Knicks · Cavs reject love for melo swap (page 4)

GustavBahler @ 1/25/2017 5:09 PM
Melo didnt help his case by sounding so desperate. Saying that he doesn't have time to waste and he is pushing 33 puts the ball in the Cavs court. LeBron was the one who sounded desperate until this quote. God help us if we end up with another Ewing trade.

Not happy with that at all. The nuggets get to dump Faried, the Cavs get to dump Shump and the Knicks lose Melo.
Shump and Faried both have 3 years left on their crappy deals. If that is how the Knick front office wants to make up for Melo's salary I think they are being dumb.

Phew! Thank God others see this the same way as a player dump for everybody to NY where we get 1 protected pick. lol!

If this is a real deal then my guess is KP leaves NY the first chance he gets. Also, it will be a lot tougher to get cable companies to pay for MSG with the clown show the Knicks will be rolling out every night.

You think the Knicks will crumble because they traded Melo?? Seriously?? KP will be a life long Knick unless he's traded.

No it's just a terrible trade we can get way more value for melo... melo for dray and iggy works Phil needs to make that call

I would love to get Dray but no way does GSW trade him for Melo.

You really don't think golden state would pull the trigger on a melo for dray, iggy ... it all but seals the deal for another chip for golden state

It's already sealed in my eyes and Dray is a better player than Melo is right now and has an all around game. Dray could average 25 points a night if he wasn't such an unselfish player and he plays great defense.

Don't get me wrong dray is a great player but melo is a whole different caliber star. Melos 22/6/3 vs drays 10/8/7 melo would easly average 6 assists a game for GS maybe more

Melo and KD would be a terrible fit together. Draymond is the perfect center/defender/distributor for that team. No way Golden State does that...

crzymdups @ 1/25/2017 5:17 PM
I don't know... this interests me... I guess we'll see where it goes...

I'd be thrilled to get another first round pick and also to make our own pick better by losing more.

Not thrilled about having long-term commitments to Faried and Shump if that proposed deal goes through.

Do you have any idea about the construction of a team, defense, offense, rebounding, play makers, scoring, etc?..What do you think GS is lacking that they need in Melo??

I'm sorry but a

Zaza
Melo
Durant
Klay
Curry

Would be absolutely unstoppable that's 4 super stars and both Durant and melo are above average rebounders ... plus I'm making the rumor if I'm Phil to strong arm Cleveland they would be terrified if melo went to golden state

Yeah in a video game...

I don't know melo owns the left side and Durant owns the right curry and klay would be wide open for threes all day long ...

Getting back to my point though having Phil call golden state about melo would terrify Cleveland... but yet again a trade for love would be terriblely undervaluing melo, melo s ten times the offensive talent love is ....

This is Cleveland spreading a false rumor to try and steal melo . Phil needs to create a rumor to terrify Cleveland we should be able to do better then a love for melo, melo is way better then love

fitzfarm @ 1/25/2017 5:28 PM
Also love has been playing awful basketball lately esp defensively vs GS he played all but 3 minutes

Ironically Love is holding his man to a lower FG% than Melo is. Melo's played bad defense this year.
Regardless, I wouldn't want to do this trade. I'd rather just have an expiring contract, and if possible, a draft pick.

Is Love guarding 3s too? Honestly I bet he is guarding 4s better than Melo is when he is at the 4 too. I think catch and shoot Melo would be great on the Cavs because I doubt he would get the iso opportunities he gets in NY. I read earlier today that Melo is shooting some ridiculous number from spot ups/catch n shoots this year. I think it was 62%+.

If the cavs could get Melo to trade 5 or 6 of his iso/post ups for only 3 spot ups they'd hit the gold mine. Also, I'd love to see 3/4 pick n rolls/pops with LBJ and Melo trading off as ball handler and screen guy.

Knixkik @ 1/25/2017 5:44 PM
I would make a trade if we can bring in a 3rd team especially. To me denver makes the most sense. They can use Love. He would fit in nicely with Jokic and Gallinari in the frontcourt. We could get back Murray, who i think is going to be very good, Chandler, who can essentially replace Melo in the lineup and bring about 2/3 of the offense with better defense, and maybe both of Denver's 1st round picks this year, one of which would come from Memphis. Basically 2 picks in the 14-20 range. Cleveland can also get Nelson from them, who is a backup PG target and ideal for them.
fitzfarm @ 1/25/2017 5:49 PM
regardless phil NEEDS to come out and say we never would trade melo for love and mock the trade to keep melos value up

Yeah but there are reports out that Love has a bad back and the Cavs would like to get out from his contract. I don't know how true that is (Michael Kay show).

That trade makes the warriors worse. A team with Curry, Durant, and Thompson definitely doesn't need a volume scorer. That's not a trade GSW would even consider.

Oh I think Melo would play very well on the Cavs - probably like he did in the Olympics. His huge contract makes it very hard to build a strong team. But if he goes to a place where the team is already built (and way over the cap anyway), it's the perfect situation.

I don't like all of the reporters coming out and saying the Cavs don't want Melo. How does a deal like this leak?
knicks1248 @ 1/25/2017 6:27 PM
Phil makes trades to get rid of players that don't run his precious triangle or seem like their disgruntal...he would trade melo for a bag of rocks.
