Definitely.
Can we offer the room exception to Shved?
Also - my understanding of the Knicks cap was that they had $29m if they did not renounce the rights to DWill. Noah 16.5 and Lee 12.5 is 29m. So we still have DWill's rights, potentially.
Do we keep DWill or use his salary slot of $5m to go after a backup PG?
Phil is gong to have to beat the bushes to find a back up...Might need to find a vet who has made a ton of money but is looking to win now. This pg needs to be able to hold down the fort and run a team for a while just in case.....Not sure whats out there as I haven't looked yet but off the Top of my head...
Shved Felton Jack Sessions
not sure if any of them will take a vet minimum but Phil will def have to be creative...
I wish Phil would get shved back he funking rocked
he rocked the 17 win team? was that him?

Might've only won 7 games if not for Shved so yea relatively speaking he did rock

Lance Thomas, Kyle O'Quinn and Hernongomez is the front court rotation in all likelihood. The Knicks do need a backup at the PG position though.

What's with the fascination with Shved? He had some nice games Phil's first year after we tanked and were a God awful team but do you really view him as being that good. If he were, wouldn't he still be in the league and not playing in an obscure country in Europe?
He's playing in Russia — is that an obscure country? He's from Russia. And he's the highest paid player in Europe and a starter there. Good alternative to being a back up in the NBA.

Yes I don't think he would have landed that contract if it wasn't for his play with the Knicks

Also remember we can still free up some more money by trading away O'Quinn ($4mil), or we could trade him for a back up PG or SG.
I think Derrick Williams is a priority, as we desperately need bench scoring and he can play PF or SF. Unfortunately I see a team like the Rockets or Sixers stumping up big money for him.
Can we match whatever Lance Thomas is offered? I think we have his early bird rights as he's been on the team 2 yrs, but I'm not sure?
I would keep Lou Amundson for his leadership & familiarity (and because he's cheap).

Our roster is:
PG- Rose SG- Courtney Lee, Holiday, (Galloway), (Vujacic) SF- Melo, (Lance), (Early) PF- KP, O'Quinn C- Noah,(Amundson),(Seraphin)

Can we even offer Williams a contract? We can't match as he isn't restricted. But can we go over the cap to resign our own FA's? (And do we have to first resign our RFA's)

Shved is making 3.4m euros or 3.75m dollars per year in Russia. With Russia's income tax rate at 13 percent, it is like making $6m in New York. Plus, the cost of living there has now become relatively cheap. On the other hand, it is not unheard of for contracts there not to be honored, or for club officials to extract kickbacks on big player contracts. Plus Shved himself said that while he likes it in Russia, he likes the NBA style better and would return for the right opportunity.

He is the perfect back up for 15-20 a game and could be had cheap, he dominated Parker in this game he's still super young
That would be a good move.

All starters, besides KP, are veterans with tons of playoff experience. They are all battle tested and all they want to do is win at this point in their career. If the starting 5 can stay healthy, we are a playoff team and can win a round or two.. Also, we can compete against any starting 5 in the east, including Cleveland. The question mark is health.
Unfortunately, they're just as prone to break down as the season goes on too. I hope we have some plans in order as far as preserving them throughout the season like Pop and the Spurs did.
I do hope we can bring Lance back though. I am running with the belief that his improvement wasn't a fluke and he was just injured on that last stretch where he couldn't make a shot nor inbound the ball correctly.

How should Phil mold the bench ?
It's gonna be a very tricky process for Phil to fill (Phil to Fill...lol) out the bench with the limited money he has to do so but it would be a huge start if he could get Lance, Gallo and DWill back somehow and even getting Gallo and one of Lance/DWill would be big for us. These front office people always seem to find ways to move money around or use exceptions to get things done so hopefully Phil and his team have something in their minds that they can do that will get us some legit bench pieces.
