Cousins has a ton of talent but he's got some issues that I don't see with Willy and KP. I expect Willy is going to be able to expand his range and KP will improve his post game, which will make them extremely flexible on offense. I see them improving on D as well. I really don't think the negatives of the Traditional Big applies to KP and Willy as much.

So you see Willy, KP and O'Quinn chasing swingmen around on the perimeter for some portion of 48 minutes a game?

You just worried about the stretch 4.... shooting guards playing power fwd like playing nba live online back in the day. Just shoot all the big men in the head and run nothing but swing men all lined up taking 3s

Yeah, which is what most playoff teams are increasingly doing.

KP and Willy are not plodding bigs tho! KP can already play away from the basket and Willy is more agile and quick than he looks. They won't be a problem as long as the rest of the roster is upgraded with athletic and quick players!

We already have some roster flexibility and should add more this summer I hope! Getting rid of Rose n Melo would allow better defenders to be brought in and added to the rotation.

The game is played on two ends of the floor and defensively, neither project to be good perimeter defenders.

So you build around them with that in mind. Load up with strong perimeter defenders and balance out their weaknesses. KP is an elite rim protector and Willy has the base to be a good post defender. Perimeter defense may always be an issue for both, but they may end up being so good together offensively, that teams may be forced to play bigger when playing against them, which would lessen the concern on the defensive end.

Sacremento Kings got ROBBED, their Ownners and GM are suckers .. u think they would b interested in buying the Brooklyn Bridge it just got renovated

The last four months i kept thinking if Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd had Anthony Davis & True Holiday to go with Giannis & Parker the Lebron Cavs would miss the FINALS the next 2 to 3 seasons.

The New Orleans Pelicans got Sampson & Olyjuwon in Cousins & Davis to put a end to the college level small-ball performance in the NBA.

The trade of Cousins to the New Orlean Pelicans has picked up the level of the NBA.
I wish the Pelicans didnt have small-ball SSOL head coach Gentry who has been CLUELESS on coaching Big-men in a lineup since having Shaq & Amare on the same roster. The Pelicans previous head-coach b4 Gentry would be the perfect coach for a Twin-Tower Cousin/Davis ....

As a Red Holzman/Hubie Brown Knick Fan .. KP & Willy are Kindergarden students compared to the Pelicans Dr.Cousins & Dr.Davis ..
Kyle O'Quinn low-post IQ and big body inside the paint would have given the Knicks 15 more wins being a Starter alongside Noah in the frontcourt to cover Melo's weak defensive effort this season.

There were no good options at this point. You can't give a guy like Cousins over $40 mil a season - that's almost half your entire salary cap.
They gave up Cousins for Hield, 2 draft picks, and $207 mil in cap space. I doubt there was a better option.

One thing to consider if I am a Kings fan...They drafted WCS who seemed to be a favorite of Cousins (from what I recall reading at the time) earlier than most people expected.

Don't know that team too well...but which other players in that draft who they might have liked more did they choose not to draft?

Vmart @ 2/21/2017 1:39 PM
When it is all said and done do you want to invest $200 million in a player. Sac said hell no because they simply don't have the market for it. With that said Cousins has not been the leader they need. $200 million for a non leader is excessive.

From what I have read, some think SAC did good on its trade, some not so good.
Cousins is the games most talented big man, but a freaking head case. His talent has given him numerous passes. He eats coaches, and frustrated his owners.
That he is due to earn a $200 mil extension is a scary proposition.
Perhaps paired with the Unibrow he might find the change of scene good and accountable to his behavior going forward.
Naturally we read the implications this has on melo as we would not get nearly the haul in return. No shyt.
As for melo, the reluctant allstar, Im not quite sure what to make of all this now. I admire his devotion to the team. Phil also has a job to do here.
Knicks have to improve.

I think the same thing about the trade. A lot has to go right for Sac. but if Heid turns into a solid 20+ scorer (very possible) and Sac can use their hopefully two first round picks to find two competent starters (with at least one turning into all star or at least borderline all star) then the trade actually would not be that bad. It just looks bad now because we don't know who Sac is going to get in the draft.
