It wasn't a major market to begin with and with the damage phil has done, the potential movement of melo, we are probably headed for another 17 win season. I can't see anyone wanted
Thibs has turn minny into playoff contender for sure and it took just 2 yrs.
They had the #1 pick in kp's draft and look at how they have surrounded Towns with some very good talent.
I'm not sure how the so called damage Phil did impacted what the Knicks will do. Melo was always going to be difficult to move. The Knicks weren't really going into this summer expecting to make a Superteam. The Knicks are on their own timeline so mentioning Minnesota isn't really the point is it?
There's literally no reason to panic or be despondent at this stage. The Knicks have to go thru the process of GROWING OUR OWN STARS!!! You seem to be stuck in Quick Fix Mode!

Thibbs was able to trade 3 lotto picks for Butler and still fall back on Towns, Wiggins, Deing, Rubio. Because Minny was able to collect multiple lotto picks over the years from sucking. The fact that you aren't able to see this is mind boggling.
Also Minny had years of high draft picks or young picks that garnered some value...wiggins, levine, etc...those assets with towns being in place allowed for the quick turn around...we are just starting to have regular control of our picks...also Phils way of valuing players took a lot of potential talent off the table and put the focus on other two way ball movement talent...not bad just different...
We are a team in flux...which would be any team that just fired the top guy....

Agree. Hard to compare. The point, I think is that Minny has done a much better job bringing in pieces around their young star. One thing that was a miss and will have short term impact and possible long term impact, if Frank turns out to be a bust, is to draft someone in who is not ready to start from day 1. Think Monk would have been a good SG and could have started right away. As I think Smith Jr. would be able to start as well. Will be dissapointed if Frank is not a starter.
Phil gave you a core to work with now you have to develop the core. You my friend need to practice patience. Guys like you are the reason you can't rebuild in NY.

True. They have made some nice moves. But, your right, they did have more assets.

2 guys? Not enough in three years to call a core. Imo
i thought since phil and the dreaded triangle was history that guys would be lining up to play here, you mean the vaunted ny media was lying?

Pinned. First day genius post.

Players like Monk are the easiest to acquire in the NBA. Players like Frank who can play defense, shoot the 3, and offer play making is way harder.
Guys like Lavine, Booker, Wiggins, Russell, Oladipo(magic), Gordan(pre Houston role player) all put up nice numbers on teams that were trash. Their defense is poor though, their win shares is poor, they don't really make anyone better which is why their teams were losing. You are right that maybe you would be able to fool teams into giving up Jimmy Butlers for them though based off their stats though. But in terms of building a winner. They usually turn into role players off the bench ala Gordan. Or have careers like Rudy Gay.
Disclaimer. Will give Monk the benefit of doubt since he has yet to play in the NBA. But I like Frank's foundation as a player better.

Knicks have to do something first called "winning". I know crazy.....

There is no money and not a lot of talent on the team. Also state/city income tax is always a factor. Melo is leaving. If you are a vet why would you come. The Knicks shouldn't be targeting first day guys anyway.
Damage Phil has done?
As a gm he's left us in a position much greater than when he left. You should be thanking him.

If you're a vet why would you come? Well you said yourself that Melo is leaving. Boom. Makes us a better destination. And the Knicks do have cap space to use.

The Knicks are paying Noah 18 mil this year. That is some damage. Phil tied up 56 mil in contracts with Melo, Noah, and Lee. All three guys are in their thirties. How is that a rebuild or planning for one.

Its not debatable. Based off all the assets Walsh gave away. Then decisions Grunwald had to make to make a promised playoff team since we were paying Amare 100mil and traded for Melo. Rather then waiting a season and clearing 40mil in cap space to build around Melo. We were giving away draft picks for Bargnaini and left over picks from the Melo trade(the same draft Wolves added Wiggins(for Love) and Lavine).

I agree that Phil was wrongly maligned and when we look back at this team 5 years from now (when we are winning championships) people will see how he righted a sinking ship by adding 3 great young pieces in KP, Willy and Frank, installing a winning system and holding onto our draft picks. Thanks, Phil!

Thing is I'm VERY HIGH on Dotson and I like some of the other UDFA's Phil brought in. I think this is the BEST UDFA class we've every had! Just cuz these guys are rather unknown doesn't mean that they aren't very good players that can be developed as solid role players for this team. Nitty and Dotson are Two Way Players! They have actual skills that fit a TEAM GAME. We have to be patient unless something good develops that the Knicks have to jump on.

There are four to go forward with. But you blind eyes would have trashed Draymond Green and Tony Parker or any second round pick which is a steal.
