Any chance the Knicks can afford to sign this guy over the summer? Looks like he's finally starting to break out. Haven't watched much of him but see him filling up the box scores. Why would a team like Orlando not have picked up his option?? Knicks want to add young athletic guys with upside. This seems like a no brainer right? Mario can play the 3 and/or 4? Why not take a chance on him? How much would it cost to sign him? If he keeps playing the way he is we might get priced out.
I am a fan of Mario. It was only time and usage rate before he got comfortable. I would see what it takes to sign him it could be a real value add if priced well.
He would be great. Something is going on in Orlando where these guys don't break out until they leave. Hezonja is starting to now at the tail end of his time there. He would be a good player to take a flyer on, similar to Mudiay. Talented player, toxic environment for player development.
Perry would have insight into this kid. It him and Hennigan who drafted him. He is restricted?
If so, gonna have to offer enough to discourage Orlando.
I don't know.. his first two years were awful. I'd say his season overall has been less than average. Maybe if he continue playing well, but even then... I don't want to end up paying for potential and then winding up with a contract a la Jamal Crawford

Orlando did not extend him, so UFA

would be a great MLE signing. These guys are so young. They take time sometimes. Its tough. I would pounce on him if the price is reasonable
What about Alex abrines ??
He sucked his rookie yr and looked like a bust for his first 2.5 yrs coming from overseas. So we don't need him. Everyone knows that those years determine your career. Smh
Seriously there is no doubt in my mind Perry targets him. He fits the age group and potential Perry is looking for. Dont know the price that he will command though or how good his defense is. Though he gets stls and had 3 blks the other day. We have a starting spot available which could give us an edge.
He probably takes a 2 yrs with a PO for the 2nd. Or a team overpays for potential.
Hez had the Lavar Postal complex. He already thought he should be getting 30 plus minutes cuz he's so nice. Orlando broke him down and he responded finally. I think Hez is Orlando's guy. They might be more inclined to trade some of their vets to make room for Hez
We want other teams projects. Just not our own.
I think it would take 5 years 60mm$ when all is said and done 12- 13mm per to get him. But It would be one of our better money signings.

To answer that... me personally, I want to spend a couple days with Frank. He needs someone ne to talk to him. Not a NBA coach trying to run an offense. Not a g league guy trying to get into the nba.... not a Chris Brickley trainer that will have him practicing step back jumpers and layups off the wrong foot.
He needs someone to open his mind to what real basketball is. Call it a mentor or a intervention or something. It's not really a coachable thing. It's a mentality. He doesn't play with any kind of fire. He doesn't have a next level. He seems to shy from it. I guess if he goes to the g league he can pick up on that hunger.... I think it's more than that. There's a disconnect to me. He can play defense but he's not playing defense. He can run the point but he's not running the point.... feel me at all on this. It's not anyone's fault but the experience of the individual. I would love to have that conversation with him

Im waiting for the Emoji to say your kidding? No?
You sound like a women who feels she can turn a handsome gay man straight after spending time with a real women who can rock his world!
You want him to dunk a ball and scream? maybe smile? he too robotic? you want him to preen? Step over a dude? Get a DUI? SHOW ME SOMETHING THE KID IS ALIVE!!!!!
Is his euro cool too much for you?
Clyde was cool BTW, he showed nothing. No fire, just ice. Clyde the rookie.
This is the path-- this is the right player for us-- I'm on this train.
Another strong game tonight. Don't understand why magic gave up so early?

This is something I often discuss about the time and moment a decision has to be made.
He was not warranting a commitment before the deadline to extend him on Oct 30th.
But this season he has progressed.
So now a team has to look into his soul and make a decision to pay him or not.
Q: how’s his defense ?????
He’s ready. Tim should be relegated to the bench. He’s not a poor nba player just lacks the smarts and consistency
Night in and night out. Beal toyed w him in the 3rd, got into his head and extinguished him.

Can’t argue with what we saw. We all knew Tim was not complete but his trajectory was back on line and to get him a team has to overpay or ATL matches. Even so, why bench him? Clee has peaked. Timmy has some learning to do for sure. We see flashes of what could be.
Beal is an all star and as been at this level a few years now.
For now, it is what it is.

Hes a good ballhandler for his size. Hes untapped and just starting to breakout.
