Knicks · Hope Rose is okay - but if he just went AWOL, you have to trade him. (page 6)

Jmpasq @ 1/10/2017 6:45 AM
Only way we dump Noah is with lottery picks no sane team is taking him and unfortunately we are the dumbest team in the NBA

I understand having disagreements but you cant just go AWOL. Its the ultimate disrespect to your organization and teamates. I doubt anyone still wants to give him a long term deal now

There you go again passing judgement with zero clue what really happened or is happening..

passing judgment? I said if there was a family emergency or something i would understand but its clear thats not the case at all. Pretty much everyone here is saying the same thing as i am

Isola just tweeted it appears he maybe in Chicago. His family is there. Not sure if it is a family situation because I have no clue why he didn't show up. Too early to make assumptions in my opinion.
i dont think its early to start to piece things together. We know there is something going on between him and jeff. I hope you are right and its a big misunderstanding but that is starting to seem unlikely. You cant just no show a game without informing the team with a legit reason

dude, you can't even do that on 9-5 at company where you worked for 10 yrs..no show no call is a serious issue on every level..Rose is binded by a 21 million dollar contract that im sure he breached big time.

thats a disrespect on so many levels it aint even funny, the team, the fans, the coach..like WTF dude..I can only imagine how pissed off and frustrated he must be feeling because he got benched a couple of games last season, and had no problem with it.

I don't understand why people are running off with their own narrative..Rose is a pro and has never done anything like this..Something serious could be going down with his family..That makes the most sense with no info..Why run off on tangents...

Yeah. That's what happened.

if it was a family issue and he isnt mad at management then surely he would have informed management. Players dont no show games without a reason

Seems like you wait and find out before making assumptions. Something is up. He went to shoot around in the morning.
yes he was a shootaround. But the fact remains that you dont no show without a legit reason. Its clear jeff and him are at least having disagreements.

Yeah, given what we know and Noah's reaction, it seems like he just bounced. Obviously you wait and see. But if his kid was really sick or something, it's the easiest thing in the world to text someone with the team or at least tell his agent to contact the team and explain the absence. This is unheard of. I've never seen this in 25+ years of watching the NBA for any team, let alone the Bad News Knicks.

The Shelbourne report looks like a planted PR story to relieve the pressure. I'm sure its intended as much to save Rose's reputation as the Knicks front-office [though the front-office is not to blame]. Rose will have to be moved regardless of the upcoming narratives.

The season is not trashed at all. The Rose incident will trigger some roster changes but that's business as usual for the Knicks. Most affected will be Noah. If Rose is in breach of contract, he could get released and in a nod and wink, Noah may get traded to whoever is interested in Rose [unlikely but possible].

Given the poor play, chances are a winning record for the rest of the month will make all this forgettable. If the Knicks are smart they'll treat this as an opportunity for course correction. If they aren't then the season will be an endless soap-opera of losses and recrimination.

Probably wise not to hold our collective breaths on that one eh?!

KNICKSdom @ 1/10/2017 6:57 AM
Good morning. Rose is a coward for going awol on his own team before game. Message received. I have no answer on Melo ejection but going wtf at his ejection on top of this. This is not just basketball but NBA politics at play. Big money involved, easy lose your minds.
Knicksfan @ 1/10/2017 7:29 AM
If there was a championship for turmoil and controversy, the Knicks would finally be a perennial juggernaut at something.
Chandler @ 1/10/2017 7:36 AM
Many Knicks fans loved Latrell Spreewell and he choked his coach so in terms of precedent that beats this even under the worst of scenarios

I'm going to reserve judgment until I hear more

My own speculation is that he's hyper competitive (good) not selfish, and that he flipped out with all the losing and perhaps feeling he was being blamed/scape goated. Despite whether or not he's a good defender I suspect he feels he's giving the necessary effort. (And he does fight over screens at least). He might be looking at other players (Melo) and Thinking they play defense 50% of the time so why is he being called out. Not saying that's the most rational thinking just my speculation

If anything like that is true we'll be lucky to get a second rounder plus a dud player back for him

ccch @ 1/10/2017 8:21 AM
Is Rose going to be another Marbury...more trouble than he's worth and very high maintenance!
Nalod @ 1/10/2017 8:30 AM
Rose is stoic on the court which gives him a cool appearance. I kind of liked that.
His history off the court is of a selfish player who is concerned with his contract and taking care of his own business.
That is the truth of a professional athlete. He has had run in's with the bulls about his rehab and his comment about his next contract at the start of LAST SEASON was telling.
My biggest concern was his on court health which he appears to be handling OK.

