I like Rubio and I find myself more optimistic of him than some but that's quite a bit of money to give up for a franchise that should be looking to tank. To be perfectly honest, even if Noah were included and we had to take back a Cole Aldrich, I'd immediately look to then parlay Rubio to Sacramento for Darren Collision and filler.
Don't think adding Collison is better than having Rubio for this team's needs. Collison is 29 and not the same level of ball distributor as Rubio. Collison is a better scorer but the passing is weaker.

I think I would make the trade as long as it's 1-for-1. I think Rubio's contract is going to look good moving forward a la Lopez. I like his defense. I like that he's pass-first. I don't know if Rubio is a triangle fit per say but I think he's a perfect fit for Horny. His d also would be welcomed here. I think he would be a fit. So with that said I guess I'm leaning towards adding his salary - but I'm not super pumped about it either
Rubio, who has obvious flaws, would be a decent transition player who might be helpful to the PG I assume we will be drafting this year.Rubio is a younger Calderon, with not as good a shot and slightly quicker feet on Defense. Would rather trade Rose for picks or Jackson.
they are the same in the fact that neither can come close to Rose's penetration, and they are far from aggressive when it comes to offense.
Last season everybody on this board wanted nothing more then a guy that can get to the basket and finish like rose, now you got one of the best in the league and ya'll can't wait to get rid of him.
We did expect some sort of defensive effort and passing to go with it. Please tell me what rose brings apart from getting to the basket? Players need to be good at at least 2 things otherwise they cost more than they bring

Figures.
Woj has been trying to mess things up for us the past few days, I wish he'd fuck off until after the deadline

There are guys in the Media that literally put out things intended to scuttle anything the Knicks try to do. This is not a level playing field.Once again - Woj has built his career on being right about these things. Why would he purposely be wrong to make the Knicks look bad? It does him more damage than them. No reason whatsoever to believe he's lying here.
He's already contradicted himself- the day before he was saying Phil didn't care about getting anything for rose, now he's saying other teams don't want to give anything for him and Phil's not accepting that. Who's interest are these leaks in? The team trying to get rose- they are trying to reduce his value, therefore the source is one of the teams trying to get him.

You also forgot to mention that Collision is the better shooter, without major liabilities that could keep him off the floor. In today's NBA, that means more. Yes, he's older but I'm not looking at him as our PG of the future; I'm looking at him as a mentor and stopgap for our PG in the draft.

I'm not sure Collison's value as a stop gap and Mentor for a younger PG is as high as your making it.
I like Collison but just cuz he shoots better doesn't mean he'd be better for our team or a better mentor. IMO Rubio is a better stop gap if we can't land a PG in the draft.
Knixkik wrote:If we get Rubio, cool, he should be a nice fit with KP and Willy. My only concern is he makes us better and we lose momentum towards a high pick. Sometimes a trade like this really sparks a run. But either way, Rose needs to go. If a deal around Rose/Rubio doesn't happen, i would be fine giving Rose away. There has to be a 2nd round pick and expiring out there for him. Just get him off the team so we can move on. Every move should be made with an eye on a future built around KP and Willy, and that starts with Rose leaving in my opinion.
He hasn't sparked Minny his entire career, why would you worry about that??

Its about talent and fit... Rose is averaging 17/4 for us and we suck. Thibs wants to play an attacking style like he did in Chicago. Passing and play making from the PG is not the style he wants. The Knicks want to play a team game and we all want Kristaps and Willy to get the ball more. Rubio is currently 5th on the league in assists. Since the new year Rubio has been averaging 10 assist a game... breaking off 15,-17 assist games a few times.
We need a pg that is a willing passer... well over 30 players in the NBA average more assist a game than Rose.... Dude his back up point guard Jennings averages more assists and he's playing just about half the minutes..... that's all our problems right there.

We don't suck because of Rose, or Melo for that matter...We suck because the coach doesn't coach defense..Will Rubio make the Coach coach defense???
Your assist numbers will be lower when Melo have to carry the offense...The guy who takes the most shots creates for himself..Does Jennings play with Melo, what are his assist numbers when he plays with Melo??..What was his assist numbers when Rose was out??..These things aren't hard to figure out...
What does it really matter...We are "building" in circles..We have no direction...We certainly aren't winning anything...
Not sure it makes us much better, but I think it is worth it.

Who now has more talent on their roster than us going forward...Are we the only ones slightly interested in Rubio??
holfresh wrote:we suck because we have two players that have strong personalities that the coach cant criticize or he will lose the team. Kevin McHale was on ESPN this morning and he talked about what drives this league and its not the role players, its the ability of your best guys to make others around them better. We dont have that with this two. Melo is very popular and liked, but he's no longer a great player and this dynamic is hurting us.
You will come back and say some crap about a stronger coach. Look at what MDA is doing with the Rockets. You need players to buy in. The only thing Melo buys into is surround me with great players while I shoot all night long. Sorry dude.

MDA team is giving up 108 points per game and you think it's buying in..Anyone can buy into not playing defense and shooting threes all day..What happens in the playoffs??

It is no point to prove some logical points to fitful believers.
It is stupid waste of time.
If somebody is worshiping Melo and me-first bbal let them be.
Melo Is Great!!!
