Thats the current depth chart post Ndour signing. 14 guys, so 1 more roster spot.
2 yrs in a row we have just massively overbuilt the front court. We have 9 guys who can play 3-4-5 in an age where plenty of teams play 3 guards at a time. Melo, KP, Noah, Lance (30 for he starters, 20 for lance) will combine for 110 out of a possible 144 minutes.
The only 2 PG on the roster are both coming off major injuries. If we dont go into the season with a third PG on the roster its criminal mismanagement
seriously - if rose gets hurt the plan is to play jennings the full 48 minutes? Or vice versa. Jennings gets hurt, we're gonna play rose, the most fragile guy in the league, the full 48?
Baker and Randle should be in Westchester, neither is ready. We need a vet PG desperately.

probably what the last spot will be for?

PG is a very loose term in the Triangle. Sasha can run the offense easily. He pushes the ball faster than any of our guards did last year and he knows what to do. People liked to make fun of him but if you really watched him you would see that Sasha handled the ball as a lead guard a lot last year. Besides it's still early and I'm sure Phil will bring in more guards to camp.
Like Napier's game..would be a nice young point guard behind Rose & Jennings
earthmansurfer@ 7/13/2016 12:58 PM
I hope we hold on to Baker. I think he is fine bringing the ball up the court. Maybe we are not going to keep Holiday and instead sign Baker, I guess training camp will be the tell all.

Remaining FA PGs
Ty Lawson, Raymond Felton, Mario Chalmers, Isaiah Canaan, Aaron Brooks, Shane Larkin, Andre Miller
Only Chalmers is intriguing to me.
Uncle Phil might have to dip into the Euroleague again to get our backup PG. Would really love for them to bring in Nando De Colo from France. He was just named the FIBA OQT MVP.

Just stop it.
This is why Phil went out and got Rose in his first move, because he maybe suddenly woke up and realized he needed someone that could actually dribble past a stationary defender.

I think this is why KP has been working on his handle...wants to go back to his PG roots.
I'm still going with Baker as the "15th warrior," and I think that's why he played a little lead guard at times, although he was much better off the ball.
The other thing, I would think, would be the difficulty of finding a suitable veteran PG willing to come here for the Vet's minimum.

And play 3rd string PG.....and maybe even 4th string if Sasha is considered for PG duty. I think Randle makes the team.

Actually Sasha played point quite a bit last year ... I think they are going to see what vet reaches out ... But my vote is for nando De Colo, he'd be great insurance to two great but fragile pg's ... He also has taken his play to another level since his time with the Spurs.
jrodmc@ 7/13/2016 1:29 PM
We're freaking out now over the 3rd string PG? How many PG's did we have last season?: Jose, who was 3 seasons behind everyone, and 5 seasons behind defensively Grant, who had a great last 2 weeks of the year. Galloway, who couldn't shoot and occasionally wouldn't defend.
And somehow, having 3 PG's couldn't translate to NOT having Melo lead the team in assists. Forget that we have 4 backcourt players now that beat the living snot out of every and anyone we had last season. And now Sasha can assistant coach at the end of the bench.
When all else fails, let's whine about something.

I think Toronto might own his rights...I thought I read something about the NBA team owning his rights trying to get him here to play with them...and here it is:
2 weeks ago – via Twitter MazzESPN Mike Mazzeo: #Raptors announced they’ve extended a qualifying offer to G Nando De Colo, last season’s Euroleague MVP. Toronto has his rights.
BUT- Looks like he is happy where he is, though:
Nando De Colo staying in Russia
Nando De Colo, the Euroleague 2016 champion, top scorer, season and Final Four MVP, signed a new contract with CSKA Moscow for three more years! 4 weeks ago – via EuroHoops.net
“I am very happy to continue playing for CSKA”, De Colo said in the team’s official website after the renewal of his contract was announced. “It wasn’t a tough decision to take. I came back to Europe to play, to use the opportunities and carry more responsibility day-by-day. This is what I did, what I had here with the club. This year we had an amazing season. And this is what I want: to play, to do it for the best team in Europe and to be one of the leaders of this team. This is what is the most important for me, this is why I signed with CSKA”. 4 weeks ago – via EuroHoops.net
Have to say that I would be interested in him. Read that he's really improved his 3pt shooting.

Hey...this is a good sign!
Arguing about the little things mean the big things are settled.

Sasha can play the PG as well. Also figure one of those SL guys gets a spot

Tradechecker in realgm.com has the Raptors renouncing his rights. I could be reading that wrong. He also did indicate that he is happy in Russia. Hope he reconsiders.

There is a 2014 article about him rejecting a Toronto offer back then. I think at this point he is staying where he is. Maybe he does a Prigioni move and come back late in his career- he's the star on his team and in the league he plays in...why come to the U.S. and be a back-up?
Knixkik@ 7/13/2016 2:15 PM
How about good old Toney Douglas. He just got waived. Time to bring him home?
