An X factor no one is talking about with Ntilinkina yet,
His agent? Leon Rose of Creative Artist Agency.
Melo's agent? Leon Rose of Creative Artist Agency.
It would not be above Rose's typical tactics in place to use Ntilinkina in an open war between Melo and the Knicks franchise in a clear power struggle to stay/not stay/waive the NTC/not waive the NTC.
The wave of Phil Jackson sucks/It's Phil Jackson's fault/Fire Phil Jackson formal articles and hit pieces out there are coming from Rose and CAA, at the behest of Melo, they are not coming from nowhere. Clearly Melo needs Jackson fired to stay in his comfy no expectations/do what I want iso ball chuck-a-palooza. Jackson needs Melo traded to move forward with the franchise. If they both stay for two more years, it will be truly ugly.
Franky N is a compromise pick if Hornacek stays, he fits a need, he can play defense, the Knicks need a PG, he can fit the befuddling Triangle, at least in theory, he has combo guard potential, which Hornacek needs and wants.
If he's seen as about equal to other prospects though once the 8th pick comes up, the Leon Rose issue might be a push point to just pick another player. MLB and the NFL, it happens all the time, specific teams avoid specific agents unless the talent issue is too overwhelming to ignore. Not sure this applies here.
