I have NO idea what's going to be left on the market and what they'll be signing for.
I'm just going to ride this one out and see what happens.

Add David Lee you can't go wrong with him. I always thought Lee had good basketball sense.
dwiley20@ 7/2/2016 10:16 PM
Add on OJ Mayo and Matt barnes

Next priority should be a back up pg...
wargames@ 7/2/2016 10:19 PM
they should keep most of their bench, and try to snap up any decent player a team cuts from Summer league...... Also Crawford, Jennings, Chalmers, or Stephenson should be offered the 4.3 mil left over if they are still available once most the extra cap money is gone.

Definitely.
Can we offer the room exception to Shved?
Also - my understanding of the Knicks cap was that they had $29m if they did not renounce the rights to DWill. Noah 16.5 and Lee 12.5 is 29m. So we still have DWill's rights, potentially.
Do we keep DWill or use his salary slot of $5m to go after a backup PG?

Phil is gong to have to beat the bushes to find a back up...Might need to find a vet who has made a ton of money but is looking to win now. This pg needs to be able to hold down the fort and run a team for a while just in case.....Not sure whats out there as I haven't looked yet but off the Top of my head...
Shved Felton Jack Sessions
not sure if any of them will take a vet minimum but Phil will def have to be creative...
SocraticBallin22@ 7/2/2016 10:56 PM
This starting 5 is better than our starting 5 in 2012-13 that won 54 games.
All starters, besides KP, are veterans with tons of playoff experience. They are all battle tested and all they want to do is win at this point in their career. If the starting 5 can stay healthy, we are a playoff team and can win a round or two.. Also, we can compete against any starting 5 in the east, including Cleveland. The question mark is health.
reub@ 7/2/2016 10:57 PM
Sessions and Tim Frazier at backup PG would be perfect.
GustavBahler@ 7/2/2016 10:58 PM
I hope Jeff can find a way to give what younger players we have on the roster (KP on his own schedule) as many minutes as they can handle during the regular season and still be productive. The less minutes the starters are forced to put in the better.
The 54 win team came out the gate like gangbusters, but most of the vets were toast by the all-star break. Hornacek wants to run more, told Melo to be ready, hope they have something left by the end of the regular season.

Good point but the 54 win team had a lot of veterans who were way past their prime. This starting 5 is all in their prime years but there are health concerns with Rose, Noah and Melo. If they can somehow stay relatively healthy, we should easily make playoffs.

I think I'd be willing to let DWill go if we could get a good backup PG. I think that's more important right now. But only if we then go over the cap to bring back Lance Thomas.

Also dream back ups C. Willy Pf. Lee/stat Sf. Dwill Sg. Jamal Pg. shved

Sounds like famous last words, . Hope they can stay healthy. I still wouldn't want to push it with this roster. The whole idea of building this squad is to make some noise in the playoffs. Hell, I would go full Pops and sit some of them out from time to time, if the playoffs aren't a question mark anymore.

I think he is a lot more comfortable in his role than Fisher or Rambis. I think those guys may have felt like their job was on the line and they needed to play the vets as much as possible.

What's with the fascination with Shved? He had some nice games Phil's first year after we tanked and were a God awful team but do you really view him as being that good. If he were, wouldn't he still be in the league and not playing in an obscure country in Europe?

If Jeff can get the team to the playoffs relatively intact, I will be psyched about our chances of making some noise, maybe surprise an elite team.

He is the perfect back up for 15-20 a game and could be had cheap, he dominated Parker in this game he's still super young
