can someone please put a hit out on wojo? this dude is killing trades for many teams...nothing is an effin secret anymore.

There, fixed it for you.
The first month of the season the team practiced defense against the triangle...No one else plays the triangle in this league...Maybe we were getting prepared just in case another team breaks out the triangle...Our Minister of Defense is Rambis right??

Every move should be made with an eye on a future built around KP and Willy, and that starts with Rose leaving in my opinion. He hasn't sparked Minny his entire career, why would you worry about that??
Its about talent and fit... Rose is averaging 17/4 for us and we suck. Thibs wants to play an attacking style like he did in Chicago. Passing and play making from the PG is not the style he wants. The Knicks want to play a team game and we all want Kristaps and Willy to get the ball more. Rubio is currently 5th on the league in assists. Since the new year Rubio has been averaging 10 assist a game... breaking off 15,-17 assist games a few times.
We need a pg that is a willing passer... well over 30 players in the NBA average more assist a game than Rose.... Dude his back up point guard Jennings averages more assists and he's playing just about half the minutes..... that's all our problems right there.
We don't suck because of Rose, or Melo for that matter...We suck because the coach doesn't coach defense..Will Rubio make the Coach coach defense???
Your assist numbers will be lower when Melo have to carry the offense...The guy who takes the most shots creates for himself..Does Jennings play with Melo, what are his assist numbers when he plays with Melo??..What was his assist numbers when Rose was out??..These things aren't hard to figure out...
What does it really matter...We are building in circles..We have no direction...We certainly aren't winning anything...Kevin McHale was on ESPN this morning and he talked about what drives this league and its not the role players, its the ability of your best guys to make others around them better. We dont have that with this two. Melo is very popular and liked, but he's no longer a great player and this dynamic is hurting us.
You will come back and say some crap about a stronger coach. Look at what MDA is doing with the Rockets. You need players to buy in. The only thing Melo buys into is surround me with great players while I shoot all night long. Sorry dude.
No one plays defense on this team..No one...You choose to see only two guys not playing defense...And please save me the speech about ball stoppers...Jordan and Kobe were ball stoppers shooting 25 and 28 shots per in the playoffs..What did Phil say then???..Ewing was a ball stopper...I don't need McHale to draw X's and O's for me to understand what happening..You and other are just gullible and waiting for confirmation on what you want to believe..
MDA team is giving up 108 points per game and you think it's buying in..Anyone can buy into not playing defense and shooting threes all day..What happens in the playoffs??It is no point to prove some logical points to fitful believers.
It is stupid waste of time.
If somebody is worshiping Melo and me-first bbal let them be.
Melo Is Great!!!
I saw you rallying the people who won't watch the team if Melo and Rose are still here after the trade deadline...Hilarious...You might want to tell the folks, who sold out Garden this year after the Rose trade, that you won't be watching...

I don't know if that's true. He reported the Cousins trade before it was official. The DRose to NY trade was reported a week before it was official.

Yeah, I think Phil needs to make a point about the rebuild today. Then I think there can be a Melo to Clippers trade this summer.

Phil doesn't need Melo's consent to rebuild. If Melo wants to be here with a TEAM FULL of kids then so be it. This team is gonna be adding more kids regardless of Melo's presence. The writing is on the wall.

So far he's reported on like 20 different things and only 2 happened this deadline...obviously where there's smoke there's fire, but it seems like his reporting is essentially having a "domino effect" of killing trades.
GMs Owners like the idea of being able to do their work in peace without being hounded by reporters every 5 mins there's a rumor. If it really does not need to be discrete, why doesn't the NBA mandate that? lets do it all in the open...why the need for wojo? tell it to the fans directly.

Kobe and MJ both had 6 seasons (each) where they averaged 5.5 assits or more. Melo has never broken 5 assists for a single season. End of that argument.
Ewing's defense anchored teams that ADVANCED in the playoffs for 10 straight years. Do I really need to add to this?
But hey look... its a Rubio thread and holfresh is hating on Phil. Yawn.

Exactly....
I'm sitting here trying to figure out what Holfresh is taking about. You can't improve this defense simply by changing the coach. I don't understand the ball stopper comments either.
Simply... we need to get real passer out there. Rubio is going to get the ball to the scorers. We could then focus on defense.... the coach can't coach pride and effort. Jennings was very vocal about that after getting whipped by the Lakers. That's the problem... it's with personnel. I believe the team especially with Melo here will play better defensively if they are having fun on offense. When Rubio gets 3 straight 10 assist games, we'll start to see that change.

Under Phil? How do you expect to get a top lottery pick if you don't lose? You want to be the best defensive team and still get Kristaps?
This season is the make or break year. The talent is here. It's not Phil's fault they aren't winning. It's not Hornacek fault guys don't play hard and with pride. Dropping statistics don't trek the whole story.

to be fair I think there's a grain of truth in Holfresh's statement (who I consider to be a troll at this point, more interested in antagonizing and criticizing than discussing reality, reasonable alternatives, or anything resembling balance).
Not sure if it's Jeff (who I like), Rambis (who frankly I don't get at all), or the organization, but the team needs to emphasize defense. Whether it's coaching or accountability I don't have a firm grasp of, but we should be putting people on the bench to watch and learn if they don't yet know that consistent effort on defense (at a minimum) is expected, and actual effectiveness on defense will earn playing time as much as shooting ability

Crzy, are you really implying Melo is a good defender? I think that would be news to everyone, including melo himself
there were some defensive studs on some of those teams
