Am I doing this right? 
Baker's defense early on has been quite good. If we're going by the last few games, dont believe its such a crazy question. Frank's body of work defensively has been very good. Best to revisit this question after Baker has more PT to make a case, or not.
I'm surprised both of them have shot so poorly in the NBA.
Ntilikina has had a particularly small sample size. If he goes on a mini hot streak and shoots 20/40 from the field (let's say he goes 4/8 in each of the next 5 games), it'll get his FG% close to 40%. His stroke looks solid; he'd probably be a better shooter if he took more shots and got a feel for the ball going in the basket. He shoots so sporadically that a lot goes into each shot.

Yup. New PG's have it the toughest in the league, everyone else has 2 main decisions: Shoot ball if open and within your range/offense, pass ball. PG's gotta know when to shoot, when to pass, what offense needs to be executed, who needs ball, how to run this PnR, etc. Lots of things going on a usually shooting ball is after all of the above unless super wide open.
The Anti Baker folks have been impatient with him IMO. Both Ntilikina and Baker have shown a lot of moxie on D and unselfish play. It’s not just about offense with these kids.

It's unfortunate, but both were hurt during training camp and/or preseason.

This was the big factor in early struggles but I felt the Knicks were aware of this and remained patient as they should. They knew what they had in these kids who they watched work all summer before the Training Camp injuries derailed their progress.
Knick fans are hard to accept patience because not since Eddie Donovan was the GM have we enacted rebuilding thru the draft.
Rebuilding is not easy.

Last year, it was debatable if Ron was even a NBA player. But I felt h had a chance fro. What I saw with the hustle, competitiveness and vision. It looks like he put in the work. He's shooting a lot better. It's a small sample size, but he looks more confident. Throw in the fact that the team isn't forcing him to be the primary ball handler and you've got a situation where Ron is in position where he can succeed. I don't expect to be a starter, but he could definitely be a third or fourth guard with more work.
I'd say Ntilikina has more upside & rightfully should based on draft status and how young they are; but both have potential.
Baker was put into a tough spot for a rookie last year. Playing a demanding position for a really bad team-probably sooner than he should have. Like the poster above mentioned: he's very competitive, smart and a hard worker. When he was at Wichita State, his defense was exceptional & he was very smart with the ball. So far, I've been very impressed with his D in the League-which should only get better. I don't expect him to be a starter anytime soon, but he'll fill a needed role. And who knows how much he'll improve year in and out down-the-road.

I’m not worried about Baker at all. Teams can ALWAYS use Defensive Role Players! Baker has winning qualities. Not great at anything but has BBIQ, Max Effort, Playmaking Skills and Defense. That’s a pretty good combo.

The other thing is Baker have handle the ball and run plays. Holiday isn’t a Combo Guard. You can use Baker in more ways.
