After watching last season games vs Cavs i think Porzingis, he feels very comfortable playing with them and Love.
Love is the type of PF who porzingis has a tough time defending. He'll have his hands full. Rose tends to get up for these matchups, so I expect to play well offensively against Kyrie. We have enough offensive options, so scoring shouldn't be a problem. Defensively is where we need to be focused.

I think also Love have problems defending KP
With the team we have now, we can have three primary scorers.

history says otherwise... he's killed Love in the past and I expect him to again. I expect Noah to get the best of Tristan Kardashian as well. The problem obviously is how badly Lebron and Kyrie light up Rose and Melo. Honestly I expect to get spanked, but I would be thrilled if we made them win it in the last couple minutes

Rose and Kyrie have had some epic battles. Melo and LBJ have as well. I am hoping it is like opening night 2012 when the Knicks beat the Heat after the hurricane.

Not shocked to hear that. I mean Love is not athletic, KP is LONG and athletic. Both are smart players. Love will have to be on top of his game to get the better of KP - that athleticism and length, coupled with the IQ, is a bit much. On Defense, what can love do against most? Against KP? lol
We have a pretty nice team. Would love to see us use the bench through this season and be fresh for the playoffs. Anything is possible.
I think we have a nice thing going with KP and Melo and Rose. Damn, really, whoever is hot, just go with them. And we have a few other cats who can score. I think as the year goes on, we are going to have, IF we learn to play together, a better team than when Kidd was here.

It was a wash, with Kristaps edging love out the first two games, them nullifying each other the third game and Love clearly outplaying Kristaps the third matchup. Keep in mind that Love started the season slow under Blast, but heated up around the time Lue became coach. Also, KP was also struggling with the rookie wall.

don't bet against kp6 in this matchup.

utilizing the bench is an absolute mandate in my opinion. i think it's one of the most important things a coach can do and i never liked short benches during the regular season. i want him to use ten players.
kp6
melo
noah
lee
fell/ennings i don't really care neither really move the needle if titles are the goal
thomas
hernangomez
baker
kuzminskas
vujacic/o'quinn tough call

love is not nearly the athlete kp6 is, and is probably whole bunch shorter. expect early foul trouble for him, or else kp6 is going to have a big game against him. the young man looks unstoppable against 90% of the guys he'll face.... that's your first option right there.

Yeah Melo doesn't get punk'D by Lebron and Rose is the same against Kyrie!!! This team may not have the chemistry that the Cavs have at this stage but they can match up just fine! I actually think the Knicks have the best chance to beat the Cavs of any team in the East if they meet in the playoffs.

winning entails exploiting mismatches. who has the greatest mismatch in the knicks favor, champ? you have until tuesday to figure that out.
KP is too mobile for Love... Plus KP with a more effective handle this yr and keeping the ball high when going to the rim....Love can't match that...

so kp6 deserves the most shots and usage. lets see how much hornacek coaches that way. his time-outs could be telling.
Some of you really need to stop. the difference between the Knicks and Cavs is not just chemistry. Doesn't mean they wont win, they might, they've done it before with a worse cast. Anything can happen in one regular season game. For this particular group, I'd think a balanced attack would work best. make the Cavs defend from multiple positions.

I think the comments weren't just about this one game. This is going to be a continuing theme as the Knicks develop their chemistry on both ends. I actually do think the Knicks roster can compete with the Cavs, in theory. They have to go out and prove it but in terms of ability I think the Knicks roster has some aspects that can matchup well against the Cavs best players.
Lebron - Melo
Kyrie - Rose
Love - KP
JR - Lee
Thompson - Noah
There is no major mismatch at the top of the Knicks roster.

People are all talking about a primary scorer, smh. After watching preseason, I don't know how we can be taking about a primary scorer and putting it on Horny to coach the team to spoon feed KP...
Our teams identify is its unselfishness. That should be our focus as fans not trying to force KP to be what Melo used to be.

Not to be pro-KP on a Knicks board, but KP was a rookie last year and Love has how many years of experience?
I really think the matchup is not that big of an issue (going forward).
Looking forward to seeing how KP plays but more importantly, it is going to take some time to get this team working well together.
Once we are, I think the KP vs. Love matchup is going to be big in our favor.

For one game, maybe. LeBron just showed why he is the best player in the world when folks were ready to hand that over to a dude that doesn't guard his own position in Curry, and quite honestly doesn't guard anyone well at all. LeBron went all world to come back from a 3-1 deficit. Melo isn't on LeBron's level, that mismatch is blatant. we were just discussing if melo is even in the top 15....lol, but you wanna compare to the best player in the league? The issue you'll find is if the Knicks win, guys like you will swear from the mountains how even the teams are, when reality is LeBron's team don't go full pedal down early on, they turn up when it matters as the games mean more. For instance, the Heat only was the top seed iirc just once during his time there. 1st year was the Bulls,..they got smacked by the Heat, then the Bulls again, but Rose went down...wasnt expecting nothing any different. 2012-13 was the only year the Heat actually was the 1st seed and that had a lot to do with who was 2nd and 3rd. The fourth year in Miami, the pacers were the 1`st seed. Bye bye Indy, heat spanked them again enroute to four straight NBA finals.
But it's plain disrespect to think a team has a legit chance to knock off a team led by a player who has made the finals 6 straight years. As I stated before, a balanced attack. if any player goes in thinking they will dominate their matchup, they might, but the team will take an L.
