Knicks · If the Knicks can get Josh Jackson for KP--go for it (page 2)

Because there is no sure thing in the draft, they still have to prove they can be stars let alone rotation players. Porzingis has already shown he can be a star. We will never get anywhere if Phil keeps trading away quality assets for broken down vets, trade one of the best young players in the league, for draft picks who may not pan out. All this while forcing a system on players that has not been used successfully in many years
Phil isn't trading KP, teams are asking about KP and Phil is listening to what they have to offer. It would be absolutely stupid on Phils part to not listen. Maybe even make a counter offer nothing wrong in it. He is doing his jobs.
They are not on good terms right now (for another discussion) These trade talks with KP is only pouring gasoline on a fire.
They aren't on good terms why because he blew off the meeting? That isn't Phils fault the is all in team KP. Win one all star game competition and this guy thinks he has won a championship. Sorry but Phil is doing his due diligence. He has to find out what teams are offering for KP that is part of his job.
Phil's job is to build a contender and he's done a God awful job of it. One missed meeting should not trigger trade talks for the best draft pick in 30 years. If Phil is really the adult in the room (which I have seen no evidence of) he needs to make a concerted effort to come to some kind of understanding with Porzingis. That should be job one right now, not listening to offers.

It's the offseason. What do you suggest?
Phil met with KP's agent.
Knicks wanted to meet with KP when he was in NY before he left. KP didnt?
Knicks have texted KP. Nothing back
What's next? Grovel?

You said the same thing about Frank Kaminsky.
Even if we definitely wanted to trade KP and even if we were enamored with Josh Jackson this would still be selling insanely low. He's young, has a ton of potential, he could be the perfect 5 in today's NBA, and he's under team control for at least another 3 years.

Another report says there has been no communication. Phil doesnt have to grovel, but considering his record as an exec he should think of himself not as a championship coach with a track record, but as an exec with no track record, no playoff victories, no playoff appearances, who needs to do a better job of getting along with his most important players. Maybe send Gaines, or someone KP trusts. Not Rambis, we'll end up going to War with Latvia.

It's the offseason, can the Knicks have formal meetings with players? Or is this totally up to the player?
Cause it seems to me it's KP who is the one holding up things. He skipped exit meeting. Played around in NY when Knicks still wanted to meet. Does not return text messages from team. Is off working out.
What's your next move here?
BRIGGS wrote:I think its a no brainer--id pick Jackson #1. Picks 3 and 37 for KP IF Jackson is at 3.
Need WAY MORE than that Briggs for gods sake.
I LOVE Josh Jackson and would agree he is the (1) pick in this draft that I would require as part of a KP package but and a BIG but we need way more from Celtics.
Deal would have to at least include #3 (Josh Jackson), J-Brown and better of 2018 Net/Laker pick plus I'll add in Rozier from Celtics.
Celtics get KP and can potentially add G-Heyward or another piece this summer and they keep the rest of their vet core in tact - plus leaves them with either Net/Laker pick next year.
If we move KP it has to be for 3 legit assets at a minimum and you squeeze whatever else you can.
BRIGGS wrote:I think jackson can be a special player-- I don't need to see him in an nba game to see bonafides-- he's going to be great
Briggs - you thought Frank Kaminsky was going to be great and a few weeks ago you had us taking Frank Jackson at #8.
You think either the Bulls or Pacers (if George wasn't already leaving) would take JUST the #3 for Butler/George? Answer is no - it would require multiple picks and potentially multiple players.
jskinny35 wrote:Letting him come back and sweeping this under the rug would be the worst outcome in my opinion...
Too late for that. The time to take that sort of actions was when Rose no-showed so he could run back home.

I like josh jackson. I'd be happy to get pick 3 and 37. If you feel you are getting a 10 ur superstar and a quality 2 nd choice at 37-- what's wrong w the return. No team is going to give us 5 lottery picks for kp. In a month after u see jackson u won't remember kps name

So what about KP for Paul George? If KP had that value then that trade should work fine

Has anyone from the Knicks actually tried to call KP? We know they spoke to his brother. Phil has no problem dissing his players in public, has he publicly said that he wants to talk to KP?
They told KP he was the future, then went out and got a PG who largely ignored him. I think the kid just wants to know that there is a plan (a good plan) and he is part of it. How many core players does Phil have to get into a beef with before its considered a problem?

NO! Indy would move at light speed to agree to that trade. PG just told them he's leaving when he becomes a free agent. Replacing a disgruntled 2nd banana with a potential superstar still on his rookie deal would be a total coup for them.

Briggs, the question isn't what's wrong with a 10 year superstar for Porzingis. You're missing the point.

Yep. Even if you love Jackson completely this trade is absolutely selling low. Boston, to even get a conversation started. needs to put this year's pick and either next year's Brooklyn or LA pick on the table at a minimum.

Yeah you can ask for whatever you want but I'm saying what would appeal to me at a minimum basis
