Knicks · Ainge reached out to Knicks about Smart, Crowder, Bradley... (page 1)

SocraticBallin22 @ 7/5/2017 7:11 PM

Best news of the day. Celts are desperate to clear cap space to fit Hayward; they have no choice but to part with some of their young talent. This is where a smart GM swoops in and makes a play on Smart, Bradley or Crowder. I would love Crowder to replace Melo once he's moved. Mills needs to prove himself right now and take advantage of the situation if he wants to show he's a competent GM.

They will want something in return like draft picks.

Exactly, Ainge is a greedy SOB and a Knicks pick for Smart at the state we are in is more or less as valuable as a Nyets pick and those Laker/ Philly picks. Just Say no if it costs anything more than a future second rounder.

Yep I would take any of those guys but not for a first. All those guys are FA's next year aren't they? My guess is they know they can't resign them so they want to get assets before they walk in FA. Bradley will probably get 15 a year, Crowder could as well.

They need cap space.

At least you know what you're getting, and they are experience and young.

I don't get it with precious draft picks, like 85% of the league and draft are role players, and like 1 to 3 players becomes more...you going to wait to draft and develop a younger crowder or smart.. really

What ever happen to "GET it while it's hot"

Do Plumlee and Randle have team options on their deals? Contracts like those and maybe a second round pick might get it done. KOQ's deal is very tradable. Ainge has to get something done. The Knicks don't. If it works for the Knicks get it done. Smart would be a nice addition.
newyorknewyork @ 7/5/2017 7:52 PM
They are probably asking for Willy.

I like Bradley to fill the role of veteran mentor for Frank, but lets face it, it's a 1 year rental and I'm not giving up picks.

It's all about getting players at the right price. If you have guy who gives you $25 mil worth of production but is taking up $25 mil in cap room, you're just breaking even. That's basically what a .500 team does. You need as many good players on rookie contracts when building a roster so that you have as much cap room available too.

There are many things to consider. Like how many picks are they asking for. Bradley is an upcoming FA. Would he resign or will he bolt to like LA or something. We would have to pay him next year if he does stay so our cap space would be tied up. Depending on the deal we could go into next year with no cap space and no draft pick. We won't be able to add pieces to improve.

I would like the Knicks to add multiple picks and assets so we can use that as house money for veteran like this rather than risking gridlocking ourselves again. But it all depends on the deal. If they are asking for one draft pick for Bradley and Crowder then I'm fine with that

yellowboy90 @ 7/5/2017 8:10 PM
No to Smart and yes to the other two. I just wonder what are players value after the Butler, Paul, and George trades.
joec32033 @ 7/5/2017 8:25 PM
I would take any 2 of these 3. I like Bradley but he is realistically an undersized 2. Crowder only makes sense if Melo is gone. Maybe a Houston/NYK/Boston 3 way..

Knicks get Crowder and Smart and Bradley
Houston gets Melo
Boston gets Anderson, Courtney Lee, Capella

Realgm verified to work.

I instantly thought that.... I would hate to lose Willy for only Marcus Smart. KP, Noah and KOQ could man the center spot. We kinda need to start looking at moving Willy

How does taking on Anderson help them? When they are trying to shed salary?

Boston wants 1st round picks
meloshouldgo @ 7/5/2017 9:21 PM
If Boston wants to dump salary we should ask them for the Nets pick and absorb what we can. No trading anything of ours unless its KOQ.
Uptown @ 7/5/2017 9:31 PM
Looks like Crowder is going to Utah in a sign and trade...

Because that's a reasonable request and likely to be agreed to.

BRIGGS @ 7/5/2017 9:41 PM
There is no one in the Knicks organization who is on the level to deal with Danny Ainge
