If we throw in KOQ, I want a pick and/or Shabazz Muhammad

i wouldn't overplay our hand.. i agree i'd like bazz or a pick back also, but rose is only a 3 month rental, so i'm not sure how much we can hold out for.

Rubio's contract goes for two years longer than Rose's - we're helping the T'Wolves out here immensely.

Fact that it is Thibbs coaching the other team has to make you think that Minny wants to resign him.

Other thing is that if the reports are true they are approaching us.

If we can't get this year's #1 from them, I'd push for their #2 and some kind of protected #1 (top 5?) next year.

Sick of getting taken advantage by other teams over the years when it comes to draft picks.

I think it's unrealistic for a lottery team to give up their pick just for cap savings. I think the more realistic and reasonable trade would be to add Noah to the deal with Rose; them taking Noah being our compensation. They've been on record stating they needed a veteran backup big man and Noah is that while being better than anything they currently have on the bench. Boom.

Yeah, I agree. Though the Wolves must sense some desperation on Phil's part to get something for Rose. If he gets Rubio for Rose, it's a decent return. If he lets Rose walk, he just gave away Jerian Grant and downgraded from Rolo to Noah for a one year rental that was a disaster. I guess that's some sunk cost thinking. But with all the news about the Knicks maybe being shut out in FA this offseason, I have to think Phil will want to do something with the Rose chip now. It also does really help Minnie though, because they can audition Rose for 30 games before deciding if they'd re-sign him.

Wolves 2018 pick goes to Boston and is protected, means they can't trade 2017 pick?

Windhorst said they just want to get out of Rubio's contract because Thibs loves Dunn. But Thibs loves DRose as well.

Interesting...even more reason to pick up a #1 from them if they are desperate to dump Rubio.

I'm in an exploitative mood at this point.

I don't know who this guy is, but he's saying that Phil is pushing for Noah to be included!!

yellowboy90 @ 2/21/2017 12:04 AM
I doubt this ends well for the knicks. I just do not believe in Phil's ability to make good trades.

Think you are right, though technically, can't you make the pick for another team on draft night and then trade it off?

If they really wanted to get rid of Rubio, they could easily stretch his salary. So I don't understand why people feel they desperately need to dump him as if he coulsn't easily be moved for an expirer.

I would do this deal so fast

CrushAlot @ 2/21/2017 12:07 AM

Wow. I think you have to include KOQ in that deal.
CrushAlot @ 2/21/2017 12:07 AM
^^^^This is different from reports that the Wolves contacted the Knicks.

It could be that the Wolves offered Rubio for Rose and KOQ and Phil countered with the larger package. It makes sense for the Wolves, since Thibs loves both those guys and Pek is dead weight. I could see the Wolves asking for KOQ to be added to that package, but no way do you say no to that deal.

Makes sense as to why Noah reportedly took all of his knick stuff off of his social media sites. Not sure if that is accurate but it was reported the same night as the Jennings stuff.

http://dystnow.com/2017/02/21/report-two...

After a crazy ending to a terrible All-Star weekend, with the New Orleans Pelicans acquiring DeMarcus Cousins in a blockbuster trade from the Sacramento Kings, the NBA trade deadline is starting to heat up.

According to multiple reports, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the New York Knicks are in trade discussions that would send Knicks’ point guard, Derrick Rose to Minnesota.

ESPN reports that other teams are interested in the former league M.V.P. but League sources have shot down the rumor.

They’ve also told DYST that Knicks’ Phil Jackson is strongly pursuing a trade that would not only send Rose to Minnesota, but Joakim Noah too.

The only problem with Noah is, his contract. His four-year, $72 million deal isn’t that appealing for teams, especially a young team like Minnesota. However, the deal would reunite Noah and Rose with their former coach, Tom Thibodeau. Noah could take the veteran leader role like Kevin Garnett did in Minnesota, but again his contract is scary.

Most likely scenario: Rose is dealt to Minnesota with some sort of combination of Ricky Rubio and other Wolves’ players in return. The Wolves want to move Rubio still and feel that Rose reuniting with Thibodeau may spark something. But more importantly, Rose has an expiring deal which allows them to get out of Rubio’s deal and free up playing time for Kris Dunn next season.

Whichever deal does go down, if one does, Cole Aldrich will most likely be in the deal as Jackson is big fan of the big man.

Likely deal, that’s being discussed, Ricky Rubio, Shabazz Muhammed and Cole Aldrich for Derrick Rose and Lance Thomas.

I have a feeling Phil let Brandon and Noah know the direction they were going and that they'd try to move them before the deadline. Just a feeling though. Phil seems honorable in that sense.

He also has said he tries to move guys to situations they want and good situations. He said that was why he traded Tyson to the Mavs but then trashed Tyson.

Getting noahs contract moved would be like getting a first

Seriously, what is the fascination with Shabazz Muhammed? Isn't he just a significantly worse version of Melo that would be a blackhole on offense?

He is an expiring contract. He also has talent.
