Knicks · I know it's early but a Rose for Rubio could be an option?? (page 1)

TLover @ 11/15/2016 2:20 PM
Considering our defense has been a problem, Rubio could help. He's also better suited for the triangle despite his shooting issues.
Thibs might not mind a reunion with Rose. Dunn is their future point guard anyway.
Bc Rose is expiring and Rubio has 2 years left.. maybe we get a sweetener like Noah for Petrovic ;-)
Knixkik @ 11/15/2016 2:31 PM
I have a feeling Thibs will want more for Rubio. He will want a 1st round pick and a rotation player.
arkrud @ 11/15/2016 2:41 PM
You are thinking about building all-European team?
Rubio,?,Kuz, Gomes, KP...
Need to find some SG...
TLover @ 11/15/2016 2:46 PM
I'm thinking about building a team with Porzingus at the 5 & Melo at the 4. Surround them with sound defensive wings.

Pg: Rubio
Sg: Holiday
Sf: Lee
Pf: Melo
C: KP

TLover @ 11/15/2016 2:49 PM
Perimeter players I mean
Welpee @ 11/15/2016 2:52 PM
Just because Rubio gets a lot of steals doesn't make him a good defensive player. Plus he has three years left on his deal at $13.5 - $14.8 million - which in the new market isn't bad, but still I don't want to be tied that long to a younger version of Calderon minus the ability to shot.
TLover @ 11/15/2016 2:53 PM
I'm a D.Rose fan and want him to succeed in NYC but he is not that much of a better shooter than Rubio.
This it could be a better scheme fit for both players.

That should be the idea for next year. Then you can always bring in Noah and Willy off the bench for extended minutes against bigger, more physical teams.

Minny want Rose?
Minny let him expire and walk, thus, they are dumping Rubio for a 7/8ths season from Rose?

Rose, a first rounder for Rubio?
Thibs even interested with a reunion?
Minny change direction of rebuilding with yoot with new coach 10 games in enough time to fully warrant such a decision?

smackeddog @ 11/15/2016 3:08 PM
If rose doesn't work out, I'd rather just let him expire and sign a free agent
TLover @ 11/15/2016 4:03 PM
D.Rose has shown he is still an explosive player. Combine that with an expiring contract. That's a valuable commodity.

The free agent rational can apply to Russell Westbrook, which is when Rubio expires.

callmened @ 11/15/2016 4:56 PM
why would any team trade for rose who is an expiring contract?!?!?!?

coach/gm thibs is way smarter than that

knicks1248 @ 11/15/2016 5:04 PM
Rubio makes rose look like the iron man ac green/cal ripken..

It's called a salary dump. But I agree for this season I'd rather keep that asset for ourselves. Rubio just not good enough to warrant losing Rose' value as a salary dump.

Knicks67 @ 11/15/2016 7:23 PM
I would honestly support that trade if we got a pick with Rubio or something. He's a fantastic passer and playmaker, handy defender and not much worse of a shooter than Rose. I think right now we have too many scorers not enough facilitators. Then next years draft you pick a good backup Pg or look to Jennings for another year and develop Randle. Makes sense to me honestly, they get a salary dump and possibly someone to lead them to the playoffs, we get a better fit for a couple of years.
WaltLongmire @ 11/15/2016 8:31 PM
Rubio seems to have slowed down somewhat. Injury + some added weight, even if muscle, has reduced his speed, IMO...shows on both ends of the court.

The other issue is that he's failed to develop his jumper over the years (even though his shooting form is far from terrible), something that's always kept him from being a star in this league.

Let Rose do his thing...We don't like him, he's gone after this year. Rubio has 2 years after this season- I would think this could become an issue, and Phil would not want to be locked in with him.

Welpee @ 11/16/2016 12:02 AM
Players always seem to look better in other uniforms until they put on the Knicks jersey.
TLover @ 11/16/2016 12:42 AM
Not trying to make this an all euro team but I would take a chance on Rubio for 2 more years after this bc think this is a system he can flourish in. Especially would take a chance if Noah is included in the deal for C Petrovic (1yr after this, is out for the year & we could get an injury exception)
and include 6'10 shooter Bejalica (Serbian dude)or Sf Shabazz Mohammed.. you make the deal.
TLover @ 11/16/2016 12:46 AM
The players have to fit the system unless the player is a superstar (Jordan, Pippen, Kobe, shaq)

who?

And Rubio is not a younger Calderon. Rubio can beat anyone in the league off the dribble. He's just not much of a finisher and a lousy shooter. He's a very good on the ball defender and very fast.

Also remember he NO PGs signed next year. Rose and Jennings are both FAs
