Knicks · Why Rose? (page 1)
nychamp wrote:Can someone please explain to me why the Knicks would be interested in bringing him back? I'm not asking you to agree with it, but I honestly can't fathom what the reasoning would be for such a move. I thought the organization was at peace with the idea of lowering expectactions and developing younger guys. He was an awful fit with Porzingis and has one tool. Any insight into the Knick thinking? Just heard on ESPN radio now that the Knicks are "definitely interested" in resigning him.
They probably wont. Think KP's camp did not like KP playing alongside him. Believe Rose was Phil's guy. Which made no sense as he just passed on D. Smith. Jr. Unless he is on the cheap and can start passing more. Would have to be Jeff really wanting to run PnR offense with KP.
Did you make those observation of Rose or you listening to someone else opinions? I for one thought Rose played very good. Chemistry sometime isn't built in one season. Remember Rose miss training camp but for the most I saw him directing traffic when in the half court offense. Rose stat's say he had more than one tool so you are paying attention. Driving to the basket and finishing the way he did surprise me. So I was very please to see that.
SUGGESTION: find someone that knows 'Real BB' and learn from them. NOT ESPN because they will say things to cause attention for rating. Same for the radio talk shows. Most are GARBAGE!!!
That isn't listening to ESPN, that's reading his stats as you suggested.
Speaking from my perspective only, please. Rose is an elite penetrator and finisher at the rim. And that's it. Awful defense, bad passer (jumps in the air often), not a team player. Shut out KP. Tunnel vision. Critical mistakes/turnovers in key stretch moments. From watching the games, bro. You watching the games or looking at box scores? Just mentioned espn because I heard the report of the Knicks being interested. Obviously their and other media analysis is 99% ignorant and/or clickbait. Thanks for your advice but I'm good.
27. Derrick Rose, New York Knicks (Previous Ranking: No. 26)Age: 28
Per-Game Stats: 18.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.3 blocks
Advanced Metrics: 17.0 PER, minus-2.75 RPM, minus-83.63 TPA
If you think Derrick Rose belongs any higher, your reasoning likely falls into one of two lines of thought: Either Rose's name and the remnants of his MVP reputation have swayed you, or you can't get past the fact he's averaging 18 points and 4.4 assists. No matter which school of thought you subscribe to, you'd be looking past his atrocious defense (which often involves little-to-no effort), his set-commandeering tendencies and his lack of floor-spacing ability.
If you're looking for Frank to have a mentor who can work with him, Rose is not your guy.
If you're looking for a PG to provide perimeter D, Rose is not your guy.
If you're looking for a PG to spread the floor with his outside game, Rose is not your guy.
Even if you could get him for pennies on the dollar, Rose does nothing to help build the franchise.
I can't even understand why he's in the mix right now, unless his agent is trying to create a demand for him.

Champ,
Watch the same games you say watched. Was KP open?? Was moving without the ball?? The answer is NO!! If you look at the games KP didn't work to get open. Lee was the only player who constantly was moving for an open shot. Rose found him!! Critical/Mistakes/turnovers belong to Melo with his ISO. Don't know what you so in the last minutes of games but the ball was in Melo hands not Rose not Lee not KP. Media analysis are being paid to create situations which they might not know anything about. It good for rating!!
THE ADVICE WAS FREE!! THINK YOU NEED IT!!

Defense is coached!! If a player isn't playing D.(that you practice AGAIN that you practice) then you take him out an point out his mistakes. Yes/NO?? Never so Jeff do that with anybody, period. Is playing defense solely Rose?? It's easy for you to write that Rose doesn't play defensive, very easy. But who is responsible for team defensive?? It the coach, GustavBahler!! Nowhere have you mention any the other 4 players on the court with Rose. Where is the rim protection, where is the players that switches if you man get pass you?? Lack of floor-spacing?? Please that happen if all the players are moving without the ball. C'mon you guys can say somethings that average no bb knowledge will say, 'yeah that right'. Try that one someone that doesn't know BB.

Because he ticks all the boxes for Knicks signings:
-Selfish
-Can't/won't play defense
-injury history
-a**hole
-aging and declining

I have more to say to adults. I posted some stats and you respond with a tantrum. Like I said, another realgm refugee...
Among the Knicks players who played under hornachek last season, rose was one of the worst defensively and certainly worst among the veterans who did and would command a large salary.
his comparative performance coaching and scheme being equal suggests an individual lack of aptitude.
Among 15 bad defensive players there is still relative ability and his is among the worst.
He also shows a career-long lack of passing skill that is now more problematic as his true shooting percentage has declined, due to a negative trend in his ability to finish and draw fouls.
He is more of a ISO shooting guard that can't shoot. Still has 'elite' penetrating ability but it does not translate to either setting up teammates for easy baskets or high percentage conversionS for himself.

If you act like an adults then you will be treated like one. I responded and called you out on statement you made Rose defense. I asked you several questions that are basic knowledge to anyone that knows the game of 'Real BB'. You never answered or responded to either. See you have a problem with someone questioning your post. It easy to say things with no one asking for an explanation. So go run and hide. We'll leave it that, huh. BTW, does Rose have an action figure?? HAVEN'T BEEN IN THE TOY DEPT. IN YEARS.
