It's patheticmaybe your only reading the NY articles, but this topic is all over the internet form everyone covering the NBA
Stop buying into the Media Trash! Phil's JOB is to field offers and try to improve the team. This is literally what happens every year at this time. But the Media knows Knicks Fans will overreact and that leads to more clicks and viewers tuning into SAS ranting. SMDH!
Dude it's a suppose franchise young talent, you think this was someone's personal opinion. No ones going to report this as fact if it wasn't, That career suicide.
We don't hear anything about teams calling the pelicans about Davis. But because it's the knicks, it turns into a big thing.

Why NY is not a good landing spot for rookie GMs.
Why Dolan had to overpay Phil to take the job.

The above is very general and black n white. It leaves out key specific details, like talking to other teams about your main piece in a rebuild, one that is better than any prospect in this draft.
Phils main issue is that he promised to create a winning and professional culture, instead he has created one with a circus atmosphere and one with a clueless front office. The Knicks perception is as low as it gets. This is a players league and rightly or wrongly, players feel as though management does not treat its players well. This is the belief inside and outside of the organization.
There was a report that quoted KP's bro, Janis saying that, 'despite the way management treats its players, Kris wants to stay in NY'. I paraphrased the quote and i will search for it, but that reiterates my point that the perception is really bad. And this perception as occurred on phils watch so he has to take a major hit. This is one of the reasons why I want phil removed from the organization...

Saw the quote and really its bad for everyone. Bad for the Knicks for the reasons you stated, but also bad for KP because it makes him look silly. He blew off the chance to address some of the concerns he had, and statements like that from his brother only make it worse. If KP doesn't want the drama why not put something out there that indicates he is trying to resolve the rift (if there is one) instead of making more of the situation.

I agree that is bad on both sides, but its worse on managements side. Again, rightly or wrongly, the running narrative on the Knicks organization is that of dysfunction. Its one thing when the media says it from the outside, but to have one of your players, from the inside, confirm that there is dysfunction makes it worse. A player who is supposed to be the future face of the organization, no less. This is really bad!

I can't find a single article without the word dysfunction and a complete mess when speaking of the knicks, and that's exactly how it was during the dark days of Isaiah. It's like phil doesn't really care about how he treats players, and how it looks from the outside.
It's SAD, and REALLY BAD

agreed. But to be fair a lot of the best organizations are organization first, not player first. Celts shipped out Pierce and their championship team because it was "right" for the celtics. Heat runs a tight ship (wouldn't buckle to Wade or Bosch) and Riley is famous for a tight ship; would Spurs put up with this baloney, the Lakers?
Melo has been a prima donna every place he's been -- and it's not good. His problems are his own creation -- on and off the court. He's a big boy and can handle himself. And honestly, if he were a true friend he would be telling KP to say out of this rhiff he and Phil have.
IMO Phil has said nothing wrong; his biggest sin has been brutally honest rather than deflecting difficult questions
KP is making a big mistake. This should have been kept in house, and even then he probably would have been best to keep his yap shut and do what he's told, when he's told. Focus on basketball.
Janis is making a bigger mistake; he's way over his head and he's not doing his brother any favors.
I love KP, but it's a big mistake when things aren't team first

And the solution is what, buckle to the players, let the kooks run the asylum again as Knicks have done for years? Players are paid millions to play the game, not coach, not play armchair GM. They're getting called out for not playing D, not sacrificing for the betterment of the team and getting pissy about it. They should take a long look in the mirror and ask what they're doing to make the situation better

How are the players being mistreated?
Phil gave a long interview, said nice things about melo, then said he holds the ball too long.
Said Melo should leave if he wants to win. Shamed him into saying he wants to win? Oh dear!!!
Rose mistreated?
KP told to stop shooting bail out threes? Oh My God!!
Jennings?
KP rested a few games at the end?
What is the dysfunction this season that is so wrong?

Beautifully stated.
The trouble with the "dysfunction" narrative is that the ONLY people saying this are the NY media who are themselves so dysfunctional that they think its normal to throw the Knicks under the bus without any provocation let alone an idiot kid who thinks he's bigger than the organization because he sells sneakers.
Phil, Mills, Gaines, and the rest of the staff have been collectively professional, collectively discreet, and profoundly unified in their goals. This extends to Dolan himself. What dysfunction are the media claiming?
As for the accusation that the Knicks mistreat players - in what way? Would the press and players prefer lies? Should Phil have said, "Yeah, we want to win with Melo who is still an underrated superstar in this league?" when asked about the coming season and then proceeded to try trading him? How would that play in Queens? And what credibility would the organization have?
Oh, or maybe Phil should have taken a list of demands from Porzingis or his brother as to how to run the team to keep them happy. *NOW* are you happy?" - "No, Porgy wants to draft a buddy from southeastern Latvia at #8... OKAY!"
Porzingis is exposing himself as a self-centered asshat and isn't getting the advice to STFU. Too bad for him. In the NY minute it takes when he injures himself enough to be a doorstop, he will meet a dark reality about sports highs and lows. He's well on his way down that track.

The dysfunction is documented and has been disgust here ad nauseum...Regardless, of what you believe, my point was about the perception of this franchise as being a joke and dysfunctional. You can try to explain it all you want, but when KP's brother who has more insight than any of us says that KP wants to 'remain despite the way management treats its players', there has to be something to that statement. You want to know how the players are being mistreated? Ask Janis and KP!

You lost everyone at "Phil...collectively discreet"
What dysfunction are the media claiming? That the franchise changes directions every 6 months? That the decisions and results for going on 4 years sucks? You have erased all memories of Derek Fisher? Triangularity and it's deranged affect on the team and coaches? Kurt the Rambis? Who's responsible for that dysfunction? KP? Rose?

The "something" to that statement by Porgy's brother is that his brother would be running a fruit stand at a street market in Latvia if he wasn't living off the coat-tails of his brother. He's in over his head and it doesn't matter much because his head above water isn't worth its salt anyway.
Im asking this because it seems like we could go another 3-4 years of losing and some folks will still be blaming everyone but Phil for the results.
Never seen a team exec with such an abysmal record, with an almost religious following. What will make you want to cut bait with Phil as team president? Would really like to know.
