Starting line up.
Willy
Melo

Lee
Baker
Second Unit
Plumlee/Or trade pick up
Kp
Kuz
Sasha/Or trade pick up
Jennings
Waive Rose and Noah if you cant trade them for any kind of draft picks. Rose may have better demand for team looking for penetrator.
Give young guys a real chance to play. Give Melo a chance to play his only position at 4. Give KP a chance to be main focus with second unit.
If it doesnt work, After year is over, Trade Melo for more draft picks. Trade KO for draft picks. Trade LT for draft picks. Either way we win. If we suck, higher picks, young guys get a chance, KP develops as main offense threat.
If this doesnt work I will pay everyone on here a crisp $1 bill. And by everyone I mean those that agree with me. Lmao.
Start the know it all crap fest.

I actually love this plan.
Only difference is that I would start Jennings and use Baker off the bench.
But otherwise, I am in complete agreement.

That actually makes sense. Thought Jennings would be better for some offense in second unit and better PnR for KP.
What does this solve? Where does this get the Knicks? I'm sorry but you guys have to accept that the future is now and Melo needs to go to a playoff team and finish out his career making a run at a Finals appearance. We are at a different stage here now.

The starting line up doesn't work. KP and Melo need to play the 4. KP can't play the 5. Rose needs to move on. Maybe that move and a change gets this thing back on track.

Why do we want things to get back on track? At this point it just doesn't matter anymore. This team needs to just move on from Melo and Rose and try to get into the top of this draft. That's the only way forward IMO. Start trading for younger players and draft picks. Or just trade Rose and keep Melo but still look to get higher in the draft. Either way we need a top PG talent for this team.

I don't think the team is moving on from Melo. Maybe in the offseason but if Melo is reacting to Phil's sucky way of handling things then I think he might just stay. The players want to win. It would not be hard for the team to move on from Rose.
Does anybody else think it's odd that we haven't heard not one single rumor of Rose being linked to any team in a trade or not any talk what so ever about him or anyone other than Melo?? I do and it worries me that maybe Phil's ego might be to big for him to admit that players he's bringing in aren't the players needed or just the wrong players to continue on with. When a team is this bad and everyone knows that a rebuild is the best direction to go, we should be hearing the names of D.Rose, J.Noah, C.Lee, L.Thomas and whoever else besides KP and Billy in the rumor mill in some way but there hasn't been a peep of any of them.

There's already a rumor out there that he's telling his teammates that he won't let Phil run him out of New York and there's even a story from i think Woj about how all this pushing from Phil is just making him want to stay even more.

What is your rush? Not that this is going to happen. Obviously. But whats the rush to trade Melo now, with all this around him pushing value down as oppose to waiting to end of year. How is what I am suggesting not going with a young movement. Think iF Phil went to Melo earlier and said its not working out and we are going to rebuild, then waiving both Noah and Rose, Melo would have gotten the point. With that Melo would have said either, Im out now or I'll wait to end of year before we go. Not the bullshit thats going on now.
What will you do once he is traded? If its a true rebuild, how will you feel if Rose and Noah are still around? Are they our future. Point I am trying to make is, Rose and Noah are a bigger problems for our futurebut everyone is pointing the finger at Melo. Specially if Phil decides to sign Rose long term.

Good point. But that would mean Phil would have to admit he made a mistake. Dont know if you remember but when he traded Grant, he only mentioned how much better we were getting. No mention of his draft pick not working out. Not to mention Thanasis and Early picks. Hid them in D league cover.
Knicks fans are going to be crushed when they realize Hernangomez and Kuz are nothing but bench role player and Baker will be out of the league in two years.
Baker sucks.. He is NOT a starting player in this league. He is lucky to be a 12th player on a team. Do you actually watch when he plays and not talking about 4th quarter down by 30. Games where he has no points and 5 fouls.

