Yeah, this is a terrible sign. One of the constants with this team is they let the inmates run the asylum. Particularly under Dolan and Mills. Stars are given free reign here.

Just one of the many reasons we suck.

It really is. It was mentioned on a thread that possibly they are bringing him back into the fold to try to protect any 'value' to trade him and I can only pray that is the case. However I have no belief or expectation thats the case. The Knicks are a ball club without accountability, discipline or respect for their fans. This episode with Rose last night is just the latest in a long line of smacks to the mouth for our fan base. Along with Anthony's 3rd ejection of the season and a hammering at home to a poor team it was another embarrassing night for the NY Knicks.

The fact we have some impressionable and promising young players in the locker room like KP, Kuz, Baker etc only makes it worse. What an example to set both by our alleged 'stars' (yeah right) but also management in allowing this shit to go on unpunished.

Wow I don't see the deal happening but that's pretty good. Rose and Melo have both destroyed their trade value with their recent stunts. Unless the team turns things around it's gonna be tough to make a deal.

Does Miami still want to move on from Dragic? I believe McRoberts is hurt again. Miami might need something more from the Knicks but it might be worth it. Dragic did well for Jeff. Support the coach.

I would think Miami wants an expiring contract for them to have more cap space for the off season. That deal would clear cap for them and solve our pg problem. Could we throw in a second round pick as well?

I think that would be the smart move for all parties. The Knicks don't owe Rose anything at this point and this would show management supporting Jeff if Rose's actions were because of a confrontation with Jeff.

Maybe it was a family situation... or maybe that's the spin they came up with after the fact. It sure seems like curious timing that we was benched in the 4th quarter the previous two games and supposedly argued with the coach after the game... right before he had a family emergency.

If the Knicks are covering for Rose and trying to brush this off like it was nothing when he was actually abandoning the team... it's enabling a player's terrible behavior and it is yet again undermining any authority Jeff Hornacek has on this team.

They have very little chance of turning the season around if this is what I think it is.

I really think they should explore moving him for Dragic. I don't know where Miami is with Dragic at this point but in the past there were trade rumors. A move like that sends a message and supports the coach.

Yeah, I agree.

Dragic thrived under Hornacek and he'd do well in the offense here, too. Not sure Miami would want Rose unless they want to clear cap room early.

Agreed. Family emergency or not he handled this situation very poorly, and it it does become a fact that his frustration with the team motivated him to skip a game, then I don't want to see him anywhere near a basketball court in a Knick's Jersey imo.

I didn't like that Rose contacted Mills. The memories of Tyson trying to get Woodson fired through Mills are still too fresh. Maybe Phil is unreachable but it still is worrisome.

The GM runs the day to day of the team and oversee personnel. It is entirely correct for Rose to have called Mills especially if travel arrangement were to be made. Mills would have the authority to delegate and also the oversight of financially enable payroll to deduct the cost of travel. Phil could have received the call but would have delegated it anyway. Now, I can't really decipher what phils day to day roles are but I would say Phil more or less plans the strategic short and long term plans, regarding player personel and over scouting. This includes the oversight of coaches. I'd guess Mills oversee's the legal/contractual aspects of players/coach's and with their agents. GM's do more than just man the phones and dream of trades. They actually have oversight to insurance and travel. Not that they are making reservations but they have people reporting to him about it.

Thus, I'd guess you call the GM. He can actually report to Phil and Dolan his wearabouts and what is being done to get him back. Very effiecient!

Some choice quotes from that article:
Minutes before Monday night’s tipoff, when it was cryptically announced that Brandon Jennings would start because Rose “wasn’t with the team,” I initially thought there was a family emergency. So did the Knicks, who were so alarmed they reportedly sent someone to the point guard’s apartment to check on him. Gradually, as the Pelicans’ blowout of the Knicks progressed, the situation took a turn for the surreal and then just kind of kept on driving. It became clear early on that the Knicks had no idea where Rose was; he had attended the morning shootaround in Westchester that day and was listed as the starter 90 minutes before the game. They had no idea why he wasn’t at the game. And, as if flying blind, had no idea what to say about the situation. Which, theoretically, is the easiest part.

If Rose were missing because of a family emergency, then you would have someone (preferably Jackson, the Knicks’ president of basketball operations, but GM Steve Mills would also be fine) say Rose was out due to “personal reasons.” If he were absent without the team’s leave then you should say something about Rose being AWOL and mention the possibility of a suspension. The only reason to do what the Knicks did, which was let head coach Jeff Hornacek handle the questions and rely on Joakim Noah to confirm, via cell phone, that Rose was “OK,” is that the team had no idea what was going on and was receiving no direction from the top. Which is the Knicks, historically, in miniature.

2013: Acquired Andrea Bargnani for New York’s 2016 first-round pick, two second-round picks (2014, 2017), and three irrelevant players. This was a larceny so grand and brazen, a daylight mugging of such viciousness, that to this day NO ONE HAS TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR PULLING THE TRIGGER ON THE DEAL. (It was allegedly done at Dolan’s behest.)

Mills maybe the guy that he is supposed to call. I just have too many memories of Mills enabling dysfunction.

It's a very good article. Also reminds me, in the mist of all of this, we still are better off than any of the previous years this decade. Having Porzingis and all our draft picks is a saving grace. I just keep thinking of these things and hope all this other stuff eventually passes.

Yeah, I hope so, too. But the coddling and enabling of players... it's not good and has been this way for multiple GMs now. You have to think it's Mills and Dolan. Particularly in NYC, where players are going to be pulled in every direction... enabling them to get away with whatever they want is a terrible idea.

You know, I know you're trying to be funny there's some sense in this. I was thinking that sometimes elderly people do stuff like this. Call their kids talking crazy thoughts and you don't know whether to take it seriously or not. If you don't take it seriously you will never forgive yourself if something were to happen.

Who knows? I have no idea how old his mother is or anything about her. My issue with Rose will always be not notifying somebody last night before the game. No excuse for it based on what we know at this point.

Rose for Dragic makes us better on offense but same boat pathetic on defense.

Time to think younger and athletic with this team. If there's going to be a vet, it should be Melo. No more vets with their best days behind them.

I'd like to deal Rose to a contender or playoff team willing to part with a decent role player back on a good contract and a 2017 1st round draft pick.

The Isola hatefest wants its readers to join in......
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basket...

In a way a team can become like family and maybe by embracing the kid all can succeed going forward. Give Rose a one year deal and let him become comfortable in his skin. Naturally there is so much an employer can do but he is untradable at the moment and obviously in need of help.
Most employers are empathetic and try to help their people. Rose is a creature empowered by his basketball talent and has not developed like most of us into adults. its a different path altogether. He is not a criminal, has not done drugs, escaped paying taxes, or hit anyone......He mentally made a mistake. He does not have a history of doing this.

JR was an entitled spoiled brat who thought Stop signs were beneath him and his friend died because of it. Most fans forgave JR over and over for all his transgressions. But Rose misses one game, and yes he should have called. If he did, non of this would be an issue. Isola has no story. Yeash.

We help rehab a player with a bad ankle or other injury, why not help him get his mind straight. Can't hurt anybody? Any of you really financially or emotionally tied to him one way of the other? It not like he ran out of a burning room and left his grandmother to die, he could not function on the basketball court last nite. He might need more time. He might need to walk away from it all. Or he might choose to realize life is not about "being a max player" and life need adjust to less than a MVP trajectory he had at age 22!!!

Maybe the only thing in his life that is not tainted by money or him being financially needed is his son who is pure love for him.
Rose gets a pass. Pouch Isola, a bitter man he is. Selling hate to further his brand. Not buying!
