How I feel this time of year

I really believe that there is one or two teams that can help Melo get a ring the Cavs and Warriors. Maybe the Spurs. I just see Melo more as a disrupter of team play.

Gotta take it from the other perspective - I don't think those teams would help Melo, Melo gotta help them.

Maybe the Cavs if they both struggle to get to Finals and then lose in a way that suggests they need an additional go to scorer.

I agree with you. It's the teams situation that is going to drive Melo's value. Clippers might think Paul needs more help. Same if Cavs lose. I just don't see Melo making the impact to take a team to far. If he goes to Raptors or Celtics I just don't see Melo making much of an impact to get them over the top or anything like that. Put it this way Melo needs very badly to be lead. I can see LeBron doing that for him. Maybe Paul can a little bit. I just don't see Melo buying in.

Man, you're like these guys I always see at the supermarket parking lot, driving around fasking if you're interested in a "cheap" home theater or PS4 lol

I don't believe that to be the case any more, especially if he goes to Clips with CP3 or Cleveland with LeBron. Even Boston will have the ball in Thomas's hands with the coach looming over the play

Melo wants to be Melo.... everyone knows that. That's why these teams that are in the playoffs will benefit from Melo. Melo doesn't have to be anything but himself. The team keeps doing what they been doing and Melo Just keeps doing what he's been doing.

I mention Toronto because I love to see DJsunyc's insight..... but you have the Celtics, Bulls, Clippers, Cleveland, San Antonio, Portland.... so many teams that are a 22pt a game scorer away from really making noise in the late rounds of the playoffs.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 5/2/2017 7:21 AM
Why the French? They don't speak French in Toronto.

Yes, Melo might score 22 a game but how many more will the team give up with him in the game? It is a Net + or Net -?

You don't need to know why I used french.... just know it is the language of love and I'm trying to lure our beloved back home

Don't watch Toronto much... what is up with DeMarre Carroll? Is he still hurt?
djsunyc @ 5/2/2017 1:31 PM

Let's revisit this after the Raps get smashed by the Cavs some more. We'll see how "good" you guys are then.

djsunyc @ 5/4/2017 1:46 PM
we still good. lebron is possibly the best player in history. melo ain't changing that.

But seriously, Cory Joseph, Demarre Carol, pick #23 for Melo isn't something you would do? Demarre and Joseph are two easily replaceable players. Adding Melo to Lowry and Derozen seem to me like the missing piece to their puzzle for the next 2 seasons

djsunyc @ 5/5/2017 11:27 AM
trade doesn't make sense for us b/c adding another iso type player is the last thing we need. at the sf spot, we need a more north/south playmaker - not a jab stepping hesitating shooter. and he's not good enough defensively to be a 3&d PF.

we already have an iso guy in dd - he and melo won't mix well at all.

I got you. I'm being nice but I agree Melo is too much of a iso guy to be trusted to buy in. Olympic Melo would fit in perfect though. That's a pipe dream that he would ever become that until he's way past his prime.

What's the next step for Toronto? How do they get better?

no next step. tough to get better than this - we can try to ride this out another couple of years - having a team that'll win around 50 games every year and advance a round. but nobody's beating lebron. we could beat everyone else tho.

i would like to give this core another run with a different coach tho. casey's been here 7 years - this could be a mark jackson type situation where another coach can step in and move us forward but chances of that are slim.

5 years of around 50 wins and some playoff advancements is some quality stuff and tough to achieve in the nba these days.