I think it's reasonable to come to the conclusion that no matter how you juggle this roster it's a bust.
I believe we should change to a model of 2 in with more powerful built athletes who can help two ways sprinkle in a couple of 3 point specialist. I'm inclined to keep Melo unless someone gives me a fair deal. I'll accept running the course there. I think we can find a smarter more team orientated role for melo. This is not dire but we serious issues on the court in terms of balance on both ends( which has broken the team) and a toxic environment off the court. These need remedies. Right now I'm willing to sit Melo rest of year to keep that shoulder ok and see if I can get a pick for Jennings.(he's a free agent anyway) let's accept this season is more than over and try to get a real run at pick#1

Willy G will be a quality 20-25 min back ip 4-5. I'm inclined to agree on the 24 year old Baker. Nate wolters was way better and is not playing nba basketball now. Kuz is ok. Something has gotten to him and he's no rookie anyway

Thanks for the input. Baker was not the main point btw. But okay put in any warm body at PG. Better than the blinded Rose.
KP should never come off the bench. He is the one thing that this franchise has that is positive. Moving him to the bench further adds to the circle. This solves absolutely nothing.

What are you talking about, dude?
I'm a Melo fan.
I'm a Knicks fan who is accustomed to 35 win teams with a star player who looks real good in the highlights. I've loved the Melo era which has been amazing. So much success!!! After all Melo is now one of the top scorers in league history!!!
I wanna see Melo score more!
Yay!
Lottery here we come. But not the type of place in the lottery you want to be, where you can grab a franchis altering talent.
Who cares about Kristaps development?
Who cares if KP needs to match up against elite starters so he can learn what he needs to do defensively?
Who cares that the Knicks need to establish habits of how they want to play that is similar or cohesive to a longterm plan to win?
(All Saracism by the way if it wasn't obvious)
What's funny is fans like Spike Lee believe things just like these. They get mesmerzied by the scoring ablity of Melo. They don't see that in league history never has a player who played like Melo (high scoring, high ussage rate, perimeter player, low assist rate, iso heavy) ever led his team to a title. I mean look back 20, 30 years. Guys who play Melo's style of game have never won in this league as the top guy. If we build a starting 5 that makes Melo the dominant #1 option it is the worst idea ever. I've read many bad ideas, but that is by far the worst. Take away Rose and KP, and allow Melo to run the show. Just brilliant.

Maybe your just mesmerized by the idea that KP is our savior. Ignoring the obvious defects in his game. The biggest being, what you claim you care about, the inability to guard any position and playing sound team defense. Btw..he can work on everything you mentioned, more so, on second unit. As said before, no rookie has the right to overthrow a vet on a team. Specially one that is out playing him on both ends. Think it's an ego thing for you. God forbid your boy comes off the bench. It's not like he won't be in for same amount of minutes. Specially if he can gain some weight and play some 5. Jordan threw him to the side with one arm in crucial spot last night. Sean Bradley like. But you want him to be the cornerstone right now?
KP isn't our saviour.
Neither is Melo.
Melo is on decline.
KP on the way up.
Team has to rebuild and giving Melo more control of the team is the last way to achieve that.
KP can play great team defense if the team around him is quick and athletic and they all get on the same page. KP is one of the best rim protectors in the league. He struggles at times defensively but far from a defensive problem that you have to quit on.
There's not a single coach in the league that would bench KP on this current Knicks squad. Some may move him to 5, others may make some other adjustments to their defensive schemes.
But benching a player that is 21 giving a team 19/7/2 and on his pace to set the all time record for 3 pointers and blocks in a single season is ridiculous.
Melo certainly isn't worth that - unless one is a Melo fan first.
I've never said KP will carry the team to greatness. But I know it's a fact Melo never will be part of a contending Knick team. At least KP can be if he develops the right way. How good was Dirk defensively in his second season? Would benching Dirk have done Dallas good in the long run? Come on get outta here with this BS
You lost respect from any level headed discussion on KP when you said the Knicks would be better off having drafted Mudiay. The same Mudiay Denver is shopping less than 2 years into his career and was one of the worst shooters in the league last year.
What the Melo crowd hates about KP is his presence makes Phil Jacksons decision to trade Melo easier. Well that's too bad. If Melo were a great player he would have made the playoffs by now. He isn't good enough to carry the team yet wants the plays, salary, and role that is assigned to a player that should carry the team. Well most of us have seen enough. Time to move on. Willy, KP are two great first steps. Got to go get a 3, 2 and 1 that can play with them longterm. Have some vets already that are goood for bench roles in BJ, Lee, Holiday, OQuinn, Noah, Thomas.
