The Knicks, according a source, have interest in reuniting the Holiday brothers. Justin told The Post during the regular season it would be “a dream’’ to play with his brother. The Post reported Friday the Knicks had considered opening up more cap space with a Courtney Lee salary dump. Lee will make $12 million next season in the second of a four-year deal. If Lee is gone, Justin Holiday could move to starting shooting guard.
http://nypost.com/2017/06/30/knicks-desp...If Mills can pull off this move in the offseason, I will give him a ton of credit. This makes the most sense for the Knicks going forward. We will have 17 mill after renouncing Rose and Sasha. Add another 12 mill if we can dump Lee's contract. That's 29 mill. Gives us enough to offer Jrue, who is only 27, to pry away from Pelicans. Then slide in his brother Justin as the starting shooting guard (he earned it after his play last year).
1) Jrue
2) Justin
3)Melo/LT
4)KP
5)Wily
6) Frank
7) KOQ
8) Baker
9) Dotson
Not too shabby.
Could happen.
I Think holiday is a smart move. He is young enough to grow with the young core and he is good.
They would have a good defensive and offensive backcourt then.
For me still need to exile Melo.
Melo for Otto Porter? Wash needs more firepower. They'd probably laugh at it but def worth a try.
Would rather avoid the clutter at PG. Frankie is our starting PG opening day. Lets upgrade at SG

I don't think he is leaving Nola. I saw/heard somewhere that he feels a loyalty to the Pels for their support during his wife's pregnancy/illness. I also think he will get paid by the Pels.
Ok with that too.
Frankly that is my first choice. Just saying Holiday fits a rebuild too.
frank can learn and grow into the role this way.
Jrue cost too much and is only average at best.

Agreed. Jrue has been less than average plus injury prone. Everything I'm hearing is that he's staying where he is anyway.
If we're looking for a stopgap PG at around $10 million per I'd consider Collison, Rondo or Teodosic (probably for less).

Is that you, Frank?
Picking up Holiday would indicate that we are not doing a tear down, and are keeping Melo...or so it would seem.
He is underrated but injury prone.
Most likely will sign the 5 yr max with NO.
Better choice than all the other fA PGs
I thought Holiday had already committed to NOLA today.
George Hill would be a great addition if we want to compete now.

Jrue could move over to SG in time. He's more of a combo than anything. I just don't want to invest the money.
On paper it sounds good, but Hornacek might be hesitant to coach a pair of brothers again. Once one of the Morris brothers got traded from Phoenix, all hell broke loose.
I guess the goal is to be mediocre. We are screwed. Pelicans talking about 5 years 170mil. Say that don't work out and we dump Lee to clear cap space probably giving up 2nd round picks. Then we sign Holiday starting at around 27mil per. And retain his brother at 7-8mil per. We become a mediocre team with no cap space. mediocre draft picks.
If if they don't land Holiday because he goes to the Pelicans. The fact that this is the mindset smh.

Just because the Morris brothers were a couple of nuts doesn't mean every bother combination has to be.
There's no way that Jrue is worth $27 million. He's been below average and injury prone. Supposedly Teague is signing for 3 years $55 million and he's a much better point guard. If we could sign George Hill for Teague's money I'd be very pleased.

The Knicks will get a meeting with Jrue Holiday if he doesn't agree to a deal with the Pelicans at the start of free agency, sources confirm to ESPN. This meeting wouldn't be finalized until tomorrow morning at the earliest. The Knicks currently have about $15 million in cap space if they renounce their rights to Derrick Rose so they would been to shed salary to make a competitive offer for Holiday. They would also like to re-sign Justin Holiday. Their potential meeting with Jrue Holiday was first reported by the NY Post.

From what Ive read, some promises were made by mgmt about one of them being traded. You're right it might be different here. Figure Hornacek has been through some of the same things in two cities as a head coach, might not want to go through another similar experience here.
This seems like a wish and prayer, I don't see holiday leaving NOP. Why can't we be just ok with baker and frank ?
I want a top three pick! I do like trying to upgrade from lee I like lee as a 7th or 8 th man not a starter

They can always wait until someone is hired as GM. They can do what you said, see what Baker and Frank can do. If they arent progressing as fast as mgmt likes, they could try again at the first trade dealine.
As long as we have someone at point who knows what they're doing. Dont want them to tank, and not have anything positive come out of the season, but a draft pick who might not amount to anything. Some progress needs to be made.
keep whatever cap space for a deal like Houston looking to move Ryan Anderson - where we can gain a draft pick or two for a salary dump.
Do not trade away a future draft pick, 1st or 2nd rounder, to erase courtney lee. Supposedly, he came here at a discount due to Noah signing, or so I have been assured by many posters here...
