His numbers right now on SAS are excellent. In 19 min, 7 points (59%) shooting, 6 rbs, 1.6 assists, etc (and 2nd best on/off +/- on the team). You can roughly double those if you're interested in the per 36 stats. Also, one of his all-star seasons (19 PPG, 11 RPG, 4 APG) was on a 47 win western conference team.
Lee was the last pick in the first round and we watched him work his way into a player with post moves, a mid range jump shot, strong rebounder and passer. His defense was lacking true but he was our pick that developed under us. He wouldn't have lead us to the promise land, but he is a strong example of the lack of stability this franchise has had.
We drafted Jordan Hill as Lee's replacement rather then using that pick for other needs. Then thew 100mil at another PF/C rather then using that money on other needs. If we plugged Lee in and maintain stability maybe we are able to have added multiple pieces. Eventually got nothing out of trading Lee as well.
How about the fact that he is making $1.5MM this year.
We signed Noah to a 72MM contract.
Again, last year Lin was available and he signed with Charlotte and ended up have a great year. This season it was Lee. could have been had for a small contract on a short term deal. Inside we have Noah eating up a max level salary slot.
He played well for the Knicks for a substainal period of time. Walsh had a chance to lock him into a very tradeable contract and declined and we got nothing in return. The hallmark of Knicks basketball, sell low, give away picks, assets and receive garbage back.

If only we had kept Nazr Mohammed. Heard he got a ring too.
Everything is about Melo to you, huh?!
Seriously, like Nalod said, what you get paid matters. Lee is making $2 mil a year. For that price, most teams can't even get a one-way player.
Not everything. Well, okay, maybe everything.
Hey, most of my Lin posts don't have anything to do with Melo, Dammit! Or do they?
You don't find it even slightly amusing that people have warm fuzzies about No DLee? It's akin to wanting Crawford back because of his amazing shot selection.
So your utilitarian argument is based purely on the balance sheet, not sentiment? Gotcha. Can't argue with you there, especially because right now, the poor guy's hurt.

to be fair most of your posts are about melo and how he is unjustly crucified by the "melo haters"

I thought I already granted that point in my first sentence above, but okay.

In terms of sentiment, I do like Lee. He's unselfish and gives good effort (even though he doesn't have the best athleticism for defense). My comments had more to do with salaries though. If Melo was making just a couple mil a season, he'd be a great player to have on the roster.