He was late and missed 2/3rds of training camp and has said he don't like the Triangle. Yet, that is the cultural future of the team. Phil wants a systematic approach, a style. Then find players who fit it. Rose, like most players can adapt and embrace it. Its not rocket science!!!
But if it conflicts with his goal of a max contract because he will be judged on statistics then its a problem for him.

I thought the win in Milwaukee was a turn around and that the team is bigger than any one player.
I did not see the indy game and if he and Coach had words then its been boiling up. His turn overs and circus shots are disruptive and destructive to the cause.

As for a trade, I suppose a team that trades for him has to look at keeping him long term and at least he is healthy.
We thinks.
one can imagine if he has a knee problem that might rock his foundation and cause him to bolt. I hope that is not the case.
If healthy there are teams that would want him. I like him in Philly, Miami, perhaps in ATL, Minny for obvious reasons.

Damage control and wishful fan thinking.

Maybe Chicago wants him back? They are erratic.

Chandler @ 1/10/2017 8:53 AM
^^^ rose for rondo straight up? hahaha. NY media would have a field day

not saying it's not true but i never thought of him as a selfish player, and when he said he's just trying to read the game and not into his state, i believed him. That was my sense of things watching the game.

He (and Melo and even KP) has taken some plays off on defense though, and i suspect JH was starting to call people out on this.

JH has been vacillating on whether the players are capable or merely unwilling of playing good D

Still sort of unbelievable that he couldn't let his agent or anyone on the team know. I hope everything is ok. But if this were a normal person, they'd probably be fired from their job for just not showing up with no word.

Rose's family is in Chiraq..Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother got shot there while she was a star..

If my kids or parents are at risk, the last thing I'm thinking are about the Knicks and a basketball game..
Totally disagree. Unless someone is pointing a gun in your face there's no excuse. Especially since he didn't proactively call the team, they were tried reaching out to him. You know he had his cell phone with him, he couldn't answer a phone call or reply to a text? A phone call takes what 30 seconds, a text less than that. I'm willing to keep an open mind but I find it hard to come up with an excuse for not calling somebody on the team to let them know what's up.

He's barely in the league at this point and cost us a shot at Towns. I can personally do without him. Our love for trash players as Knicks fans is strange and since we hold our stars to irrational expectations it's not really an appealing place to play.

GustavBahler @ 1/10/2017 9:47 AM
Not buying the family excuse, the thought must have crossed his mind that the team would wonder (and worry) about his whereabouts for him to bail all of a sudden.

If he did travel to Chicago, he had plenty of time on his flight to make a call. If Rose is in Chicago it sounds more like his way of saying "I should have never left". I tend to agree.

Really? Playing 20+ minutes for NOP and putting up close to 10 pts every night - that is barely in the league?

I miss him because he didn't have a ton of talent, but he played tough, with heart and never was afraid to take and hit the big shot.

On paper, Rose has way more talent. But between the eyes, and as far as heart goes, thinking Langston would have been better to keep.

I would think Langston/Jennings would be better for now and the future than Jennings/Rose.

He's an 8th - 10th man. He was ok, nothing special. More a general comment about our love for mediocrity here. I didn't realize his average was around 10 pts. Good for him but we need to keep some of this stuff in perspective. Like Grant, who we loved, or Landry Fields, or Shump. In general this stuff gets taken too far and I assume that's where the post was going.

Nalod @ 1/10/2017 10:34 AM
"family issues" is even good WHEN you call the team and tell them your wherabouts!
If he didn't want to play he could play the "Injury" card.
If he didn't want to show up, he cold play the "Stomach flu" card.
If he mad at his coach and can't communicate he can call his agent and deal with that.
At the very worse put a towel on your head and stare at the owner.

Trade for Rondo? LOL, Im sure bulls would love that just to clear cap. I'd rather have Marbury back than Rondo!!!
As for Horny, the Morris thing was management and things got out of hand. Way too much positive from ex players to even pin that on Jeff.

My early guess is coach wants him to play a certain way and it don't jive with hanging free agent stats that are to get his next contract based on.
Other than that its been fun watching him play except for his turnover prone circus act.

Maybe its just Coach wants them at a higher level and the players are pushing back. That might be naive but a dude bolts without notice after a bad stretch is very juvenile.
Problem is we can let him expire but not much out there in free agent land this year, and new CBA grants stronger bird rights to home team.

Not to mention he was emotionally stable enough to book a flight, but couldn't make one phone call to the team?
