I believe that Wendell Carter will be the highest ranked player available at 9. He does remind me a lot of Al Horford and we may be devoid of big men if Kanter leaves.
If we took Carter at 9 would Knicks fans be willing to use Frank Ntlikna and a lottery protected 2019 pick to trade for another pick for Huerter?
Why for Huerter? It’s not worth it. Just draft Carter and wait the year out to add another lottery pick.

Draftnet has the Knicks getting Carter. Getting him at 9 would be amazing for the Knicks. There is a lot of buzz around Huerter but Frank and a pick is too much to give up in my opinion.

Only player I would want to see the Knicks trade Frank for in this draft is Doncic. As part of a package. Looks like Doncic has the best shot in the draft of being a generational player, based on what he's already accomplished.

16-30 is where he is falling on the sites I follow. A couple of draft sites, Deanondraft and The Stepien make a case for Huerter being a better pro then Mikal Bridges.
The if we got two really good shooters who play defense I'd be thrilled. I'm not super high on frank long term-- I'd rather use his asset value now on something else. Huerter is the best shooter in the last few years.

I dont think Frankis a PG and Im not sure he is a SG. I think Huerter is a lengthy 2 g with potentially elite shooting skills

Your proposed deal would be way too much to give up for someone projected to go in the late teens, thankfully the knicks would never do that

Bingo. I think we'd have the legs for a deal if we were willing to give them the 36th pick and take back Danilo's dead money in exchange for cap savings. As much as Ballmer is one of the wealthiest owners in the league, I doubt the Clippers would be willing to pay the luxury tax for a team that is likely to be a lottery team next year. It's a bit more complicated than I'd like it to be but we can save the Clippers about $8 million per season and $24 million over the lifetime of Danilo's contract if we did this:

Clippers would get the 8th and 36th picks (via CLE); the Cavs would get the 9th pick (via NYK); the Thunder would also get $5 million cash (via NYK) and we'd get picks 12 and 13 in exchange for eating a shit-sandwich.
And I'd try flipping pick 13 and Ron Baker to the Sixers for pick 10 and Jerryd Bayless. The Sixers are obviously trying to create as much cap space as possible, so moving down 3 spots and saving $4.5 million by exchanging Jerry Bayless ($9 million expirer) for Ron Baker ($4.5 million expirer) allows them to do so. Getting Ron is also advantageous because his smaller contract means that it can be waived and stretched with less ramifications or could taken into another team's cap space easier for money. I could readily see the Atlanta Hawks taking Ron Baker and $4.5 million in exchange for cap space moreso than Jerryd Bayless, whose career is over.

Funny. I don't think he is even ranked in the most recent draft express mock (6/7). I do think those guys have been mailing it in with that mock though.
How about we pick if available. The best player, like Carter Jr or miles or Mikel bridges , then go after low cost seemingly high upside guys, like heznoja, nerlens, grant from okc. We can keep Frankie and our picks.

Have you lost your mind? Frank should stay. He's younger than most of the kids coming out this year. He's a winner and would fit right in with the Warriors or the Spurs because he's unselfish and doesn't need the ball to make his team better.
If we're lucky enough to get Carter, we'd have KP, Carter, Frank as core pieces, all long and talented, and probably one more high pick next year. That's how you build a winning franchise.
