the team looks good. But we still need to see the halfcourt offense and defense. I am excited about the season.
Nice.
Kyle O'Quinn definitely looks lighter and more mobile from what I've seen so far.
Love seeing Noah's touch passes and hand offs from the post. Had nice assists to a trailing KP for 3, driving Courtney Lee on a give and go, and a nice hand off to DRose. I feel like it's possible Noah may lead this team in assists, or at least average 4-5apg. I think we may see Melo, Rose and Noah all average around 4-5apg.
They simply need time to keep working and gelling. I liked what Phil did with this roster and seeing even just the scrimmages you can see the kind of talent we have and the BBIQ and Skill level. Key guys like Noah and Lee will only help the ball movement and enhance the efficiency of this offense. The Ball Movement should be special this year.

If we get 7 from Rose, 4 from Melo, 5 from Noah than things in that starting line up are looking good

Noah averaged 3.8 assist in 21.9 mins last year. He gets those dimes even in limited playing time. At 30mins that's 5.2 per game. So if he played 24-28 mins he will be good for at minimal 4. Maybe playing with Melo, KP, Rose, Lee gets him to 5 in 24-28.

bottom line I love the mix of ball movers, shooters, finishers in this lineup. Your two big scorers in Rose/Melo are both looking to get more people involved. Lee shoots. KP shoots. Melo shoots. Noah passes. Rose penetrates. Then we have guys who can beat you 1-1 and create as well.. good size, nice mix of youth/maturity. Very happy with where we are

YUP!!! The most balanced and skilled roster we've had in awhile. Guys are also at a point in their career where they just want to win. Guys are taking a very mature approach to this season. Those guys on the bench are very much in the mold of LT. Guys that are smart, actually have skills and work hard. Very much Phil types of players.

Melo has also never played with a ball moving big like Noah either. So it will be interesting if this is a dynamic that enhances Melo. We all know Melo is deadly catch and shoot player. So if Rose and Noah are creating these catch and shoot opportunities then Melo could go off.
Also good ball movement from the big men becomes contagious since its rare and will inspire others to do the same. Players like Willy and KOQ also have shown flashes of quality ball movement from what I have seen from them. So Noah could get them going in that department.

Totally agree. These are the kinds of things that I was talking about when I was arguing that this Knicks team is likely to exceed the predictions. It's not just about health. There are very real BASKETBALL reasons why this team has so much potential. Including more leadership, experience and depth. No one has to force anything. Just play team ball and it will all fall into place.
It almost seems odd to me to say, but I do expect teams to lay off Noah when he has the ball since he is such an effective passer and let him take bad shots (for him). But, I also expect KP6 to burn them on that with his uncanny putbacks. It's like an insult intended as a compliment. In short, I really think we have the personnel to turn that weakness into a strength.

Melo is strong on the boards as well.
Also keep in mind Noah will put the ball on the floor. He can move into space and still find guys cutting or floating.
Lots of skill in display. Guys are passing the ball. That's a good sign. Everyone looks to be in top shape which is always a problem in training camp.

Was just about to say this. Give him space and he is putting the ball on the floor for a closer attempt or creating when the defense looks to collapse.
Isnt # 25 Chaisson Randle?

Noah sees the entire floor too not just what's in front of him. If Someone is open he will find them...
That play where lee, Noah, Melo and KP all touched the ball on 4 passes was beautiful. If they can be that fluid then we really well have a nice team. 5 guys... strong leadership, strong poise, strong passers, high charecter....

yeah yeah ok. I was going to say Randle looks pretty physical but that is Rose! lol
Knicks rookie with catchy nickname may be Carmelo’s backup: Knicks rookie small forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas has an intriguing nickname from his friends back in Lithuania. While Phil Jackson has branded him "Kuz," his buddies have a niftier one. “It’s ‘Cheese,’ " Kuzminskas told The Post after practice this week. "I’m smiling all the time almost. When you take a picture, you say ‘Cheese.’ That’s my nickname." Kuzminskas, 26, has plenty to smile about now. -- New York Post

The balance in this line up reminds me of phils lakers and bulls line ups..shooters, scorers, passers, snipers, shot blockers, rebounders..

Noah is also very good at initiating the fast break, great outlet passes. One of the best.
