Definitely.
Can we offer the room exception to Shved?
Also - my understanding of the Knicks cap was that they had $29m if they did not renounce the rights to DWill. Noah 16.5 and Lee 12.5 is 29m. So we still have DWill's rights, potentially.
Do we keep DWill or use his salary slot of $5m to go after a backup PG?
Phil is gong to have to beat the bushes to find a back up...Might need to find a vet who has made a ton of money but is looking to win now. This pg needs to be able to hold down the fort and run a team for a while just in case.....Not sure whats out there as I haven't looked yet but off the Top of my head...
Shved Felton Jack Sessions
not sure if any of them will take a vet minimum but Phil will def have to be creative...
A name to keep in mind that i really like and think would be a good piece for backup guard is Kevin Martin, he's a veteran which with this team is just what we need and he can play both guard positions. Have no idea what kind of money he'd want but can't be too much.

I think I'd be willing to let DWill go if we could get a good backup PG. I think that's more important right now. But only if we then go over the cap to bring back Lance Thomas.
If DWill doesn't get re-signed then keep an eye on G.Green who played very well for JH in Phoenix and would be able to do what DWill did for us but not sure what kind of money he'd be looking for.

Maybe we can start a OJ Mayo thread right next to the T.Wroten thread.

Though I remember he really wanted to come here a few years ago until Denver gave him a big chunk of change
I literally read that yelled oh gosh. I really do worry about Phil and his scouts sometimes. Does gaines only do European players or can we get him working stateside? lol

I'm not a huge fan of Jennings, but I kind of hope he takes a one year deal with us to play on a big stage to cash in next season- he probably ends up on the Kings though

Our roster is:
PG- Rose SG- Courtney Lee, Holiday, (Galloway), (Vujacic) SF- Melo, (Lance), (Early) PF- KP, O'Quinn C- Noah,(Amundson),(Seraphin)
Also remember we can still free up some more money by trading away O'Quinn ($4mil), or we could trade him for a back up PG or SG.
I think Derrick Williams is a priority, as we desperately need bench scoring and he can play PF or SF. Unfortunately I see a team like the Rockets or Sixers stumping up big money for him.
Can we match whatever Lance Thomas is offered? I think we have his early bird rights as he's been on the team 2 yrs, but I'm not sure?
I would keep Lou Amundson for his leadership & familiarity (and because he's cheap).
I think those guys are already renounced in the minds of the F.O. Most of those guys are vet min players and Seraphin is not worth more than the vet min and should not get more than that, at least from the knicks.
Also, Willy G's deal needs to be factored into the equation so that is possibly $1.1m less than whatever the real number is.
I say go after Williams or Terrance Jones and slide Thomas to the back up two guard.

The 54 win team came out the gate like gangbusters, but most of the vets were toast by the all-star break. Hornacek wants to run more, told Melo to be ready, hope they have something left by the end of the regular season.
Yes, this is exactly what he should strive to do.I an really interested in seeing what kind of pace we play at.Melo isn't very fast and Rose will never be the same again. Hopefully we are still playing a up and down style instead of half court grind out.watching KD ruin fast breaks like a freight train against the Warriors made me yearn for Mrlo to do the same. Sometimes, I wish the season wasn't so long
Now that we have our formidable starting 5, it's very important we look to strengthen the bench.
Teams that win championships , had critical benchplay..
You must bring back Thomas and galloway.
Will Hernangomez will also be on this roster and will improve as he gets some playing time...
Early is still young so he should come back as well. We can move forward and not bring back Derrick Williams..
We need a backup pg that can also run the offense.. Holliday is also on the roster from the D.Rose trade...

Mario Chalmers might be a value pickup at PG if he's healing.

That would be a good pickup.. Chalmers has experience and have won 2 championships...
Also, Jarrett Jack is also an option if healthy and not asking for too much in terms of contract.. I believe we can sign him for the veterans minimum..

Yeah, i'd rather take my chances with galloway

Can Melo, Noah, Rose and Porzingis convince good role players to join the new-look Knicks? That could prove the difference between an MSG revival and yet another disappointing season.
Good info - so we do still have DWill's cap hold. We can either re-sign him a 20% raise or cut him loose and have about $5M to spend.
I'd try to re-sign DWill first, but I have a feeling he can get more elsewhere if he wants.

PG: Have said they should revisit Shved because he was damn creative in his time here and we really dont have a distributor on team even with Rose who is shoot first pg. Larkin had familiarity with triangle and might have been a consideration if the dumbsss didnt criticize it on way out.
