I agree with your post. However he doesn't had many bad shooting games. he has been a pretty consistent 20 ppg player this year and he hasn't even reached the tip of the iceberg in terms of his potential. Like you said he does so many things even when he isn't scoring his usual amount of points. Look I have never disliked melo and I have learned to appreciate his good traits like being able to score in a variety of ways and rebounding. However at this point I do feel it is time to let our emerging superstar take the reigns and for melo to kinda slide into number 2 role. I actually think it is a good thing for melo and for us. he wont have that type of pressure anymore and it will give KP even more confidence

WOW...Hope you have a fire extinguisher handy, you pants are about to explode...
Come on holfresh why does everything have to be a issue between us. I think you're a good due and a great fan. Lets just enjoy the Knicks and hope the winning streak continues.

So does that mean we're cool ?

Of course..But just a question tho..Why don't you want KP to earn his role on this team instead of just given to him?

He is earning it. Without him we would be in trouble
And where do you suggest we would be without Melo?

The Knicks were 0-10 without Melo last year. They were 3-4 if Melo played and Porzingis didn't.

Yeah if the question is no Melo or Melo which team is better but if the Knicks had the 25 million to spend on another player what would their record be

Marquee guys are taking more money to stay with their teams. Young guys with potential are doing the same and teams matched their poison pill contracts this year. I can't think of anyone that would come that would come close to having the on court impact Melo has. Can you come up with names?

He is earning it. Without him we would be in trouble

And how do you come to that conclusion especially after watching last night?

Every player has an off night. Lets be honest Melo wasn't exactly playing like a HOF the previous 3 games before last night

Well my point is that a player has to show he can carry the load night in and night out before unseating a guy like Melo who has carried 50 win teams for the last decade...

You still have no clue what KP will physically look like in the second half with all the minutes he is logging..This is new territory for him...Instead of using Melo and Rose to ease into the role, you think he can handle the load a scrutiny..When he becomes the man, people will notice a no name like Bjelicia was torching him last night...
I just feel its been a long time since we had this type of talent who is gonna get even better . Maybe since Ewing. Anyway besides KP I'm very happy about Willy and Kuz as well who have really been a spark off the bench

Well don't forget winning is a talent too..KLove can attest to that..

I agree winning is the most important. I know we disagree about KP vs Melo BUT in the end we both want the knicks to win...thats all that matters. If KP has a bad night and melo has a big night I will be happy and vice versa

But it just seems like it not about winning, Your theme and others this year has been KP should be number one, not winning...I think that's why you see threads like this..
Its NEVER been my theme. I want this team to win so Damn badly no matter what. This is kinda why I get aggravated sometimes is when I get questioned for being a "true" fan. I have been a basketball guy my entire life both athletically and as a die hard knick fan. I try to be as honest as possible even if it isn't the most popular things to say. I admit when we first drafted KP I WAS NOT happy. I thought he would be either a project or another euro player who never makes it. I'm glad a I was wrong because other that Towns he has been the best rookie in that class by a mile. So of course I'm excited to see him become a superstar especially since we haven't had a homegrown one for years. But despite that I truly menat what I said....as long as the Knicks win I'm happy

But he is not a superstar...You don't even pay attention to how he gets his points...You don't even pay attention to see who is on the floor attracting the attention for KP to get the open looks he is getting..You think he is taking wide open threes because he is talented...When KP becomes the man, the defenders they put on Melo, they will start putting on KP..And when he starts scoring on them, with other guys flashing at him at the same time, then he will be a superstar...

Don't say I don't pay attention. I know melo is superman apparently but you gotta give a little credit to KP

Sure, I give KP lots of credit, he is a very good player but superstar???

I said "become a superstar" I didn't say he was there yet. I don't think we have a superstar to be honest. I mean LeBron james is a superstar, steph curry, Durant...those type of guys. KAT is on his way there too

Right, Melo won the scoring title and led the team to 54 wins and second round, when we had not gotten that far in a decade, yet you say KP after scoring 30 pts is the first superstar we had since Ewing..KAT hasn't won jack...Unibrow took his team to the playoffs, that's a superstar...

Melo's biggest sin is that he's not Lebron. Ironic, I would bet anything "those type of guys" consider Melo a superstar though many of his team's fans don't.

Yeah, Melo's sin is he had the ballz to come here/force himself here/rape the franchise to get here when Lebron didn't. Not being Lebron is a terrible thing to suffer from.

KP has the makings of a truly great player, but some people can't figure out that demanding the team be handed over now to a 2nd year player who sat out the end of his historic rookie year is sort of a shot at Melo. But it is what is is, I guess.

Of course he won't. This hypothetical player who would have signed with New York and lead us to the promise land is the real unicorn.
