Did Love play?
Just thinking. Man must be tough in that lockerroom or for Love. He must know that LBJ is essentially saying trade him for Melo.

Yeah, Love played he had 21pts 16reb 5ast... he's playing well for them this year.

Weirdly, I think the Cavs miss JR Smith a lot right now.

JR is looking good right now, with them losing. Love is a very good player and is playing well this year. Dont think he is their problem. Just wonder how he would fit with KP. But here is the thing, as mentioned many times, why would any team that gets a call from Phil want to trade anything substantial? Think Phil got overly excited when he thought LBJ would want "A play maker" He didn't realize LBG meant a PG. And did he forget the "Posee" comment. Why would LBJ want to help UNcle Phil out? The big thing for me, against a Melo trade, is how anyone expects that other teams will offer much for a guy with NTC. They know if Phil comes a calling, they are one of maybe 2 teams Melo wants to go to. Not the best position to be in when trying to negotiate.

bold = my exact question too

re melo, Phil has leverage. Lebron is smart enough to know that they probably should have lost last year. Kicking dray out was a bit of a payback for OKC series, and to extend the Cavs series. GS is stronger now than then. He and the Cavs know this. Do you think a small tweak move is going to do it? they don't need any move to make the finals, but they probably need something like this to win.

The Love of old, where he dominated the paint would be okay. But the standing in the corner waiting for three's, not so much. Specially with KP doing the same. Would not mind Love with a first round pick for Melo. But not the Cavs pick.

Pass on Love. Dont believe anyone is going to get as much out of Love as LeBron did at this stage in his career.

The Daily News is pulling their info from Woj... it's real now..

Armed with a hope that Carmelo Anthony will eventually waive his no-trade clause, the New York Knicks have reached out to the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers to probe their interest in a trade, league sources told The Vertical.

Knicks president Phil Jackson is determined to find a destination and deal that Anthony would agree to accept before the Feb. 23 NBA trade deadline, league sources said.

Jackson is determined to rid the roster of Anthony and his contract, and start rebuilding around Kristaps Porzingis, league sources said.

The Clippers are a team that would interest Anthony, league sources said.

Anthony makes $24.6 million this season and has $54 million remaining over the next two years of his contract. His deal includes a 15 percent trade kicker and a player option for the 2018-19 season.

ESPN first reported the Knicks contact with the Cavaliers.

I will puke if Melo goes to the Celtics.

(Though I think this is the right move for the team.

And the Celtics can probably give us the best package of young solid prospects and picks.)

"Al Iannazzone: Melo also said the meeting with Knicks officials was not contentious as it was originally reported."

Now we reading there are a few teams out there in discussion. I can conclude that there is not the level of emotionality attached as some of you are with this.
Phil gave The NTC so Melo would have control. He does. Phil gave him the money, and Melo knew the deal.
What is to our advantage is Melo would not want a team to gut itself, which means it would be a trade of future assets to build with. What do we know:

Boston might feel Cav's are vulnerable. They might want to go for it. They have assets. I think they are under the salary cap and can absorb some.
Clippers are stuck, they are playing well without Grif. Window is closing. Can Boston compete with Griff?
Cav's are not doing well, Lebron is not happy, Griffin/owner must be at his wits end, and at some point lebron (after next year) can leave. They do miss Smith. That has to scare them.

Can Rose be a better playmaker without melo? I think it might enhance his game. Rose has chemistry issues with Melo. Rose is not a catch and shoot guy, nor is Melo. This hurts both of them.
neither is good about moving off the ball, they are the playmakers and not in their DNA.

Im for moving melo if the ball can move better. The future is not with him.

The Cavs rejection probably lowered his price, and the word is out that Phil is somewhat desperate. I will be impressed if he still manages a good deal. Would go a long way in rehabbing his image IMO.
