I notice this thread is very Anti-Trump but when I speak with most people, I see more division, a bit like the vote. I wonder if the Trump bashing makes the supporters just lay low?
For example, I just went to Amazon, here is the best seller list - top 3.There's nothing to prevent the clinically stupid from supporting and propagating their alternate reality bullshit. I talk to Trump supporters and with neoliberals that have wet dreams about free markets on multiple forums including a couple of facebook forums based on investment groups. Almost all of them literally recite the same garbage without adding a single original thought. If they get bashed they definitely deserve it. If you have anything to add let's hear it.
I don't see the point in speaking with so much hate about an issue that affects everyone. It just keeps the other side from expressing their opinions. In general, that is a part of how Trump won. His supporters were attacked and so laid low. Do what you want, but I see it as being not helpful to your cause, no matter the side. Country needs to come together, not be further divided.
Re having anything to add, I'm not up to speed on all of what has happened. Will try to follow the news more, from a variety of sources of course.

His supporters were attacked? They are doing most of the attacking, not sure where you get your data from. Anything that doesn't fit their alternate reality becomes a left wing conspiracy. If they can win with that level of hate why can't we? Why do we need to entertain their batshit positions and politics when they can't even get any information not being postedon fox and Breitbart? Who the fukk said we need to engage them to win elections? To hale with this centrist moderation hype, I am done with this.
I will eagerly await any thing substantive you come up with, then we can discuss.
But roughly half the voting population voted for him. There has to be a reason for it right?
Now you can choose to take a viewpoint that half of the voting population is retarded, racist, or both. I have no idea where to go form such a viewpoint in terms of living together and moving forward, makings things better etc.
Or you can agree to disagree and engage in debate and compromise with rational representatives from the "other" side. This IMO is how life works.
Lashing out and taking extreme stances - not from most of us by the way, but from extremists on both sides - when supported by the rest of us is at best a waste of time and at worst turns us into caricatures of ourselves.

all sports shows now are two loud mouths yelling at each other and digging their heels into the ground. people are being conditioned to make a stand and not waiver in it any way shape or form. there is no discussion anymore and that's not changing anytime soon.
american people are being conditioned to take a stance and not compromise.

Actually no - the Democrats have conditioned their base to accept compromise as "the" way forward while they line their pockets by moving further and further to the right. Simrud's post is prime example of the type of reasoning used. We have all read or heard this ad nauseum over the years. It's complete bullshit. ZERO progress has been made since before Reagan's time, if anything society has been torn further and further apart by increasing levels of stress borne primarily out of financial dissatisfaction with life. Reagan can be credited with popularizing trickle down and all manner of other bullshit that then became pervasive. But this movement has its roots in time long before Reagan. Over this period of time if you ignore the noise, you will see civil liberties have been eroded, racism has become mainstream, the imbalance of wealth distribution has become the most extreme ever in recorded history. The right and the centrists are both playing the same game and they have robbed the masses of their independence, their voice and their determination to stand up for what they believe in. The masterstroke was creating two different economies - one with socialismn for the rich and the other with capitalism and austerity. There is actually a ton of literature on this subject - if you want I can recommend multiple books.

You look around and see devastation, ruins, lawlessness, war, rampant crime and violence...
Not sure were you are living man. Not in US for sure.
Are you living in Russia, Honduras, Zimbabwe, Yemen, Syria, Norths Korea, Venezuela, or Livia?

True. For the life of me I can't understand why more gov't officials aren't going around with their hairs on fire, both Dems and R's, all up and down the line.
And why it's taking the media a proverbial slow walk to get to this point.

You see... If you just point out to the negatives you will never be happy and you will never make a world a better place.
Nothing is only negative. There always 2 sides of every story, of every country, of every person.
For many positives we have in America we have to pay the price with some negatives.
But at least be happy about something.

A chart after my heart! It shows how inflation has far outsripped wage growth. This is why you will never find "real wages" in any right wing chart, epecially real MEDIAN wages.
“You have a terrible policy that sends farmers to the poorhouse, and then you put them on welfare, and we borrow the money from other countries,” Senator Bob Corker, Republican of Tennessee, told reporters on Capitol Hill. “It’s hard to believe there isn’t an outright revolt right now in Congress.”

That's actually a good thing- I'd rather he just f*** off and play golf the whole term, then we wouldn't have to listen to his nonsense.

I would normally agree but he’s so impulsive that after a bad game, he’ll probably decide to f’ something else up. Maybe make it legal to hunt a species threatening to go extinct. God knows his sons want that.
