Knicks · Trade deadline comeths: What do you want the knicks to do? What do you think they'll do? (page 2)

Rose definitely has to go...he's a big chip. If a team wants a bench scorer or extra firepower for the playoffs or want to dump a contract.... Rose is a big big chip. If teams wanna be stupid then we can just keep him and let him walk after the season.
SupremeCommander @ 2/13/2017 9:34 AM
I think Brandon Jennings is our biggest trade chip... he's a back up and good teams usually need more depth. I just don't see how we make deals for Rose and Melo where we don't take back a bunch of crap

We don't own his bird rights (or even early bird rights), which hugely detracts from his trade value

If a team wants to dump a contract, that is not a talent we would want. There is a price, such as a young player or draft pick. Question is whether that asset is worth it?

Looks like K-love might be out for a while- pain and swelling in the knee, further tests- they should have traded for melo while they could! Looks like no way we deal with cavs now- Celtics wouldn't want a breaking down Love- SAS was right about him

Why not take Love anyway - I don't see any problem with that. Melo injured his knee and missed 1/2 the season at 31 --- nobody was saying it's over.

Love is 28.

You sway Melo for Love --- and you let Love sit out for as long as he needs (even rest of season -- TANK). Let him get 100%.

We can keep him for a bit or trade him during the summer.

I make a Melo for injured Love deal in a second.

You could, but if it turns out to be chronic, we're stuck with a max contract for years, and one that plays the same position as KP.

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cavs All-Star forward Kevin Love will get a second opinion on his ailing left knee Tuesday, and there is concern team wide that he could be in line for an extended absence.

"I would love to be able to tell you that he'll miss three games and be back, but I can't right now because we don't know," general manager David Griffin said.

The Cavs have already ruled Love out for Tuesday's game in Minnesota. They play again Wednesday at home against Indiana, and then Love is supposed to play in the All-Star Game Sunday in New Orleans.

Love already underwent an MRI on Sunday, after complaining of pain during and after Cleveland's 125-109 win over the Denver Nuggets Saturday night. The Cavs did not announce the results of the MRI, nor would they share with whom Love would consult Tuesday.

Obviously, the need for more tests and more sets of eyes suggests whatever the Cavs' doctor saw Sunday in Love's knee wasn't optimal.

It sounds like a meniscus tear, but like I said SAS said he was breaking down and his back and knees were a problem, that was weeks before he went down with a back problem, now this

The ideal scenario would be a deal with the Cavs where everyone wins.

Cavs trade: Love and Channing Frye
Knicks trade: Melo, Justin Holiday, KOQ

It does take away a little outside shooting, but they get back two solid defenders, Holiday can still hit the three and bonafide closer vs. the Warriors.

Melo, would be knocking down open three's all day long with LeBron out there.

If the Knicks were able to then flip love to the Celtics for the Nets pick, the knicks could rebuild with two lottery picks this summer to pair around Willy and KP. But, that would be too good to be true.

I think celtics are a red herring- why restrict yourself to them if you want to move Love? Ainge is notoriously stingy with parting with assets. Lakers, suns, magic, sixers could all end up with the number one pick, would probably want Love and have some young assets too

I would maybe move Love to the suns for Tucker, Chriss and their top pick

Trade Melo for Love now! Let Love heal and then move him for major assets before the draft. Even if we keep him we win big time.

Did they trade David Robinson for picks at the end of his career? Did they trade Tim Duncan?

It took us years to recover from the Ewing trade, and I'm still not sure we recovered karmically.

Melo is not on the level of any of those guys, but he's absolutely a top 10 Knick all-time. If the dude wants to stay, let him stay.

Otherwise, I would keep Jennings and look to re-sign him. I would keep CLee.

I would cut ties with DRose as soon as possible.

Of course not, why would they? Since 1989-90 (David Robinson's rookie year), do you know how many times the Spurs have finished with fewer than 50 wins? 4 times if you count the 1999 season when the season was only 50 games. How many times have they finished under .500? Once. It's a ridiculous analogy.

With Love injured Melo might put Celtics over the top. Might be a really good play for Celtics.

Why do we want Love with KP, KOQ and Willy here? Makes zero sense.

The Knicks need to upgrade the back court and get younger if possible

My hope would be to flip Love to another team (Boston has loved him forever) for a package of young talent/picks.

We all want that Cavs, Boston, Knicks 3 way trade

I think the Pelicans would also be very interested in Love and I think are also foolish enough to give up their pick THIS year with him as the centerpiece of the deal. I think that'd be far more realistic than the Celtics scenario because the Pelicans pick will likely be later than the Nets pick....also, I doubt the Cavs would want to have Love go to an Eastern Conference rival.

That's a steep ask for a guy that might be starting his decline (Kevin Love). And how much closer does that move the Suns to playoff contender status? If not much at all, why do the deal?

yep, with melo you're restricted to moving him to Clips or Cavs, if you have Love, he has no NTC, is a few years younger- you can send him wherever the deal is sweetest
