Please STOP! You think Phil doesn't see something that's obvious to all??? I mean this is Phil Jackson who made his career on sacrifice for the team and playing team ball. There's more to the story than Phil just dropping the ball as you're assuming. There's nothing that you're seeing that Phil is somehow oblivious to.

Well I believe Phil doesn't really believe in the PG in the traditional sense so maybe that's why he doesn't hold Rose accountable.

Some fans saw that Rose and Noah was a bad pick up and choices to bring in. Now how did they see this and Phil didn't? I mean he is the great Phil Jackson right? He has access to more advance data than the fans do and yet he thought that those two pieces were going to help the knicks win. He thought AA was a good defensive player when he hasn't been a good defensive player since his early Denver days.

this draft is pg-heavy, especially st the top. maybe Phil didn't want to take Rubio and have him block a pg that he has in mind drafting. i wanted Rubio just as much as anyone else, but I'm not mad we didn't make the move. id rather have the cap space.

What is frustrating is that he apparently does see it. Reports leading up to the deadline were all saying that the Knicks were working on trading Rose first and then doing other deals second. The Rubio deal didn't get done.

Plus he likely plans on landing Rivers in the offseason, who is the better option because he can slide to the SG spot if we draft a PG, where as Rubio can only play PG.
I thought rose was joking about the flight to Chicago thing, but the fact he was serious makes me want to keep him for the rest of the season out of spite!

How many PGs come in ready to play? It takes PGs time to pick up things and if its Fox or ntilikina it will really take a wile due to there size and short cummings.

Nixluva, when the rumor came out that this deal was a possibility YOU were one of the very first to respond and screamed PLEASE GET IT DONE. What changed. I agree 100% with what you wrote here.
nixluva wrote:PLEASE, PLEASE let this happen!!! Rose has been such a tease with his game being so selfish and disconnected emotionally. Rose needs to go and I'd offer to drive him to Minny at this point. Just hope this really happens.
It's not about Rubio being so great but at least he loves passing the ball and making his teammates better!!!

Maybe because he was going to try and trade Rose or let him walk and didn't want to waste his time?
With Melo it's more like with Kobe. Challenge him to be better and see if he can be.
I think Phil knows in one case it was a short term investment and the other is a long term investment that he is slowly going to either move or keep pushing to improve
Jackson is spot on about his criticism of Melo. It's funny last year Phil talked about how KP hit a wall and took a lot of bad shots. You didn't see KP whine about it. It's as if you can't say one thing about Melo without it blowing up.
Can't wait to see this franchise free of Melo. Even George Karl said all the same things about Melo. So Phil, DAntoni and Karl. That's 3 of the top 10 coaches of the last 20 years and Phils case one of the 2 best ever.

Yeah the circumstances are very similar

Hopefully he uses the tactic that he has used with Melo on KP when he is trying to get him to take a little less so that he can play for the franchise he runs so well.
I already started a thread on this.....
Absolutely under no circumstances do we waive Derrick Rose. If he wants to go to Chicago, let him go.... but he will do it as property of the new York Knicks. No favors.... either play or get exiled. Absolutely no favors.... fuck you. Finish your contract you fucking bitch

truthfully i dont care. I actually think we lose more with him here so it helps our lottery hopes. Plus i dont want to give him what he wants. Its funny i got a lot of flack for not liking Rose when the trade was announced and during the rape case. Turns out many have seen the real Rose now

Well I'm all alot giving guys the benefit of doubt. Rose is actually playing well statistically as far as scoring the ball. He's just not a winner. He's a class A douche too now we know that to be a fact. I don't want to talk about that rape case again though.

There is something to this. But the Mavs just let DWill go and they signed Quinn Cook and Ben Bentil. Different strategies and both have merit. But if Rose is poisoning the well it might be smart to move on.

yeah i wasnt gonna open up a can of worms i was just using that as a example of him being a shady guy. You are right his ppg is good BUT he doesnt do anything else so the negatives outweigh the positives. However i wouldnt be upset if he was gone today
If he is being a disk then don't cut him and sit his ass to the bench. If he makes more noise then send him to the d-league. I am not giving him what he wants. We would have to pay even if we cut him. So no.

Sometimes it is better to cut your losses. Maybe they could negotiate a buy out and save a little bit and give a young guy some minutes.

I think Phil tried to make the deal but wanted a different deal than the TWolves. That's not the same thing as saying Phil doesn't get it or understand it. Phil does know the necessary ingredients to winning but it's not NBA 2k and it's very difficult to actually make deals or find a way to get top tier talent.
As for what yellowboy90 brings up about Rose, Noah or AA not being what Phil hoped for sure there fans on EVERY SIDE of any move and cherry picking the ones Phil got wrong doesn't prove a damn thing.
Most of the players have actually done well despite the losing this year.
Unfortunately Rose in particular hasn't played a winning style of ball. It was still worth a shot given the lack of other options to put a team together around Melo this year. Who else was legitimately available on a one year deal that kept options open? Noah hasn't been as bad as some think. Just couldn't stay healthy. BJ was a good backup and CLee has been about what was expected.
Not trading Rose at the deadline is all you need to know as to how little Phil cares and how over-matched in this job he is. The fact that you had a shot to dump him for a pass-first PG at a reasonable rate (i.e cheaper than Noah) for 2 years and to see how he could work with KP, Willy, and even Melo vs. keeping a guy who you KNOW can't work with those 3 guys, and who seems to be a day-to-day mood swing from going AWOL at any time - mind-boggling that he is still on this team. If the Knicks re-sign Rose - you can write off this team off until 2023 at least.
