Knicks · Is there anyone left who wants to see the KNicks make the playoffs? (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 2/17/2017 10:05 AM
They are down to a 1% chance.
Obviously the odds are very high against them--but even if they could bust the long odds---whats the point?
Nalod @ 2/17/2017 10:09 AM
I want to see them make the playoffs!!!!!!
A season ending willing streak and matchup as a 7th or 8th seed would be good for the yoots.
A hot team going into playoffs is dangerous wounded animal. Didn't we at least have fun when knicks won 54 games a few years back.
In this case, we have all our picks going forward (first round), two kids going to rising stars game, and either rose or cap space.
Obviously a ticket to the playoffs demonstrates the team would have found a way to work together and cure many of the problems.

So yeah, I want to make the playoffs. I don't want to back into it playing the way we are, but that won't happen.

nixluva @ 2/17/2017 10:14 AM
I'm always wanting to see the team play winning ball but in this case they're so close to a higher Lottery spot that I have to hope Phil ends this experiment and moves toward the future. I have little faith in this team being able to sustain the effort necessary to make it worth shooting for the playoffs.
stanleybostitch @ 2/17/2017 10:18 AM
Yes - I want to see them in the playoffs...in 2018.
Vmart @ 2/17/2017 10:34 AM
Playoffs are not worth it for this team it's really meant for teams on the rise with very young players in majority of the positions with franchise type talent. We have one franchise player as of now we need another one or two going forward. That will give playoffs a true meaning.
Cartman718 @ 2/17/2017 10:41 AM
to answer briggs question...yes.
is that person me? no.
StarksEwing1 @ 2/17/2017 10:46 AM
As Knick fans we always want the playoffs. HOWEVER at this point with our record in a loaded draft class it makes better sense getting a potential high impact talent Instead of getting destroyed in the first round. It looks like we will be busy at the deadline trying to get more picks as well
fishmike @ 2/17/2017 11:08 AM
the only scenario I would want to see is IF we move Melo/Rose and throw the kids out there, and they start playing well enough to make the playoffs. Essentially at this point I am a huge advocate of tanking. So how do you do that? Trade Melo/Rose and run the kids out there to take their lumps. On the remote chance they go on a run than fine.. its with your youth.

Whats most likely is we have 7 games out with 4 teams to pass with 15 to play, Melo gets hot as the team "plays with urgency" wins some meaningless games and we end up drafting 11

yeah its probably what will happen. Reminds me of 2 years ago when we won those 2 games at the end and lost the lottery. Obviously im happy with KP but Towns would have been a massive prize
SupremeCommander @ 2/17/2017 11:27 AM
I think the only two people left that want to see this current version of the New York Knicks make the playoffs are James Dolan and his mistress Isiah Thomas
NYKBocker @ 2/17/2017 11:39 AM
I actually want to see them make the playoffs. Sorry.

Trade melo and Rose, and hopefully get back Rubio. Then focus on developing the young players. That doesn't mean throwing them out there- I'd like to scale back KPs minutes to 20 something, I think we've rushed him a bit due to him being further ahead than we initially thought he would be when we drafted him. He does seem to have stamina issues, so focus on correcting that.

Start Willy, keep baker off the bench as our aim is to develop him into a bench player. Same with Plumlee.

Also try and get Kuz back on track- he's become the forgotten man (I think he hit the rookie wall).

Finally focus on actually letting Hornacek actually implement his system, Rose and Melo have been blocking him all season.

crzymdups @ 2/17/2017 1:10 PM
I'm all about that pick bout that pick bout that pick no playoffs.
crzymdups @ 2/17/2017 1:13 PM
Knicks are 4 games out of the 8th seed in the playoffs.

They're 2 games out of having the 4th pick in the draft.

I do hope Phil makes a trade at the deadline that signals to Melo that we are rebuilding. I don't think he'll be able to trade Melo, but I hope he can trade Rose or something to signal the lack of playoffs is the plan at this point.

crzymdups @ 2/17/2017 1:17 PM
Knicks (23-34) have two games at Orlando (21-37, currently in 4th in the draft) in the first week of March. Tank will be LIT AF those two games. If we lose those two, that could make this whole crap season worth it. Melo should sit those games out.

Phil rebuilds every yr, the only difference is that this yr we have a pick, but as long as phils here we will rebuild every off season until he's gone..Melo was well aware of this

You know there's a difference in retooling and rebuilding!!! This time we want a REBUILD. The benefits of tanking vs trying to make a playoff push are immense and for some reason you seem incapable of accepting the positives of shipping out older vets that have not led to wins this year. Why continue this course at this point?

These vets had a fair chance to buy in and show they deserve to stay and they failed. Time to move on and try a different approach.

exactly. Im tired of quick fixes that fail. For 16 years we did that and ended up in worse shape. Its time to build through the draft
Kemet @ 2/17/2017 1:57 PM
Trade Melo for a couple future first round picks in a three/four team trade, plus add Noah/Quinn/Willie/KP to the game rotation with Jenning/Holiday/Rose/Lee/and Kuz for a decent 9 man rotation .. And the Knicks will make the playoff as a transition team.

I can live with failures.. its part of the game. Reason I still have hope with Phil is his mistakes dont hurt us long term. He didnt give up 2 picks that turned into NBA stars for Rose or Noah. I think Phil did a good job *trying* to get guys in here, and doing so without giving up future assets (picks). So yea.. that hasnt worked out but the hedge was always this deep draft so hopefully we execute on that. Phil doesnt get a free pass. He needs to have a solid offseason

Phil said he will never build through the draft, but he contradicts himself every other month so who knows.. Tomorrow him and melo might have dinner and talk about what FA they can get this yr.

None of us have the slightest idea what phil is thinking, neither does phil
