Knicks · Forget about Rose and Jennings for a second. Is it worth it to starphuck for CP3 next season? (page 3)

No, but he had the orbital issue. And the year before that, the meniscus, and the year before that, the other knee, and the year before that....

You're so full of ISH. ANYONE can catch and elbow to the face. I mean come on. We're really only talking about chronic injury that has a lasting effect on a player's game. The Knee issue wasn't the problem last year. He actually got stronger as the season moved along last year. Yes he's a guy that has a tendency to suffer a lot of nagging minor injuries and no one is saying he isn't an injury risk, but the main issue was the ACL which was the biggest injury he had. The Meniscus repairs aren't the same as an ACL and none of the other injuries was career threatening. You just love to list them to make it seem worse than it is.

LMFAO, are you actually trying to rationalize 166 regular season games played out of a possible 410 the last 5 years?!!!!?
Wow. Just speechless, just wow...
Bravo to you, nixluva. Blind homer to the very end, no matter the facts put in your face.

No stop trying to put words in my mouth. I was talking about how you like to list all the smaller injuries in order to make it seem worse than it is. Yes Rose has missed games due to nagging small injuries in addition to the major injuries he suffered. Right now we should be most concerned with not the smaller injuries but rather a major injury.
I'm hoping he remains relatively healthy with the Knicks. I'm hoping that Rose looks to use the talent around him more and not feel he has to carry the action in order for this team to win. Just trust what Hornacek asks him to do and the talent around him. He says that this is what he's going to do and I hope he does.

this... hopefully Rose is the man and he works here. Jennings as well. That is the ideal scenario. Can CP3 make it through an NBA season? When Mike Conley is the highest paid PG you can assume CP3's asking price is nothing short of the max for 4 yearsso lets say Rose has a solid season (by everybodys standards). Would you rather resign him to a max contract vx. taking a shot at CP3?
The ideal situation is Rose and Jennings both play their way into big deals, ideal as in they earned those big deals.
So then if he's playing well, would you trade him by the trade deadline? Or lose him for nothing?Rose is an impact player and very talented. I understand he's got holes in his game but he is a dynamic talent. The kind of talent you retain in the NBA. If there is some FA deal we make instead of Rose that improves the team fine. Simply not signing him after a good season and he plays well with this squad only because you are worried about him getting hurt again would be a terrible move.
Did he have knee issues last year?
and this is exactly how are desperate and irrational fans came to terms with the amare signing. HE MADE US RELEVANT! YAY!

I'd be looking at Goran Dragic and possibly Ricky Rubio if Rose is playing well enough at the deadline. Ideally, I'd like to tank the season, offload our vets for more picks and build around KP. I feel the roster we have right now is little more than fool's gold and won't produce anything meaningful. This 2017 draft, however, might give us a runningmate for KP and form a winning core for a decade.

I don't understand the notion of trading Rose midseason if he's playing well and the team is winning. What's the logic in that?
As for Tanking this season that is just not something I think the NYK's could get behind while they have a chance to win games early in KP's career. He's got so long to go in his career that they will be able to build several teams over the course of his career. Why be in a rush to lose right now when you can develop KP and also win games?
As for fool's gold, what would you say to Toronto and Boston's efforts to try and win right now? They aren't likely to beat the Cavs but should they not try? The Knicks could easily move into the same kind of position as those teams, which I think is worthwhile and meaningful. KP will be playing in meaningful games early in his career and we have no idea just how good he can become this season.
whats more likely to happen is knicks might win 40-44 games, might win a playoff round and the garden is entertained. thats good enough for a mid round pick. next yrs draft will be stacked...so instead of getting a stud PG like Markelle Fultz, we may need to settle for a PG like Frank Jackson(Duke). keep in mind both philly and boston could potentially EACH have two top 5 picks next yr
In the meantime, either Rose or Jennings might get resigned for 20 mill. lol. and the hemming and hawing continues - win now mentality with noah, melo yet build for the future with KP. i'm not a fan of the middle ground BS but it is what it is
i dont think rose or jennings are that good. im actually WORRIED that the knicks will want to resign them. but lets see how they play this yr

I actually think it's going to be a very good thing to have these vets wrapped around KP like this. They will only help KP to shine. I think people are SERIOUSLY underestimating the ability of this roster.
Noah has averaged 4+ assists over the last 4 years.
Melo bumped up to 4 assists last year.
Rose is just under 5 assists over the last 3 years.
Lee is just under 2 assists the last 3 years
I think that will be a good thing for KP to be on the floor with these guys. No one really talks about the ability of this starting lineup to actually move the ball. I think this could be a strength of this team. This SL has more capable passers than we've had in a VERY long time. Sure we don't have a single guy that passes at a high rate but collectively there is good passing ability at all 5 spots.

If Jennings is healthy, playing smart, and playing well, Im not opposed to bringing him back. He really wants to be here, not just to get paid like Rose.
Rose and Jennings are at different points in their careers. Strickland/Jax were on the rise. My point is that there hasnt been much talent at PG in a long time. Knicks have had PGs on the wrong side of their careers, but I believe this will be a real competition.
Rose knows even if he isnt playing for a big contract here, he is playing for one somewhere else. Doesnt want to get benched for anyone, could affect future earnings. Jennings wants to be the franchise PG, wanted the Knicks to draft him. Its going to be interesting.

I think the Knicks are in a good position in that they have 2 talented PG's that are playing for their next contract but also that want to be here. This is a great spot for both Rose and Jennings. New York LOVES and appreciates good PG's and if they also have some sizzle to their game it's even more of a plus. We've been watching extremely hesitant and unspectacular PG's for years now and they're starved for a change.
I'm very interested on seeing how Chasson Randle responds in Camp and Preseason. He's an interesting talent. I think he can help if called upon. He's very similar to the kind of PG's that Hornacek has had success with before.

Compared to the Cav starters the Knicks have the exact same assists per game. Both about 16 combined for all starters. The difference is the distribution is more spread with the Knicks roster. Lebron has the majority of the Cavs assists with 6.8 followed by Kyrie with 4.7 assists. So Rose 4.7, Melo 4.2 and Noah at 4 assists would be a pretty good group. I think KP will improve on his assists this year as well.
