Worse? I think he pretty much fits in with the rest of them.

We could get back Murray, who i think is going to be very good, Chandler, who can essentially replace Melo in the lineup and bring about 2/3 of the offense with better defense, and maybe both of Denver's 1st round picks this year, one of which would come from Memphis. Basically 2 picks in the 14-20 range. Cleveland can also get Nelson from them, who is a backup PG target and ideal for them.

I'd call the Denver package "plan B". IMO, plan A is the trade with Boston that gets us BKNY's pick.

I'd be thrilled to get another first round pick and also to make our own pick better by losing more.

Not thrilled about having long-term commitments to Faried and Shump if that proposed deal goes through.

Crazy trade proposal...and Faried is a player who depends on a good distributor, which we don't have.
StarksEwing1 @ 1/25/2017 6:50 PM
I don't buy into the melo for Love offer. I would want picks so a third team would need to be involved

Not happy with that at all. The nuggets get to dump Faried, the Cavs get to dump Shump and the Knicks lose Melo.
Shump and Faried both have 3 years left on their crappy deals. If that is how the Knick front office wants to make up for Melo's salary I think they are being dumb.

Phew! Thank God others see this the same way as a player dump for everybody to NY where we get 1 protected pick. lol!

If this is a real deal then my guess is KP leaves NY the first chance he gets. Also, it will be a lot tougher to get cable companies to pay for MSG with the clown show the Knicks will be rolling out every night.

First Melo fans will live UK...

We don't really run the Triangle anymore.

What kind of rocks, by the way?

They just won the championship and they're currently in 1st. There isn't much rational incentive for them to break up their team, let alone to give away picks too.

Ha..We do run some triangle sets at times..I even saw it last game..

Phil wants to win here.

Imo, this is the media making up stuff again. They like to create and prolong controversy.

Phil is doing his job. He has accumulated a lot of young talent and the team is getting better.

I doubt he offered a trade for Love Love plays no D and is not a fit next to KP.

Why would Uncle Phil want Shump? One of the first guys, he couldn't wait to get rid of in his first 100 days.

Trade makes tons of sense. Keep in mind that lebron needs to rest once in a while

Melo can shoot deep like love. Can be more of a primary when lebron is resting

Melo and lebron can play 30 mpg for rest of season and be fresh for playoffs

I don't get the Love love though. Would prefer other assets

wargames @ 1/25/2017 7:55 PM
It was always a stretch but maybe Melo opens up to offers elsewhere. The Celtics trade is a wet fantasy, but as a Knicks pragmatic I doubt it happens.

Agree, it makes sense for Cavs. And about Love. Think Uncle Phil wants someone to "Play the right way". Pass more than Melo. Love at 1.8 this year, not better. Score more than Melo, Love 20.5 so far, not better. Shoot better than Melo, Love 42%, 37% from 3pt., not better. Well at least he rebounds.

Phil just likes proving that he is the "Zen Master" and not just a coach that had Jordan, Pippen, Kobe, and Shaq. Lets hope he is the former.

I agree. Doesn't Love pretty much duplicate KP? How would two perimeter bigs work?

I've assumed they would flip love to Boston for picks since he is what they need (minus big man defense)

Not that Love isn't a good player but he kinda got exposed in Cleveland. He was able to hide in Minny and a lot of folks drooled about his stats. In Cleveland the spotlight is on him more and his warts are more evident. Unless the Knicks were planning to package him in a subsequent deal I'd rather keep Melo.

You think the Knicks will crumble because they traded Melo?? Seriously?? KP will be a life long Knick unless he's traded.

No it's just a terrible trade we can get way more value for melo... melo for dray and iggy works Phil needs to make that call

I would love to get Dray but no way does GSW trade him for Melo.

You really don't think golden state would pull the trigger on a melo for dray, iggy ... it all but seals the deal for another chip for golden state

Do you have any idea about the construction of a team, defense, offense, rebounding, play makers, scoring, etc?..What do you think GS is lacking that they need in Melo??

I'm sorry but a

Zaza
Melo
Durant
Klay
Curry

Would be absolutely unstoppable that's 4 super stars and both Durant and melo are above average rebounders ... plus I'm making the rumor if I'm Phil to strong arm Cleveland they would be terrified if melo went to golden state

The biggest problem would be you'd be taking away the guy that guards Lebron in the championship series. Dray is a well rounded player and plays great defense and can defend multiple positions but that lineup would still be great and i'd love to see Melo get a championship.

I'm late to the party but I just wanna say whatever espn says about the Knicks will always be pure bullshit. Phil did not make that offer... Melo has a no trade clause. This is espn throwing more oil on the "Melo is overrated and the Knicks can't get equal value" bonfire. And of course the first posy about it, a fan uses it to call Phil a jackass when it comes to trades. Welp knick fans are jackasses when it comes to feeding into this media machine.

STein was on with Michael Kay. He said that Boston already has a defensive liability in Thomas so he didn't think they would want Melo. Also, I don't think they get the BK pick but they still would be the preferred trade partner for the Knicks.
