Knicks · Woj Making Up KP-Trade Rumors? Could Be Related To Martin's Thread From Yesterday? (page 2)

KP's brother makes a statement.
The beef is legit between KP's bro and Phil, it seems.

"Despite how the Knicks are treating their players, Kris wants to stay in NY"

Phil needs to stay calm. I hope he is playing mind F-k games with KP and his bro. You can not trade KP 2 years into his career. He's a phenomenal two-way player in the making. Got to give him some more time. He acted like an immature punk but Phil's got to be patient. KP will mature.

If he actually trades him though then it better be a trade where Boston overpays with draft picks. Like #3, rights to Nets pick 2018 and the unprotected pick they got from Philly(LA or Sac).

Would give us 5 top 8 lotto picks this yr and next. Something you would have to consider.

It wouldn't be wrong on Phils part to listen.

What's real is teams are reaching out to the Knicks. There is no way to know what is being said on the other end. Again, no real news. Teams are always doing their due diligence on player availability.

When is due diligence to much. Do you do due diligence of Anthony Davis hell no

Even if Phil did try to trade him, Dolan would likely prevent it. KP is the cash cow. Phil will be gone before KP.

Did he give any kind of sourcing? Could be something from KP's side if they want to get out of NY sooner rather than later (or even push Phil to KEEP Melo)... OR from a GM who would like to pick KP up in a deal and thinks by getting a reaction from KP's people against Phil they might achieve this.

No sourcing but KP brother did say KP wants to remain a Knick. Reported also by Ian

Dolan to told the press recently "ask Phil" about anything, says he has no role. Needing Dolan to be the voice of sanity doesn't give me much comfort, lol.

begley said "according to sources" which could be anyone, even woj.

i think martin hit this on the head - woj isn't getting any information from the knicks (and hasn't been) so he's doing what he knows will disrupt the franchise the most and that's flame kp rumors.

Everybody say "according to sources" EVERYBODY

Dolan isn't involved. Dolan loves Melo. He isn't a part of what is going onthere either.

Dolan loves Melo, but KP has provided a marketing replacement. Dolan isn't involved, until he feels he needs to be. He is the owner.

I believe most of this is Phil's mind games with his brother. Phil isn't going to let KP's brother push him around.
There's a clear discord there.
I really can't believe KP skipped the meeting or thought it was a good idea.
And I really hope Phil is not serious about trading Kris.

If it happens, it better be a great deal. Like we need to get Fox or Ball and Lauri. And then another young core player or future lottery pick. That + Willy, will be a good core of players in a rebuild.

A good GM always listens to offers for ANY player. This is doing your job. I have no issue with it at all. I love KP but he has flaws in his game and maybe the Knicks dont see him getting better at them and want to trade him at his peak.

That being said, there is a 1% chance he is traded.

Never thought I'd say this...we need Dolan to get involved and end this failing Phil Jackson experiment.

The problem is not listening.
The concern is they are listening after a time there's a clear discord between KP's brother. Phil and the coaching staff.

There's a real fued going on here between KP, Melo and the team. I think KP's brother clearly sides with Melo and KP wants Melo to stay in NY. There's so many things in play it's crazy. At some point you push management as much as KP has (for a non-established star) they will push back.

I hate this is happening. I will be upset with Phil and want him gone if he gets anything less than two lottery picks for KP. However, I understand why this is happening. KP made his bed when he skipped that meeting and ignored the team's wishes about playing for Latvia. KP is acting like a diva, a spoiled brat. I am a huge KP fan, such that guys like hof call me Latvian lol (I'm not!). KP really shouldn't have played this card though. He's not a superstar and I can't recall any 2 year player skipping meetings and acting like this. Heck even Lebron James wouldn't pull this BS two years into the league and he was given King status right away.

KP needs to get back on page with Knicks. He needs to let the Melo crush go. Melo has to move on. Also, KP needs to see that playing international competition every summer is part of the reason a big man like Yao ruined his career. Knicks want you to develop in a way you are not injury prone. To me it seems KP's brother is not giving him the best advice.

I agree with what you say. KP needs to become the player he is supposed to be. Then he CAN start demanding things. Phil may look at him and just want to nip that attitude now.

The upside is that he won't have to pack his bags.
stanleybostitch @ 6/20/2017 12:55 PM
I love KP. But you have to listen. What if the Celts offer something like the following:

#3 pick this year
One young wing off the current roster (crowder, etc.)
One or two future #1's (Nets/Sac/LA/etc)

That's a 4-for-1. We need to maximize our assets - in this scenario we are maximizing assets.

And if you're lucky, MAYBE one of those picks turns into a player as good as Porzingis can be. Probably not though. This is so stupid

Nalod @ 6/20/2017 1:06 PM
I thought Phil don't even take those calls?

Ok, PHIL SHOULD LISTEN TO OFFERS!!! Nothing wrong with that.
I love KP, but every one has a price and when it gets exceeded, it should be noted.
I don't want him to trade the kid. But, if there is a thought that he won't be all that we hope he could be and someone wants to throw a treasure trove of yoot
in hopes of "winning now" then PERHAPS we should entertain that.

fwk00 @ 6/20/2017 1:09 PM
I think he'd redundant with Willie and Willie, IMO, may be the better player.

If the Knicks get Fulz and Simmons and a future first for KP, I'm all ears.

GustavBahler @ 6/20/2017 1:10 PM
What worries me about these rumours are that it fits a pattern. Last season before the playoffs Phil was talking about the long game while being competitive. Right after all the drama of the playoffs, the finals (2016), Phil went out and tried to make a splash himself by bringing in Rose and Noah. That put the emphasis clearly on the short term. with two players who haven't been able to stay healthy.

The playoffs this season weren't nearly as dramatic as last year's. The big headlines, the drama is in the draft, the players, the deals. Now right on cue, Phil is taking offers to maybe make another big splash, this time in the draft. Really hope Phil learned his lesson.
