The Grizzlies have gauged the trade market on a package of Chandler Parsons and the No. 4 overall pick, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic.
It's fair to say Parsons has the worst contract in the NBA with $49.2 million going his way over the next two years. The Grizzlies somehow believe they can still win 50 games next year, so maybe a rebuilding team can pick up some draft capital to have Parsons fill up some empty payroll while said team develops their youth. The Grizzlies haven't exactly made wise calls in the last few years, so they certainly could make a hasty decision.

That 4th pick is going to cost more than some cap room, and one second round pick. THJ wont do it either. Burke, maybe. Would make a good backup to Conley.

You gotta edit #2 with #9. And that deal would make no sense for the Grizzlies. The point of packaging Parsons with #4 would be turn that into a piece or 2 that could contribute to a playoff run next season. They would be trading down while adding another player that won't contribute?

There is no chance the Grizzlies would trade 4 and Parsons for 9, 36 and Noah.
They will either want to structure a trade down and get Parsons contract off the books (e.g. Chicago sends 7 and 22 for Parsons and 4), or alternatively they'll try and trade down and perhaps get a veteran to help them (e.g. our deal would need to be centered around 9, 36 and Hardaway for Parsons and 4).
Would I do that type of deal? Of course I'd send Hardaway and our two picks to move up to 4, but I'm not sure the Grizzlies will trade out of the spot they're in.

You're right, it is too generous. At 4, the Knicks could find a game changer. Memphis is going to want it to be worth their while beyond cap relief. Dont believe they're that desperate. They are going to want a player who might be part of the future, more than a second rounder.
I would still offer the swap of picks. Noah for Parsons, and leave it at that.

We don't really have the ammo to move up to 4 without including Frank or KP, or giving up future picks. I guess Hardaway, Lee and Thomas might appeal to them if their owner really does want a quick turnaround, but they are useful players not franchise changing ones. At four they can potentially get the guy to succeed Conley and Gasol as the face of the Grizzlies. So we'd need to make it worth their while and I'm not convinced a few vets and a future first round pick or more would get it done. It would be nice to have 4 and 9, but realistically that isn't going to happen without Frank or KP going in the opposite direction and no one wants that.

If Kyrie really does wanna sign with us next off season, which i think there's definitely a chance that there's a lot of truth to that rumor, then how we gonna sign him with that Parsons contract on our books? I guarantee you that will be on the minds of Perry/Mills/Fiz and if they want Kyrie then they aren't gonna let getting another 1st round pick get in the way of that. Perry has already said they wanna save any cap space to use in 2019.

It's bad but the right team can eat that contract. If the Bulls did a deal they aren't looking like big time 2018 or maybe even 2019 free agent players. They'll likely want Markkanen, Lavine (if extended), Dunn and their picks to develop and will probably target 2020 like we are more likely to do than 2018 and 2019. So they, like us, could take that contract because we are still rebuilding and not competing.

Right now, and for the next few years, we're not going anywhere when it comes to contending. Accumulating talent, developing talent is job 1. At 4, better chance of a core player, as others have mentioned. This is the time to take a cap hit to find players who can take pressure off of KP.
Jordan had Pippen, Porzingis needs a next level player as his wingman if the Knicks want to contend. Better trying first through the draft than a much more expensive free agency

An earlier trade proposal revisited;
In my trade scenario, Knicks get Parsons and #4 for Lee, Thomas, and a future first, top 3 protected (and one of: Baker, Dotson, or Burke) - Their bench is replentished, they have some extra cash to burn on a FA or two (all covered by Parsons existing salary) AND, if the playoff run is a bust they restore a lottery pick NEXT year (a year in which they don't have one).
Burke, inexpensively backing up Conley makes a lot of sense.

They also got back Brook Lopez in the deal. Hardaway jr & #9 is a good deal for both teams desires.
