATMELO @ 7/2/2016 10:31 PM
Rivers? Are y'all serious dude isn't even better than Galloway. Thank god he resigned with the Clippers and we never bit on him.

Now lets bring back Galloway, Thomas, try to get a guy with some scoring punch with what we have left, give a SL guy like Summers a chance, bring in Willy.

Lee is a perfect fit, starting 5 looks really good on paper.

Sure, the way he has been built up since being traded Lopez would've convinced Durant to sign with us.
