Mavs Acquire Nerlens Noel For 1st Rounder, Justin Anderson, Andrew Bogut
I get they have to pay Noel, but Phil has helped them by killing his value. I bet he becomes a very good player in a better role.
yeah i agree - that's a great trade for dallas. philly consistently makes you scratch your head at their moves. just anderson is OK but the 1st rounder might not even be a lotto pick, as dallas is only 3 games out of the 8th seed and after acquiring noel, they are going to push. noel scores close to the basket, rebounds well, is athletic and they chose him #6 3 years ago and already giving up on him? bad, bad move on the philly side.

I read that the pick is 1-18 protected.
But Phil is just a straight up jackass...

The pick is a top 18 protected pick. So it's not even going to get conveyed this year. It was a give-away by Philly, although i am not sure what the protections are on it for future years.

Oh.. that pick is protected. 1-18!
And it's a great move by Dallas. Noel is an ideal center next to a small-ball 4 like Barnes. It fits the modern NBA perfectly and they have 2 players who fit together well in the same age-timeline to build with.

lol even worse. dallas is rebuilding and they are going to be going hard after FA this offseason and next. that pick will amount to nothing but a lower-mid to late round 1st. terrible, terrible move by the 6ers.
Noel not impressive.
But Thats not me, his value if this trade is done was set as such.
I guess Philly keeps Oka4?

That's what makes it a great trade.
I think Dallas won the trade but I do not think that they got fleeced. Justin Andersen is a good player, Noel is up for an extension, and a future pick form Dallas could be pretty valuable as they suck. I don't think there's any guarantees they'll be good in the future

Both guys also play defense. Nice move for the Mavs. Philly didn't get much back.

Nah, it just means the clock was ticking for them to get something for Noel. This gives Okafor an opportunity to prop up his value some more.

I don't think they got enough back but don't sleep on Justin Anderson... also, people are going to feel differently about Noel when he's getting paid $15 to 20 million/yr
Why couldn't Jackson put together a deal like this. Oh well.

The day is young! (I do not have high expections

)

Like what?? A #1 pick for a guy you need to pay the max for?? Would have been a awful trade for us. Noel is still so unproven and to pay a max contract in a yr. No way.

@ZachLowe_NBASources: If Sixers do not receive Mavs top-18 protected pick this season, it converts to 2 2nd-round picks: Mavs 2nds in 2017 and 2018
He won't get the max and being restricted helps to keep suitors at bay.
So basically it's a 1st rounder if the Mavs make the playoffs. I like it. Mavs pays for results.
I like the deal for the mavs, but I think briggs was very high on Justin Anderson - would have liked him on the knicks
Mavs essentially turned a 23-year-old 21st overall pick and 2 2nd-rounders into a 22-year-old 6th overall pick.
