I already see Rose is going to be the next melo/Amare, the player ya love to hate. If he has a bad game and we lose, he will be the new whipping boythat's assuming people have a WWF mentality where you have to dumb shyt down to good guy/bad guy. some people are actually impartial, even-handed, fair-minded, dispensing critique and praise where warranted.

Dk certain picks sides and once he does, there is no changing his mind, but I believe that he is still less biased than most here.

you seem like a decent guy but you gotta stop with the biased policing. If you were at least transparent about it then it would be ok (I guess).
if you want to police certain things as a pseudo mod than police everyone.

this poster is on my ignore list for the general purposelessness of her contributions-- which in and of itself is inflammatory. but it is her inability to stay on topic and answer direct questions with transparency, ie. "playing games," that qualifies her posts as inflammatory in their own right.
this is offensive to me, and i am not the only one who has said as much. others have used terms such as "smug" or "glib." so far as this latest desperate cry for interaction, it is also trying to goad andrew and martin into action.
again-- kinda sad. pity yes, pardon no.

I hate that double standard. Why does a fan have to be on one side of the fence or another? What's wrong with being critical when 10000% warranted? Some narrow minded fans expect you to drink the Kool Aid, but what if it's been spiked for 16+ years?
There's every single reason in the world to be skeptical of the product on the floor. Until they prove otherwise, let the proof be in the pudding. Thankfully we have a flicker of hope in a 7'3 unicorn on the team, otherwise it'd be even tougher supporting this franchise. Been a fan since the womb and don't intend to jump ship. Ever. Does that make me a bad fan if I'm tough on the Knicks, and they haven't won a title in my lifetime and proceed to rip my heart out year after year?

life is nothing if not the source of ambivalence. either people cope with this ambivalence or don't. psychologically mature people cope, and wisdom is not far away as a result. those that don't subsequently thrive on factionalism, black/white points of view, recriminations.
this becomes very clear on internet forums.

OK just so we're clear NO ONE has ever said that legit critique can't be made and is made by EVERYONE on this forum. It's simply not true that any of us is ever completely happy with everything going on with this team. However, it's the damn offseason and this team has been remade with better players at key positions. It's a time of typical optimism and hope for a good season. Some have a problem with certain posts being overly negative and nasty towards the team.
IT'S A KNICKS FAN FORUM!!! What do you think most come here for? Most want to talk about legit issues and possibilities for the New Coach and Players. At this early stage it's sometimes a bit much to have some guys post a stream of nothing but negative things. So yes there is a lot of optimism right now and that's to be expected after another busy offseason and new upgrades. No one is saying the team is perfect and will not have any issues this season. However, there is MORE POSITIVE going on than negative with this team and that's why people take issue with lots of overly negative posts at this time.

Is it considered a negative to say we've been down this road before? Remember the 2013 season when the wheels fell off (literally)?
It's like a broken record with this team, except at least the 2013 team was better assembled for win now mode. This upcoming season is like a car salesmen selling you a 2011 limited model but with a carfax showing you multiple car accidents and manufacturer defects and recalls....but it was good in 2011!

I think we all understand the injury risk issues. This team is YOUNGER than the 2012-13 team. This is the tendency to exaggerate that I complain about.

I think it's similar to buying a new car with high mileage. You know it's time for key maintenance components to fail, just don't know when. So you rely on the quality of the Ford or BMW manufacturers. What have they done to help extend the life of their vehicles. Are they coming out of the old design and into a new updated software that will help fix some of the historical issues.
Different people will react differently to all situations, based on them being grounded. Some people are negative about everything.....And if you work with these types, then it can bother you even more if you expect to be flooded with optimism on a fan friendly knick site.
I know for me, I hear and talk about all the negativity for years from non knick fans or people that simple hate NY'ers.....So I expect that from haters. Most people don't like the knicks and think it's a failed franchise. But thats non knick fans.....Actual fans aren't negative about their own team.....They are concerned. I talk to knick fans all the time outside of NY, and they shower me with love or concerns. Non knick fans shower me with negativity. And sometimes thats due to pure hate. Believe it or not, NY'ers are not the most liked people on the planet. And this is why some hate on all NY teams and especially fans. Which is why a NY Knicks site is important for fans.
Sometimes if your entire day is around negativity (just general stuff)....you need to compensate that negativity with positivity. Otherwise you will go crazy and become a negative person. And I don't know about online forums, but nobody want's to be around a negative person. For example, regardless what you say and how positive it comes out, the negative person will always respond with negative phrases. BUT....when it gets annoying, is when things were negative for so long, and now there's a hint of positive news (like I read an article that said Melo have never been around this much talent in NY....is that positive or negative?), negative people still try and twist it in their favor to prove that the glass is half empty. When in fact both are right....the glass is half empty and it's half full. Think about how dumb it would be to hear two people argue about a glass being half empty or half full, when both are absolutely correct......
All this to say, fans aren't negative or positive.....They are concerned and optimistic about the future. And this is coming from a guy who always look at both sides of every story. And somebody who's been beat up by other non knick fans and never got a chance to enjoy their own team winning anything the last 10 years. The good news is I'm old enough to remember the Ewing era, and was 3 months old when we won a championship.....For example, if a person is constantly being talked down to all the time, that person can take that negativity and just sit on it, believe it, until it takes over them....Or....if they are like me, they will turn all the negatives into positives. It really depends on the individual. I don't care if knick fans are negative.....I just don't understand why now? But I have to remember some fans never saw the knicks as a great team before.....
I can understand the concerns or doubts....But I can't understand the negative attacks from our own fans......And thats during any season, even the bad ones. But I have to tell you, it's easier to be a knick fan outside of NY....Because you are the minority. And I enjoy being different from the usual GS or Laker fans....Spurs fans....OR....even worst, bandwagon fans.

Though actual age is younger, the key guys Melo, Rose, Noah, Jennings have advanced basketball age due to AAU, deep NCAA runs, Olympics, playing Internationally(Jennings in Italy), deep NBA playoff runs, coming into the NBA at a much younger age, season ending injuries, rehabbing major injuries, nagging injuries every year, etc. Melo as a 19 year old teenager, both Rose and Jennings as 20 year olds, due to the over 19 rule NBA rule change.
They still have extensive basketball mileage and red flags on their carfax even though their age seems young.
