Salaries still have to match... Rose and KOQ together make double what Rubio makes. I mentioned Pekovic and Lavine and everyone lost their minds....the salary had to come from somewhere to make the trade work. If not from the T'Wolves then a 3rd team would have to jump in. That would make everything tricky

Minnesota is about $13 million below the cap. They could easily absorb the difference of Rose's salary and O'Quinn with that cap space and Rubio's contract. But like I said though, if I'm giving up O'Quinn, they definitely need to take Noah.

Rose, Noah and O'Quinn for Rubio, Pekovic and Jordan Hill works financially and saves us $11 million in the process. I'm not sure that giving up O'Quinn in what amounts to a salary dump is a good idea though.

T'Wolves have cap room so it doesn't have to be a direct match.

I know that Rubio for Rose straight up works, even though their salaries don't match.

Aren't the T'Wolves under the cap and able to absorb the contracts???

Side note - I like that according to Hollinger's prediction, trading Rubio for Rose makes both teams worse in terms of wins.

Ha! That's classic. It's a win in my book just in terms of Team Chemistry!!! It's not about W/L at this point. We seriously have to restructure this roster.

This link has video of Brian Windhorst on ESPN talking about the Pistons being involved - it might be a three-way trade with Rubio going to Pistons, Rose to Minnie, and Reggie Jackson to NY... or some other combo.

That just stuck out to me, because I remember Phil tried to get Reggie Jackson when he did the Shump/JR trade.

Wow. Jackson is an awesome talent but doesn't get along well with his teammates. The Knicks have stayed away from talented but troubled guys. This would be an interesting move.

That'd be a terrible move. Reggie Jackson seems to be a lockerroom cancer that has burned bridges in OKC and has done the same in DET. Why add that to a rebuilding team, especially when it is obvious that he simply isn't that good?

It wouldn't be my first choice... but it stuck out to me because I remember Phil was interested in him.

Ditto. The better move would be to hang in the cut, wait till free agency and then sign Darren Collison on a short-term/above market contract he can't turn down. Phil Jackson reportedly had interest in him in a trade before Shumpert hurt himself.....let's go down this route instead of acquiring a well established cancer that can't shoot.

BRIGGS @ 2/20/2017 11:49 PM
Yeah Rubio and their unprotected lottery pick and nothing less. If we make a 1-1 trade and take on thT cap without a lottery pick. Phil should quit.

Yeah, that's a smart move. I would sign Collison. I would give him two years $20M or something. That's a better deal for us than Austin Rivers or Rubio and he's a better player.

Reading up on RJax. He has a 7'0 wing span. Fits Phil's type.

We would basically be getting more for Rose than Sacramento got for Cousins. I don't see it.

I'd take Shabazz Muhhamad and maybe a second round pick and Rubio.

i wouldn't overplay our hand.. i agree i'd like bazz or a pick back also, but rose is only a 3 month rental, so i'm not sure how much we can hold out for.

Rubio's contract goes for two years longer than Rose's - we're helping the T'Wolves out here immensely.

Fact that it is Thibbs coaching the other team has to make you think that Minny wants to resign him.

Other thing is that if the reports are true they are approaching us.

If we can't get this year's #1 from them, I'd push for their #2 and some kind of protected #1 (top 5?) next year.

Sick of getting taken advantage by other teams over the years when it comes to draft picks.

That's a bit unreasonable don't you think? Rubio is the better player and is not that significant a cap hit. Why would they then have to sweeten the deal if it is a Rose for Rubio swap?

Windhorst said they just want to get out of Rubio's contract because Thibs loves Dunn. But Thibs loves DRose as well.

I think it's unrealistic for a lottery team to give up their pick just for cap savings. I think the more realistic and reasonable trade would be to add Noah to the deal with Rose; them taking Noah being our compensation. They've been on record stating they needed a veteran backup big man and Noah is that while being better than anything they currently have on the bench. Boom.
